This was my first hostel experience and it was amazing! I will definitely be back. The staff were all so kind and helpful. When I booked the stay, the gal emailed me lots of must do sights to see which was way over and beyond. My private room (Roxy) was so clean and cute! Loved the decor. Bed was surprisingly very comfortable, which is exactly what I needed after hiking all day on the Hāna Road. Air conditioning was available at night or when in the room. The common spaces were welcoming and I enjoyed meeting the other travelers, many who were international. I enjoyed the hot tub and fireplace. Since the hostel is in a residential area, there are quiet hours starting at 10pm. Which is also appreciated if you plan on sleeping early to get an early start on tomorrow's adventures. The kitchen was clean and big enough to accommodate a few people cooking. Since my stay was short I opted to walk into town to the store and restaurants. I will definitely be back! Aloha!

Literally the best place with the best people. I'm 37 and brand new to the hostel life AND to solo-traveling, and I feel like I hit the Jackpot with getting to experience Aloha Surf Hostel. I went from being someone scared to travel solo, keeping to myself; to staying at Aloha Surf Hostel 4x in a 2 month period totaling probably over 20 nights and I still can't get enough. The place is so homey. So pretty, clean, well kept.. easy to socialize and make friends with everyone who enters the place. The location is great. The vibe is great. There's a living room with a couch you can melt into, board games, a pool table, hot tub, firepit, game nights, free tours, a huge kitchen, a grill.. honestly one of the best experiences I've ever had, and I can't wait to go back. Thank you to everyone I've encountered at Aloha. I'm super grateful for all the things and all the people!

up before the other hostelers to hit the road to hana!

This hostel has two game-changing features that make it one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in: - Location: it's in the funky town of Paia which is filled to the brim with eateries for every price level. It's also a short walk to the beach. - The tours: I didn't go on any of these, but if I had known they existed, I may have planned my entire trip to Maui around them! The hostel does daily tours where they will drive you throughout the island. They are FREE. Many of these tours were to places I was already going to, after much planning. Had I known about these, I may have just booked with this hostel and hitched to their tour wagon! Everything else about the amenities here is above-average for a hostel. The one, HUGE, negative is that the showers were cold when I was there. That's the only reason I'm withholding 5-stars.

The best decision I made this whole trip, was staying here. So clean, free beach towels, hot tub, singular bathrooms, the absolute best location & the people there working & staying were incredible. The Main Street of Paia is walkable and filled with restaurants, shops, coffee. You can also walk to the beach. Baldwin Beach and Safeway are 10 min away. I will for sure always come back here. They are also extremely COVID safe with mask enforcement. 10/10 recommend.

4.5 because they have free Pilates and Yoga classes on the beach (Izabella was an awesome instructor). This place has a lot of perks including free pancake breakfasts with tea/coffee, free trips throughout Maui (whale watching, snorkeling with the sea turtles, road to Hana, Iao hiking, etc...). They also have tip-based messages. I stayed in a 6 person room, which was super hot, for which a loud fan was turned on. Also my mattress was super soft... I sank in the center. That said, I really feel the good outweighs the bad at Aloha. Staff are super nice. Only $1.50 per wash & dryer. These along with the shower stalls get pretty busy after the people from the day trip return to the hostel. Free WiFi, quiet time from 10p to 8a.

A very nice place to stay if you're looking to save money on somewhere that you're going to lay your head and change clothes. I never knew about the hostel concept until one of my old coworkers told me that he stayed in one in LA and it was really cheap, so I looked into it. This place is super nice. I was a little skeptical at first because I've never stayed in a hostel before but after my experience here I wouldn't mind staying at one again. The place is clean, nice sized rooms/beds and very homey feeling. I came with my parents and we stayed in a 3 bed private room and it came with its own bathroom. It is clean like I said, but it is Hawaii, and it's located in a more rural area, so there's more critters that you see, geckos to be exact. They have nice amenities, free breakfast, free tours, and they have a lot of info about the island as far as things to do and the bus schedules if you want to get around your own way. Although I came with my parents I would say this suits more of a younger crowd because they mainly have dorms that have 2-3 bunk beds in each room. Everyone that stays here are really friendly and aren't afraid to say good morning or hi when you pass by. They have a living room with cable TV, a computer, WiFi, hot tub, pool table and vending machine. The only couple of reasons it doesn't get 5 stars is because the lack of availability on the tours, it's a first come first serve basis where you sign up for the tours, but they only have one van and it seats about 12 people, and there's at least 20 who stay in the hostel. Also, when we came to check in at the time they said we could, the room wasn't ready for another 2 1/2 hours! That was really frustrating, especially after not having any sleep for almost 24 hours. Overall, I wouldn't mind staying here again because the pros outweigh the cons, it's in a cute city and really close to town.

This was without a doubt my best hostel experience. Amazing kitchen, free pancake breakfast, a hot tub, free tours to the best spots on Maui. It was beautiful, comfortable, clean, affordable, and in a convenient location. But the best part was the staff (especially April, Pepper, and Brook)who were extremely helpful and kind. Mahalo nui loa and a hui hou!

Genuinely best hostel experience I've had! Everyone is so kind, and the tours are sooo fun. 10/10 recommend to anyone coming to the area.

It's a short 15-minute drive from the airport and conveniently located in walking distance of the beaches and not far off Road to Hana. It was my first time traveling to Maui and a friend who has lived there for 5 years recommended Paia. It was very safe and secure. We adventured during most of the day, but we drove through later one afternoon and the area was hopping! Nalu Kai Lodge - it's not your typical place to stay. I went there with my boyfriend. It was quaint, romantic, safe, comfortable, and unbelievably clean. To put things into perspective on a cleanliness standpoint, I travel every other week for work and my routine is to check for bugs, Clorox wipe any surface I touch, and wear shower shoes (I am a germaphob and have stayed in 5-star hotels to your typical Marriott or Marriott Courtyard - you'd be shocked at just how disgusting hotels are no matter their rank). This is the first place I stayed where I haven't worn shower shoes in years. It was just that clean. The sheets were fresh and the bed was cozy. The temperature was ideal - we went during rainy season in January and the fan with the windows open made for the perfect temperature. It was almost magical the way the rain sounded on the roof. It was better than my sleep and meditation app - and it was au natural! The stone floor of the shower room felt amazing under my feet and the room came with fresh beach towels and a refrigerator. I read reviews about parking - they have enough spots for guests, there is plentiful street parking at night, and there is free beach parking a block away. Be aware - the bathroom is separated from the room by a curtain. If you are a private person and need added privacy to use the bathroom, I recommend sending your significant other/travel buddy outside to enjoy the lounge area, to the coffee shop adjoined to the lodge, or to go look at the shops. They also have an outdoor shower by the fountain outside, a hammock, picnic tables, a tiki bar, and many outlets for charging. If you run into the staff, they are extraordinary. I particularly enjoyed Suzy (Susan?)'s company. We talked one afternoon and she was a lovely person. My only regret about my stay is that I only stayed two nights. I spent the other nights in different parts of the island in Airbnb's, inns, etc. My boyfriend and I tried to book additional nights at Nalu Kai even though we had reservations elsewhere, but they were booked. We loved it that much. It was just that special. Spark Notes Recap - Cleanliness: 10/10 Location: 10/10 Safety: 10/10 Recs: Paia Coffee Shop (connected to hotel - great coffee, get a DREAM bar, food looked awesome), Kuau Store (drive down the road - great place to grab snacks, smoothies, poke), Hana Picnic Lunch Company (great ice cream), and Flatbread Pizza (get the pork and pineapple! Ask for pineapple vinaigrette).

Arrival & Check-In: Our flight landed late, and we didn't get to the hotel until around 10:30 PM. Despite the late hour, we were immediately greeted by an incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient front desk staff. They made the check-in process an absolute breeze and even provided us with complimentary water, which was a very thoughtful and much-appreciated touch after a long travel day. Room & Comfort: Once we got our keys, we were pleasantly surprised by the room. It was exceptionally clean, spacious, and well-equipped with great amenities, including a TV, a microwave, and a convenient pull-out desk. The beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring we all got a great night's sleep. As someone who is particular about hotel bathrooms, I was thrilled--it was the perfect size, and the water pressure in the shower (which is important to me!) was excellent. Location & Convenience: You really can't beat this location. It is literally minutes away from the airport and right next door to Costco, which is a huge plus for stocking up. Because we arrived so late and needed to grab dinner, we were relieved to find plenty of fast food options and food trucks right nearby. Overall Value: This hotel is absolutely perfect for families. It is reasonably priced, and the four of us fit comfortably without feeling cramped. If you need a clean, comfortable, and highly convenient place to stay near the Kahului airport, look no further. We will definitely be back!

Ok sidetrack a little back to the hotel do you know this courtyard by Marriott was build in 2012. That's how long I didn't come to Maui wow! Conveniently located right outside the airport ground w/free shuttle as well . Nice 4 story hotel with a pool , outdoor fire pit for relaxing also a fitness center . In the lobby they also have a nice bistro . Marriott courtyard brand is not a 5 star hotel it's one of Marriott medium brand mostly like a business hotel not for long stayers. Right across from the hotel is Costco and walking distance to Krispy Kreme. Also what i experienced the food truck lot right next door to the hotel . I'm giving this hotel a 5 Star because customer service is suburb along with its convenient location. I received customer service once I arrived normally most hotels check in at 3pm. I got to the courtyard Marriott around 1:30pm the front desk gave me my room already . On top of that my flight departed Maui at 2:45pm so I requested a later check out they honored that as well . Check out normally is at 11am. I checked out @ 1:00pm. Only downside is that this hotel charges parking $15 a day . It's ok although if you're staying awhile it could add up ?

MAUI Seaside Hotel - Five Stars for What It Is, Brada…read more Let me tell you straight if you wen' book MAUI Seaside Hotel, you already did your homework. You know this one stay budget-friendly, not fancy-schmancy resort kine. And that's why I start off strong: five stars for value, cuz you getting exactly what you paid for, maybe even one notch above. First off, the location? Cheehoo, unreal. Right off the airport blink twice, you there. Middle of everything, perfect for one quick in-and-out stay or when you running Maui on one budget. The open-air vibe, that lighted-up pool, the little fireplace area... Me and my wife call 'em Motel 7, cuz it's one step above Motel 6 but still Hawaiian-style cute. King bed, tables both sides, modern TV, lil' fridge, coffee pot, desk, AC blowing cold, plenty lights, and even those old-school pics of Hawaiian girls up in the mountains. From our window? We saw water, mountains, the whole scene. That alone made me go, "Shoots, five stars." Could I walk around and point out da cracks? Sure. Place get age, no lie. But my room? Clean, brada. Like no dust on top the pictures, no grime hiding on the desk, no weird smells. Clean sheets, clean bathroom, everything tight. And you know what? I never heard one peep all night. No drama, no yelling down the hall, no slamming doors. Just solid sleep as much as you can get after running around Maui all day getting sunburnt and grinding shave ice. Walking into the lobby, the set-up get charm. Cute, simple, island feel. And I've written my share of rough reviews, but I like be honest not everything in life is broken. Sometimes you gotta judge the thing for what it's meant to be. If you buy one used car with 100k miles and the price is right, and the tires good, and the engine runs that's still a good deal. This hotel? Same story. Good deal, good value, good stay. And hey the Aloha was real. Staff friendly, smiles all day, no attitude. Hit the pool twice; everybody chill, nobody acting wild, just laid-back island vibe all around. That's worth something too, yeah? All in all? Solid stay. Clean. Peaceful. Friendly. Good value. Five stars because they deliver exactly what they promise and a little more with the Aloha spirit.

A nice feature is the ability to walk through pool area onto the narrow beach. The hotel is near the harbor, so the quality of the water is uncertain. The primary reason for the three star rating is the poor maintenance of the annex building where our room was. The exterior of the annex clearly needs improvement. Our room had lots chipped paint and wood finishes. The bathroom door was missing some of its painted veneer. The bathroom had been repainted but there were paint splashes on the mirror wood trim. The bathroom ventilation did not work. The curved shower curtain rod over the tub was loose on the wall and bending slightly toward the floor, as if someone had tried to do chin ups on it. The end of the shower curtain kept sliding down the curved curtain rod and away from the wall, which made it impossible to not get water on the floor. The air conditioner cycled on and off in a very annoying fashion. The compressor came on and ramped up to speed and the fan would blow for 30 to 60 seconds and then it shut down only to repeat the process in another five minutes or so. We probably should have set the fan to a continuous setting, but it honestly didn't occur to us. There was no daily maid service during our 2-night stay unless we requested it. All in all, our stay was fine, but not great.
