What's more, to make sure everything was well and truly addressed, the boss himself stopped by on his way to a birthday party to offer a little oversight, hands-on assistance, and some on-the-job staff training. Sterling ended up pumping my tanks, which was fine, but there was no charge for the extra service call, which was even better, and everything was resolved by 6:00 PM. These folks could have easily said, sorry, can't do anything until Monday, and I would have understood. I was given an inspection date very quickly, was given a 2 hour time frame (between 8-9am), but they arrived late. Once the inspection was completed I asked for a date and time for it to be pumped and paid cash for both inspection and pumping. Got no receipt and no explanation as to why. Was told by the rep. that pumping would be "this afternoon". I called the office to get an actual time, or time frame, and she said "between 1 and 4pm", but she would "call me" before the truck came out to my home. ( their hours were 7am to 5pm) . I waited til 3:45pm and called the office for an update but there was no answer. Left a message. I called again at 4:55pm and still no answer. I left another message. "No worries" never showed up at all that day as promised. Next morning at 7:10 am I called the office and spoke with a gentleman. Again, very polite, but had no explanation for the no-show, but would "look into it." He called me a couple of hours later stating their staff had accidently pumped a neighbor's house down the road with a similar address. They did indeed come to my house (a day late) and pumped MY septic tank. If they had just called ME previous to their pumping, as promised, all of this could have been avoided. The work they did for me was excellent, with great prices, and they were very nice people, but something is lacking in their communication with their staff and their customers.

I've left messages and gotten called back 8 hours later. - They also don't do any kind of expecation setting. I sat around all morning waiting to hear when they'd show up because I was told yesterday that I'd be first thing in the morning. At 10:30 they called to say they didn't know when the guy would be there as he was on another job. At 10:33, literally three minutes later the same girl called back to say he was on his way. - The people on the phone clearly know nothing about the industry they work in, which is problematic when they have to figure out the right person to send to a job. My septic backed up Friday, guy came out to pump it, explicitly told me he couldn't fix the cause and that I needed one of their technicians. He put that in his notes and asked for a follow up. I called and explained the same thing to them that we had already been pumped, but needed someone to diagnose the root cause. On Tuesday when they finally got some one out to deal with the root cause they sent the same guy who already said he couldn't do it. I tried multiple times to explain to the office staff the issue and who I needed to show up, and their solution was to put me in as a sales lead for their sales staff... I hate to traffic in tropes, but this really felt like a cliche business where they hire a bunch of ditsy girls to answer the phones who don't know anything about the business and then call in the men to answer any of the technical questions and make sales.
