As my prior pool lady moved away, I utilized Aloha Pools for my pool service for about a year. On several occasions I asked simple requests such as providing oversight to the pool pump timer. Such requests failed repeatedly. On several occasions the water turned green, which created serious issues, as this was a rental property. (I was told there must be a leak, but on my own "bucket testing" there was none.) When I once recently spoke with the owner he was exceptionally rude, spoke in a derogatory way about "New Yorkers" (which I am not), and my service was abruptly cancelled. Thankfully, things have turned out well. My new pool service lady is amazing, and pointed out that the excessively high pool phosphate concentration had been ignored which was the reason that the large shock doses of chlorine, simplistically performed, were not the answer. I would never recommend this company. read more

At first I was very satisfied with the pool build and the satisfaction subsided very quickly. The pool was to have an umbrella holder installed and I asked multiple times when it was going to be installed. I was informed it would be installed later in the build. Then they filled the pool with water (once the pool is filled with water and brushed for a month (i think), you are responsible for treating it with chemicals weekly and you you can start using it. They don't tell you this until until you start complaining). I asked again about the umbrella holder and kept getting different answers. Meanwhile they installed a LED light that can be a variety of colors but no controller to control the lights. They informed me that the light switch needs to be turned off and on multiple times to get the color you want. That hard to do when they put the switch on the side of the house where you can't see the pool. Before the switch was placed on the side of the house, I emailed multiple times asking where the light switch would be located. No responses back. With getting no emails back, I contacted the company by phone. The lady I spoke with informed me that the light that was installed should have a remote to control it. After multiple good conversations with her the communication stopped as she didn't work for them anymore. I then had to go up to the aloha office to talk to someone about finished my pool. The man in charge was an A$$. He said he doesn't care what was said on the phone and that I was lying to him. After arguing with him for about an hour, he said my pool would be completed in a couple weeks. They then came and drained the entire pool, drilled out the umbrella holder, installed a controller (this was because the tech said moving the light switch would be complicated and he preferred the controller). Then they scheduled the final inspections and didn't inform me that someone had to be home for the final inspection and they didn't have a permit printed onsite, so it didn't pass for the permit not being onsite and no one home. Then they rescheduled the inspections and brought out more paperwork and it failed again for no permit. Then they informed me that they were working on getting a new permit printed, that was 3 months of trying to reprint the permit. Then the permit expired and they needed to get it reopened. After all of that, they scheduled the final inspection again and still didn't have a permit onsite. Then the inspections were not finalized because Aloha hadn't paid the fines for the red flags on the permit. Then I was informed from Aloha that the pool was finalized but the Hernando building division said Aloha still had pending items before the final would be complete. It took me getting involved with the county to get Aloha to move things along for final approval. From the time water was added, it took over a year for Aloha to final the pool. All that was remaining was the umbrella holder, light switch relocated to the back of the house (where the pool is at) or a controller, and the final inspection. The only reason it even got done was because I pushed and pushed to get it completed. If you want a pool company that will complete the job without you getting involved with the county and pushing Aloha, this not the company you want to choose. I had 4 bar stools installed inside the pool, they used circle supports to hold the stools up until they cured. once they removed the supports, they didn't finish the stools. you can still see the supports. all they needed to do was sand down the spiral of the support. If you want stools then expect them to look horrible. I know a few people that have had pools built at the same time from different builders and they didn't have anywhere near the problems I had. I WOULD NOT RECOMMENT THIS COMPANY. IF YOU CHOOSE ALOHA TO BUILD YOUR POOL, MAKE SURE ALL COMUNICAITON IS IN WRITING (EMAIL). Friendly customer service but pool services were lacking severely. People have showed up to my pool, thrown granulates into it, check the filter and walk away without a word to me even if I'm sitting there next to the pool. So you receive, what seems to be automated, emails telling you that your pool is "sparkling clean" and there's also a picture of your pool included. My pool went from looking clean & clear to green with algae under their almost 2 month care. Not happy with the lack of communication and servicing of my pool. I don't recommend using their services and we're still working on getting our pool back to where it was before we hired them. read more

Being a novice on inground pools and 78 years old, I put my trust in the salesman (1st mistake). After several calls back to salesman with no response, I went to the office again and found the salesman was no longer there, but was assured that they had all information. I signed the contract (2nd mistake) without going over what I had discussed with the first salesman. The pavers around the pool are so porous that they are turning black with mold, a decent salesman should have discussed this with me, knowing full well that their contract did not include a sealant. Being a first time owner of pool and lanai, I was unaware of this until I sat down and read the very fine print. I just recently had to have the heater for the pool repaired, unfortunately because it was 3 months past the labor warranty, I had to pay $700.00 out of pocket for the labor. I was told that the problem was probably there when it was installed. Reflecting back, I remember the service man adjusting everything for the pool showing me how the heater worked, turning it on and putting his hand over the fan and having hot air coming out, stating "it's warm air now but should be cool air, probably just needs to be on for a bit." (3rd mistake). In talking with a few neighbors who had a heater, they indicated it cost them an extra $500.00 mo. to heat pool. I tried to heat pool one time and the temperature moved 1 degree after a 48 hr period. I turned it off and never tried it again. Months later I noticed the heater was leaking, at first I thought it was from rain or my irrigation, but after a week of no rain or irrigation, it was still wet. I contacted Aloha for three reasons, my chlorinator was not working, one of the pop ups was not working and the heater was leaking. Result -the repairman ordered new chlorinator and contacted office to get Gulf Stream out for service call. After nearly 2 weeks I had no response from Gulf Stream so I contacted Aloha Pools and was told I needed to contact Gulf Stream direct, I could go out on internet and get their information (customer service???). Once I contacted Gulf Stream they were there the next day and the part was on by the end of the week, no thanks to Aloha Pools. I had to wait more than a month for the chlorinator to be installed. I am very disappointed in the service I received, and the pool installation. I am pretty sure the color of the pool is incorrect and the pavers are not what I ordered. I was given a very quick explanation on how to operate the equipment, less than 5 minutes. I learned more from the service man when the chlorinator did not work the first time than I did from the pool guy setting up the chemicals and adjusting the heads. The heads are still not working correctly because the repairman did not have the proper tool on both visits. Would I use Aloha Pools again, "NO", absolutely not. What did I learn - If you are new to purchasing an inground pool, do a lot of research first, ask questions, don't rely on the salesman or anyone else for that matter, they are all in it for the money. Make sure that what you order is exactly what you ordered. and you have it in writing before you leave the office and before you sign the contract. read more

We contracted Aloha Pool Inc. of Homosassa, FL, in June 2021 to build our pool project at a total cost of $140,000, which should have been finished in February or March. Unfortunately for us, the contractor is deceptive and unethical. We had previously built a pool, so we knew exactly what we wanted down to finishes, colors, and style; all was captured on the contract. We never imagined that the contractor would arbitrarily make decisions different from the contract, including the type of screen enclosure and the inside pool color opposite our choice. The response to a clearly defined Mansard roof screen enclosure in the contract was that it was ambiguous. Nothing ambiguous about a mansard screen roof, it was requested for a reason($28,000 to fix it now). What we end up with is a customized half a mansard roof. Worse, the contractor demanded full payment before all the pool equipment was installed and working. As of October 9th, 2022, we have a fire pit that has never worked and was installed incorrectly no vent for natural gas to escape and water to drain; two fire bowls were not installed correctly either and cannot be run without risk to our family. No resolution on the wrong pool color or the wrong screen enclosure; the spa does not work, gas lines have been installed that haven't been inspected, and the enclosure hasn't been inspected even though wrong design. And to top it off, he put a lien on our house because he said full contract payment due once they put water in the pool June 2022 (regardless if anything else is done or working) and AFTER we made the final payment. We are still trying to get that lien removed. This contractor must have done this to other customers, you just have to look at his response to our Better Business Bureau complaint - this is not the first time he has done this. And even though he legally must complete the contract, he has disappeared. We will have to pay to resolve all the issues. This contractor took away the joy and excitement of building our dream pool. read more
