George and his assistant Saul did an terrific job on our railing project. They showed up on time, on the day they said they were going to be at our house, and completed the project in a timely manner. We are thrilled with the result! It has never looked so good after painting. As you can see from the photos, the fence has spearheads, balls, and multiple rails, making the painting process more difficult. 808 F&R carefully prepared the fence, removing rust bubbles and grinding down the the metal where needed. We flew over from California for a couple of weeks. 808 F&R was able to start and complete the job while we were on Oahu. You can see their work for yourself on the right hand side of Nuuanu heading out of Honolulu.

Subsequently cancelled two final walk throughs because of rain and traffic. After confirming 3rd appointment, he showed up 45 minutes early, even when I confirmed another time that morning. At that meeting, the $11,000 written proposal was increased by 60% to $18,000. He said that the first proposal was only an estimate, even though he personally inspected the property. The proposal was also put in writing, and I wonder what they would have done if I had signed the proposal and given them a 50% deposit.

He does great work and very quickly. I dealt with a few business during my due diligence on this project. Everybody else wanted to collect a bunch of information before you get to when they can quote or they'll send an assessor and then email you a quote a week later. Vik got me back a quote the next day that was just a clean floors, paint, etc, no per hour fluff, no nonsense: I'll do the job for this much bottom line because he's a pro and he knows exactly what it's going to take to do it. He arrived every day like on the minute when he said he'd be there. The work he did was excellent, living room looks brand new. The wall, ceiling, trim, all the paint and floor, everything the storm destroyed you wouldn't even know. When he got the floors up he noticed the foundation wasn't properly leveled and had me take a look (it was a really poor DIY someone did there before). We discussed it and he releveled them, I didn't even realize how bad the hollow sounds were walking on them before until it was fixed. Cleans up entirely every day, protects everything while he's working and is an absolute machine just working nonstop. Can't recommend him enough.

I emailed Hanisi Posoa of STS Masonry for a price estimate and he immediately responded. He came out the next day to see what was needed and gave me a reasonable quote. He was courteous, soft-spoken and an all-around nice guy. During the project he was on-time, kept me updated and was hard-working. He did quality work and used quality materials. At the end of each day he cleaned up the work area and took away any rubbish. I'm extremely satisfied with his work and would absolutely recommend his services to anyone! And his wife is such a nice person too!

I strongly advise anyone considering hiring Nohealani Masonry to think twice before doing business…read morewith them. My experience with the owner, Kepu, has been nothing short of a nightmare. I contracted with Kepu in May 2025 to pour and finish a stained, stamped, and sealed concrete driveway, along with the installation of two aluminum gates and fencing. On the last day of the pour, he pressured me to pay the entire final balance upfront--including the gates and fencing--so he could "pay his workers." Against my better judgment, I trusted him. That was a huge mistake. Here's what happened: Substandard Workmanship: Most driveways are poured at 4" thick. Mine was poured at only 2". Reinforcing wire pushed up through the concrete in several places (I have photos). Kepu made several failed attempts to repair it. When I demanded the bad sections be repoured, he began ghosting me and dodging calls. Flaky, Unreliable, and Dishonest: Weeks went by with endless excuses for not showing up. His own vendors even contacted me directly, complaining he wasn't returning equipment he had rented for my job. Only after I threatened to file a RICO complaint with the State of Hawaii did he return--half-heartedly--to reseal the concrete. Poor Final Results: The seal job looks terrible. The color is uneven, large white sandy patches are visible from too much non-slip additive, and there are permanent bucket marks left behind where he rested containers on the wet surface. Unfinished Work & Missing Money: Three months later, Kepu has not installed the gates and fencing. He does not answer phone calls, texts, or emails. After I demanded proof of my gate/fence order, he admitted he canceled it. I told him to refund the money. But never followed through. At this point, he has my money and I have nothing to show for it. I have filed a formal RICO complaint with the State of Hawaii, and I am now preparing to seek legal help to recover damages and the funds I paid him in good faith. If you value your time, money, and sanity, avoid Nohealani Masonry at all costs. I wish I had seen a review like this before I made the mistake of hiring them.

The job was completed within the time frame he gave me and every detail accomplished, including clean-up after completion. The actual work consisted of tearing down a major retaining wall in the front of my house, the same in the back of the house, as well as painting of the steps to the house. I would absolutely and will definitely recommend Kepu and Nohealani Construction!
