The primary AC drain line was clogged in my condo unit (secondary was still working), and so I asked Alpha Heating & Air Conditioning if they are able to clear clogged lines. After getting several quotes, Alpha not only was the most affordable, but they also had the best availability. So they came to my home and solved the problem, and also offered some very helpful instruction on how the drainage lines worked. (They even did the same service for my upstairs neighbor.) My interactions with Jim and Marco were outstanding and Alpha's automated status system was very helpful. Overall, I was incredibly pleased with the service I received from Alpha and will absolutely use them again. read more

5 stars -- Exceptional Service from Alpha Heating! Setting up an appointment was incredibly easy, and Jim, the business owner, personally responds to inquiries. He has been super responsive throughout the process. Our technician, Julio, arrived promptly, was friendly, and worked extremely efficiently. He quickly identified that our A/C, which was just blowing out air, had a non functional capacitor and contactor. Julio even showed us the faulty parts so we could verify the issue ourselves. On top of that, they back their work with a warranty on both parts and labor. Overall, 5 stars and I would highly recommend Alpha Heating. If you are a Playa Vista resident, ask Jim about their PV discount. It is an added bonus. You cannot go wrong with this team! read more

Our 2-ton heat pump HVAC system for our condo was about 23 years old, and the condenser finally gave out this summer. We got quotes from several vendors, and from my first call with Jim at Alpha, I knew we were in good hands. He was extremely professional, responsive, and thorough in answering all my questions, and he provided a very fair estimate for the full system replacement. Even better, Jim was able to get the project scheduled within a week of accepting the estimate, including coordinating with our HOA for the necessary approval. In addition to the 10 year hardware warranty and 1 year labor warranty, Alpha also offered a very reasonably priced extended labor warranty (5 and 10 year options), which I added for extra peace of mind. With an August heat wave approaching, I was relieved to find an honest and efficient vendor who could deliver high-quality work on a tight timeline and at a fair price. Julio handled the onsite estimate and was equally professional and knowledgeable. On installation day, the crew arrived right on time, completed the work as scheduled, and thoroughly explained everything once the new system was up and running. Marco was especially great at communicating updates throughout the day and keeping me informed. Our A/C is now working perfectly! I highly recommend Alpha for any HVAC needs. They were professional, honest, and reliable from start to finish. read more

We worked with Alpha in August to install a heat pump AC system and replace our gas-powered central heating system. We've worked with many contractors during our house renovation, and Jim and his team were by far the best! Jim responded the same day to our request for an estimate and walked through our existing system. He followed up quickly with 3 proposals (to add AC to our current system or replace it) without any pressure to choose any particular option. The estimates were transparent and detailed and the pricing was very reasonable compared to the other 3 estimates we'd received from very salesy contractors. They handled the permits seamlessly for us. The installation was efficient, his team knowledgeable and polite. They made sure the heat pump and all of the work in the attic was installed not just correctly but using high workmanship. No cutting corners or sloppiness in the install. They answered all of our questions, addressed any concerns since we were home with the baby during the install, and cleaned up every day. In a few days our lives changed with the miracle of AC just in time for the next heatwave! We are so glad we worked with Jim and choose his business, and would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone! read more

Very professional and accommodating. Technician arrived when he said he would and provided excellent service.

They did amazing work. I never needed to get a heater fixed before so I was glad they made process simple and easy. read more

Really great service from the Alpha team. They were the best pricing with the best product. They had plenty of challenges running the mini-split in my studio, but nothing the installers couldn't handle. read more

Water was dripping from the a/c unit inside of our condo. Alpha Heating/Air were quick to respond with repairs and replacement of needed parts. Jim, the owner was very good about explaining the problem and possible solutions. The repair cost was very reasonable. We were very satisfied with work performed. Would recommend this outfit to anyone. read more

Alpha responded to my dire call for help as a heat wave was coming in the summer. The tech arrived on time, was very courteous, and was mindful of the Covid-19 best practices. The pricing was standard and very upfront via iPad interface. What I really valued was that they took the time to answer my questions and explain to me what needed changing and why. I also got a "101" on the type of unit I have in my condo. What the kicker was that he took the effort to show me the part that was replaced and I was able to see that - yup - it definitely needed changing. read more

A/c stopped working and Alpha was able to have someone out to look at our unit within hours. Julio was sharp, professional and friendly. Really knew what he was doing. He ended up looking over our whole system, addressed the issue, and solved it! Really impressed with the quality of work. Thanks JULIO!! Happy customer, right here. So reasonably priced as well. read more

We had a smaller task to do (install of a condensate pump in our upstairs A/C system), and Julio did a great job diagnosing and addressing that. We then asked that he take a look at potential install of a new whole floor A/C system in our downstairs area. Due to our good experience on the first job, after receiving other bids, we went with Alpha to handle this system, and everything went flawlessly, including choice of equipment (e.g., Trane), retrofit to existing heating system, install of a new duct and 2 Nest thermostats. Jim H. (the owner) is straight up and honest, and he, Julio and Darwin handled everything with a sense of care, politeness, professionalism and overall good vibes, as well as proper Covid precautions. Jim followed up on satisfaction and is a great communicator. Also glad that they're close by and stand by their work with good length warranties. Highly recommended. read more

I had an excellent experience with Alpha! Jim the owner is patient and very kind. Julio and Manny spent two days removing an old AC ( ductless mini split) and replacing with all new. The are so kind and respectful I was amazed! The best part was their skill in completing the job and cleaning up after themselves. Wow! Very happy and impressed!! Thank you Alpha team! read more

Our spring thermostat stopped working in the middle of LA winter and we called Alpha as they were close to our Venice home. Julio, the technician, came on time and was very professional from the moment he came into our place. He was able to diagnose the problem within 10 minutes and installed an updated digital thermostat within 45 minutes of arriving. The cost was a bit more than we were expecting but it included the diagnosis, thermostat, and installation. Would recommend this company and specifically Julio for a fast response and professional service. read more

I can't tell you all how happy I am that we selected Alpha for our major HVAC renovation. We solicited 4 bids from a wide range contractors (General Contractor, Large Commerical HVAC Company, and two others). Alpha was highly competitive in their pricing, but the real reason we chose Alpha is because they are straight shooters. We never felt manipulated and we always felt Jim and his team had our best interests at heart. We have an incredibly constrained attic space to install heating and cooling equipment and we were looking to replace a 40 year old gas furnace and 22 year old AC Condenser with energy and environmentally friendly Heat Pump. Many other contractors didn't even want to figure that out because heat pumps are larger than replacing like for like. Jim's team worked smartly to get us into the best technology. They even dis-assembled the large air handling equipment outside our attic, moved it in piece by piece, and re-assembled inside our tiny attic. Because of their smart positioning of the equipment in attic, we now have even more space and access than before with smaller equipment! They are a highly professional team, started on time each day, and worked incredibly hard. For those in Westchester, PV, PDR, Culver, Venice, Inglewood, etc. --- This is the company to trust with your big jobs and with your annual maintenance. They have earned my business and most importantly my trust. read more

Gave us prices to repair our furnace or replace the aged system. We went for a new install and Alpha did a great job for a reasonable price, and took a lot of time to answer our questions. read more

Julio was efficient, on time, communicative and extremely respectful to my 91-year-old mom. Showed up in a mask + shoe covers to ensure he didn't track anything onto the wood floors. Jim (owner?) texted me multiple times throughout the process, sent me pictures of the problem since I wasn't on site, explained the problem thoroughly, and fixed the issue. Also offered to email me a receipt to pay online vs. using a credit card, etc. Did not try to upsell me on a new unit or costly service plans. 5 stars. read more

Showed up in a mask. Socially distanced. Fixed our air conditioning quickly on Labor Day during the heatwave. Took the time to explain what we needed. Two thumbs up. read more

I knew we needed to replace our 2 AC systems and the time had come. The missing piece of the puzzle was who could I trust to do a good job, provide reliable service and take proper precautions in light of COVID. I researched several local companies - we are in Playa Vista - and settled on Alpha. Unfortunately I had to deal with this long distance at the time, but Jim was on top of everything. Pricing was good but the workmanship and attention to detail was even better. On the day of the install, as luck would have it, the elevators were OUT. So Jim's team carried the roof top units up SIX FLOORS and carried the inside units up FOUR floors and managed to get it all done in one day. And during one of the hottest days of the year. They were careful, polite and made sure we were satisfied. I could not be more happy with their professionalism and Jim's constant contact to keep me informed of the job status throughout. I highly recommend Alpha Heating & Air and will continue to use them for regular maintenance. read more

After a long ordeal trying to determine the source of the water dripping from our ceiling, the plumber said we needed our A/C unit repaired. A quick search on Yelp pulled up Alpha Heating & A/C, and a quick phone call resulted in an appointment scheduled for the next day. The technician arrived on time and after a quick assessment of the issue, told me in clear language what needed to be done. I asked him to look at our second unit, and after about 45 minutes everything was back to working perfectly. The bill was very reasonable in my opinion given the amount of time & work. Luckily, our particular A/C units do not need frequent servicing, but I will definitely be contacting Alpha for our next servicing or A/C-related issue. read more

One company's bad review is often another company's great one! Lucky for you, this is the great one. Exceptional service! The owner himself came to assess the work and give an estimate. He texted each day prior to the scheduled work and arrived promptly the day the job was to start to be sure his crew arrived on time and he could get them started. His employees are professional, hard-working, extremely clean, thorough and explained to me in detail what they were doing and why at all times. Called to ask about someone coming out to service my heater. Had read all the great reviews about Jim and his company, but when I called someone answered and was very dry and standoffish right away like they weren't interested in engaging a new customer. Was very strange so I inquired about who to talk to and the person just said , you can talk to me, no " hello how can I help you my name is " nothing so I asked who am I speaking with and the guy say Jim. Alpha Heating & Air Conditioning - Guys working on our business! Always on time - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me

Great service!! I have used Alpha two times so far and couldn't be more pleased with the process and results. My first issue was the motor needing to be replaced - a new motor was ordered and Jim was very patient with answering my questions and dealing with my crazy schedule. The second issue (unrelated to the motor) came months later with the unit above me having a leak from their AC unit which came into my place and caused mold damage. My AC unit had to physically be removed and put to the side while mold remediation and repairs took place. It's now back in place and is in better shape than it was before! Jim and his team have always been on-time, responsive, professional and just all-around a pleasure to work with. I recommend! I will use them again should I have any future issues! read more

I have had two excellent experiences with Jim over the last month or so. Back in August the compressor on our A/C stopped working. Yes, right in the middle of a heat wave. I left a message around 7am and Jim called me at around 7:30. He was able to come by between noon and 2. I had a work event that day and Jim agreed to call me when he was on his way so I could meet him and not wait around the house (which was great). He quickly determined that the solenoid was bad, which was a quick fix. Up and running in 20 minutes or so! Our unit was old and noisy, and we had been talking about replacing it for a while, so I asked Jim for a replacement quote for the A/C and for installing a whole house fan. The quote came back reasonable. We had the work done last week. Very professional. Started on time at 7am and by 6pm we had a new air conditioner, furnace, and whole house fan. The work was very well done. I would highly recommend Jim and Alpha Heating and Air Conditioning. read more

I highly recommend Jim and his team of professionals based on my experience with a furnace replacement. Julio came to assess our broken furnace and was detailed on communicating the issue (failed circuit board), respectful of our space, and on-time to the minute. We have a 1930's house with a challenging heating configuration. Jim personally came prior to work start to ensure that the proposed solution was the right solution. Julio and team spent two productive days on replacing our furnace and bringing it up to building code. They are thoughtful in their approach and discussed with us different options in meeting the strict code requirements. I did not have to worry about a thing because they are thorough, clean, and knowledgeable. We passed inspection on the first try, and I knew we would because of the care and attention Alpha put into our project. Their price is very fair for what we received: integrity, quality of workmanship and equipment, professionalism, and commitment to their clients. Thank you, Alpha - you have a repeat client here. read more

Alpha Heating and AC owner Jim Nahikian is a master diagnostician. He uses the scientific method: begins with a hunch about the nature of a problem, based on his extensive experience, then performs experiments to see if he's correct. He usually is. His first agenda is always repair, with replacement as a last resort. But if replacement is necessary, he and his crew are the best for that job as well. He has replaced a number of rooftop units at my apartment building. This is a big task, involving a crane, spit-system in the apartment unit, and on the roof. Alpha must orchestrate a lot of complex elements for this to go without a hitch. And they do. So, here's to Alpha Heating and AC! read more

I tried for nearly 2 months to get an appointment with Jim/Alpha. The heaters they installed, less than 2yrs ago for the prior owner, need service. They're leaking water into my attic / ceiling! Jim returned my call once and promised to call me back to schedule an appointment. Repeated follow up texts, emails, and phone calls have gone unanswered. I'd love to have the 5 star service other reviewer's received but it seems I'm stuck on start. read more

There is a good reason why Alpha HVAC has so many five star reviews - and that is because they deserve it. The owner Jim and his team of technicians will provide an honest appraisal of the work that is needed and an equally honest repair cost. When I called Jim on two occasions for different repairs on my furnace, he responded quickly and sent out his technician almost immediately. He is an excellent communicator and described the problem using terminology that I could easily understand. He made recommendations that showed his experience and was not interested in simply making a quick buck, as so many other HVAC companies often do. With these types of jobs, it is easy for the technicians to sense the home owner's anxiety and over-price the job. That is not how Jim functions. He is a respectful, kind and honest person. I have 100% confidence with him and his team, and consider myself lucky that I found someone who I will continue to use with all the HVAC needs in the properties that I own. read more

Con artists. They told me that a new basic thermostat and safety switch would cost over $500 just in parts but they would install them both for just $500 including labor. A quick check online and both parts were less than $30 each. Don't call these guys. They will try to scam you. I've seen other service companies try to overcharge on parts but this is the worst I've ever seen. read more

This review is long overdue from service a few months ago. We had a furnace that quit during the recent cold-spell. We called Alpha and they came out to check it the next morning. Turns out we needed a new furnace and were able to get it installed the next morning. The install took only 4 hours so we didn't have to waste the whole day waiting around. The unit works well and we are happy with the service we got from Jim and Noel @ Alpha. I would highly recommend them to anyone! read more

I called to schedule an inspection of my A/C and heating combo unit because the heat had stopped working and Jim was able to fit me in the very next day. I called the day of to ask if we could meet earlier than our scheduled time and he was great about that too. He was professional, a very nice guy, and wasted no time in letting me know that the unit was shot. He quoted what I thought was a reasonable price for a replacement unit but then a technician from another company suggested I make sure that the quote from Alpha included permit fees. Guess what? Jim told me, via email, that he had forgotten to include permit fees in his quote. Maybe it was an honest mistake but that left me with a bad feeling so I ended up going with another company. read more
