Today was the best day on the water with Larry and Jarrin. They couldn't have been more accommodating to our family group of 10! We caught 16 fish, saw at least 50 whales and enjoyed a beautiful relaxing and exciting day. If you are looking to book a charter in Maui, I highly recommend, they are the best. Had a great morning snorkeling. The staff is amazing. They made sure we were comfortable and having fun. They served breakfast and lunch both surprisingly very delicious. Their boat is smaller and fits about 25 people I want to say........ which is better I believe than those huge boats that carry over a hundred. Larry and Jarren were amazing. It's only 4 hours but they make every bit of it amazing. I've been coming to Maui for 8 years and this has been on my bucket list for our one week stay each year. Being from San Diego and having been on lots of chartered fishing trips, this one tops them all. Amazing weather, water and crew. You leave the harbor and troll for about an hour out to the fishing spots. Even being an avid and knowledgeable fisherman, I enjoyed and appreciated the information Jarren shared with us about the lures and setup they use. Once on the first spot, the boat immediately got on the fish. We caught an evasive fish, so you keep what you catch. I forgot to add that any fish caught while trolling are community fish so everyone on the boat gets a chunk at the end. Jarren even told me the best way to cook my catch since I own a condo at the harbor, I was cooking what I caught. We hooked up on the troll back in and the boat was so excited! Here are the best take aways....I payed a flat fee, it included a restroom, water, bait, gear and juices, they don't nickel and dime you on the trip, cleaned and bagged our fish, Jarren was an absolutely bad ass, and they are safe! If you're thinking about doing a charter on Maui, see these guys. 100% worth every penny. The only extra expense was the tip and I was generous due to the amazing service. The fishing trip is good for kids, looking for an experience to catch small 8" reef fish. I would give them a good rating if that is the purpose of the trip. But for experienced adults, I know our expectation was to be fishing for Mahi Mahi. That was obviously never the plan with this boat based on the fishing gear and bait that we were using. There are other charter boats that focus on the bigger fish. Just an FYI. Also, please note, at the Maalea Harbor where the boat goes out of, 100% parking is "PAID FOR PARKING." signage is not great. Easy to miss if not parked next to a sign. Our car got towed. Cost $240 to get it out. Aloha Blue Charters written information, pre-trip confirmation call, nor the crew, gave us any warning about parking. It would have been easy for them to do so, or include a $3.00 parking pass as part of the fee for fishing. They did neither. Shame on them. Made this a very expensive trip. read more

Great time fishing with First Mate Freddy and Captain Larry. My husband and I did a private charter. Having had a boat of our own, we understand it's called "fishing" not "catching" for a reason. We caught one small fish while out but on the way back, while trolling, we hooked into a 30 lb Ono and a 20 lb Ono. Where do I start first off i am an avid fisherman and one of the easiest fishing is bottom fishing. Im in Hawaii guys Hawaii! Booked a trip on 7/15/25 and the price was insane. $290 bucks for 4 hours of bottom fishing is insulting but I tried it anyways. The boat, the boat is not a fishing charter boat. The boat is a sight seeing boat retrofitted to accommodate a few fisherman. The stern still had sight seeing seats in place and were in the way. The bow had an uneven standing deck and was very uncomfortable. Let's get to the fishing, oh boy was it horrible. I didn't catch not 1 fish and the few fish that did come up were like minnows, literally the size of my hand. It was incredible, the capt kept saying he was seeing fish on his finder but there were definitely no fish. Why we were drifting on a bottom fishing trip, only the capt knows. As far as the mates, they were awesome and trying to make it a good time with the little fish that came up. The capt! Honestly seemed like he couldn't care less if we were catching or not. Horrible Horrible experience! I would not recommend this boat to anyone. Blue charters, you need to do better. For a Hawaii trip at that price you need to do better with your locked in spots. We joined them for a molokini crater snorkel tour. This is one of the smaller operations with a somewhat smaller boat. If you are looking for a big three decker party boat with a slide, a DJ, and a bunch of booze,, this is not the trip for you. If you would like a friendly crew that takes time to get to know you and shares everything they know about the islands, these guys are a great choice. The boat holds about 25 people, although you wouldn't guess it by looking at it. That said, we were quite comfortable. They provide everything you need... Snorkels, masks , fins, and wetsuit if you request it, and flotation devices if you would like. It takes a little over an hour to get to Molokini crater. It was a pretty smooth trip. My husband gets seasick but he was fine. We sat outside. Once you get there you have about 50 minutes to snorkel. Crew is both on the boat and in the water and we felt very safe. That was actually plenty of time. By the time we were done we were pretty pooped. Then they take you on about a 20 minute trip to where there are some turtles. We didn't see that many that day but the weather was a little bit weird. We left the dock at Maalea at about 730 (a couple passengers were late due to a bad taxi ride) and returned about noon. That was plenty of time and we were pretty exhausted. They serve breakfast and lunch and it was quite good. There is a bathroom and a fresh water hose if you need to rinse off. Honestly we can't say enough about the crew. They were very friendly and genuinely cared about what they were doing in the environment. Highly recommend! read more

When we booked our trip we were told we'd be on a catamaran. When we arrived in the morning, we were quite disappointed. We were on a much smaller boat with about 25 people. The captain of the boat seemed to be a bit grouchy when everyone was boarding. The family ahead of us commented on his attitude and shared with us that he was grouchy. (to be honest, we agreed with them) I am happy to say that he ended up warming up and became more friendly, even joking with everyone. The boat is small, but honestly, besides not having a ton of room to spread out, it was fine. He had a crew of 2 young people, Kekoa (sorry if I misspelled his name) and AC (I think). She was a lovely young lady. I will say his crew was great, especially Kekoa. He was EXTREMELY, friendly and personable. Both he and his colleague were very helpful in refilling drinks and helping in any way possible. During the snorkeling, the crew was extremely helpful to all the passengers. One was in the water and the other watched everyone from the boat. There was a continental breakfast and sandwich lunch served on the boat. The food was quite good. Overall, it was a much better experience than we had expected when we first showed up to board in the morning. We were all very happy we chose Aloha Blue. Lastly, we were REALLY happy to NOT go to Turtle Town. I believe we ended up going towards Makena Landing and saw 2 sharks...it was GREAT!!! I highly recommend Aloha Blue, especially because of Kekoa and his kindness. He truly loves the islands, fishing, and his job. He treated everyone with genuine kindness the entire trip. Save your money or use another charter for Fishing. The rods are so stiff you can't feel the fish biting so they just peel the bait right off your hook. It's a waste of time trolling for the lottery fish. Bottom Fishing the deckhand uses a piece of live bait catches A nice fish they called the lottery number. Somebody reels it in and gets to keep the fish. It was big enough to distribute between six people that was on the boat. There was eight of us. The staff and captain were friendly and hospitable and went through every step in detail. I knocked off one star due to the lack of fish during our trip. Feel like some cut bait aside from squid would have increased our chances. We also spotted a couple of whales which was pretty cool. we took the 7am snorkel tour with larry and kekoa. there were 6 in our party and one other group of 6, so we had plenty of space on the boat. they provided snorkels, flippers, floatation devices, breakfast (fruit and pastries), lunch (sandwiches and pasta salad), drinks (water bottles, pog, coffee & more) and post-snorkel mai tais. larry and kekoa were also very friendly and told us lots of jokes and stories, and even got a photo of me floating with a turtle! i could not have had a more positive experience my first time snorkeling and my first time seeing turtles and whales in person (we saw a couple of turtles and countless whales, including a competition pod of around 8 whales circling the crater that came close to our boat, and a breach!!). i was also traveling with seasoned snorkelers and they had a great time. larry and kekoa did a fantastic job keeping everything organized, safe, and fun. this was the highlight of my trip and i'll remember it for a long time :) thank you so much! read more

Attitude and wanted to make sure every single person caught a fish we had a party of 16 and every single of of us caught something the people helping the captain helped learned us how to fish where to fish and how to untangle the lines also was extremely friendly and knowledgeable offered free beverages from the moment we got to our area to the moment of leaving it was an absolute blast of fun we went previously to the big island and gave 3000 dollars and didn't catch NOTHING these people KNOW what there doing they have affordable prices compared to other competitors and do a better job we even got a full on dolphin watching tour seen 7-8 dolphins right next to us and not to mention a HUGE shark ate one of our fish that we was reeling in next to us !!! if you want to catch the fish of a lifetime do NOT skip on these guys they are 100% worth it people to note captain Chris Matt and of course the one and only kekoa !! read more

We booked a Molokini and Turtle Town tour two days before hand. This was one of the only tours that wasn't sold out so we didn't have much of a choice. However I am extremely happy that we booked with Aloha Blue Charters. If management is reading this, please get Daniel, Danielle and Matty G. a raise. They did an amazing job taking care of everybody on board and making sure we had an awesome experience. Safety was prioritized and they answered any questions that anybody had. We saw a crazy diversity of fish, beautiful coral, dolphins and sea turtles. It was $80 with a 6:30 AM check in and they brought us back at noon. They are a tad pricier than some competitors but please do yourself a favor and book with Aloha Blue. Our boat had maybe 30 people on it at the very most and there was plenty of room for everybody on board to move around freely. We were able to get into the water very quickly after having the boat stop. The crew was super friendly to talk to and chat with about anything. My mom was very nervous about snorkling but Danielle did an awesome job reassuring her and watching over her in the waters. This was definitely the highlight of my trip. Thanks Aloha Blue! read more

I have done different types of snorkeling adventures but this one sticks out. I loved the fact that we had a smaller group. It felt more personable than others. Two guides on the boat with us had a nice little breakfast and coffee waiting when we arrived. We got to go to two snorkeling spots, one which had multiple turtles!! Never had a captain that couldn't put you on the fishing when bottom fishing. 16 people on board and we caught 15 fish and nothing over 10" long, very disappointing. My son and I joined a shared bottom fishing trip with Aloha Blue. Captain Brain was a great guy and really wanted everyone to catch fish. He was very knowledgeable and great to talk to during the travel to and from fishing spots. My son and I did get the chance to catch some goatfish and others on the boat caught various different species. One person even caught a very nice Snapper thanks to La (deck hand and knowledgeable fisherman) hooking up a whole squid rig at one of the stops. There were about 18 people on the boat with most of them fishing and it didn't seem overly crowded. It was a beautiful morning highlighted by close encounters with manta rays, dolphins and whales. Great fun! Captain Brian and Matt took us out for a bottom fishing trip and my daughter and I had a great time. First, there was only 5 of us fishing, so we all had room to move around and it didn't feel like we were fighting for space. We didn't catch much, but that is how fishing goes. The morning trip on the same boat caught a big Ono, so you just never know. I did catch one keeper and Matt did a fantastic job of cleaning it and gave me advice on the best way to cook it. Then, Captain Brian gave us a big piece of the Ono from the earlier trip. That was so nice!!!! The other thing that I liked was that once you paid for the trip, that was it. The Aloha Blue Charters Bottomfishing is more of a boat ride than fishing. They waste time trolling for fish nearshore where there are none to be caught by trolling. They don't follow through with the statement of keep your catch. The boat caught one nice snapper, prized table fair, and they graciously shared one fillet with 14 paying customers onboard. The rest went to the boat crew after they googled and awed over the fish that was caught. Find a different boat ride or a real fishing charter! read more

One of the best fishing trips I have had the pleasure of being on! If you're looking for a great experience, uncrowded and reliable crew this is your place. I've been to a few charters in California and I have to say the Hawaii and Cali vibe are very different. This trip was so mellow and the crew knew what they were doing. We were able to snag quite a few fish and Captain Matt tried his best to land us in the right spot. Even if we wouldn't have caught anything I wouldn't have complained. The whole experience being on that boat was more than enough and just relaxing and waiting on that one tug. The whole crew was friendly, talkative and shared some of their fishing experiences. Such a fantastic experience! Our captain Matty and deck hand Matty were awesome and super professional. It was great that we went to turtle town first to avoid the crowds and had breakfast on the way there. They offer wet suits for rent for super cheap which I recommend to keep warm in the water and they help you float a bit better as well. So a bunch of turtles in turtle town and they supply you with noodles so you can float easier which really helps. Matty even got in the water on a surf board to make sure we were all good. Then off to Molikini! Amazing views - highly recommended to go see for a couple of hours. As soon as we got back to the boat they had lunch waiting for us. Perfect timing. Best thing about this boat - few people! Other charters held up to about 150 people - don't do it. Stick with aloha blue and deal with nice, professional super sweet people who make your day pleasant. All in all a fantastic experience and a great price!
