Truly the best place for services on Waikiki Beach. Ask for help and you get it. They have the top instructors and top watermen and two of the best surfing canoe captains around. I spend so much time on the water, I have observed every canoe in Waikiki catch waves and the Red and Yellow of Aloha Beach Services clearly stands out among the rest. I always feel safe when I'm riding one of their canoes, or riding and catching waves with my standup board near one of their canoes. This is where I go every single time I'm in Waikiki Beach. Every person who works here understand water conditions and when its safe to go out or not go out. If they aren't renting boards (while other stands are), know that there's a significant safety reason. Everyone is also always looking out for your safety - safety first. I don't write a lot of reviews - unless I have something good to say, I just don't bother reviewing. These folks are the best. I've been in the sports service industry for over 15 years (skiing) and recognize talent, experience and sport-related smarts - this service has it all in spade. read more

We were trying to find a place to rent paddle boards to try and found this place on Yelp. They are little right next to Duke's. Cash only business. They offer a variety of things to rent and the prices are pretty cheap. After paddle boarding some guys needed more people in order for the outrigger to go back out so we gladly hopped on. We caught 2 waves and had a blast! They take photos which you can purchase. We will definitely be back to see them when we are back on the Island. read more

I lived in Honolulu for a year but was always too nervous to surf. I came back for a vacation and finally got over myself (on the last day). Most of my friends are fantastic surfers, and I was nervous to try to learn from them. I did a private lesson with Sean who was fantastic, and got up the first time. He was incredibly helpful, and even brought me back out a few times when I was straight up exhausted. Great place to go for surfing, SUP, beach chairs, etc. Crew is all local and extremely laid back. Was gonna pay for surf lessons for both my 7 year old son and myself, but they said don't - too much $$ no need. Just get a private for my son and rent a board if I want to see him closer. So I did. I don't surf well but wanted to be with my son. He was totally fine. Josh took him out and my son was standing on the first wave. So awesome! Also, only beach shack I saw that offered video rather than just photos. I saw plenty photographers in the water, but no one doing what ABS does - Rich the videographer was SUP alongside my son to get up close video. So awesome! Great spot on the beach as well, so I highly recommend this place. read more

The best place for lessons, rentals and service! Cash only, but prices are better than anywhere else. Outrigger was fun for all ages and priced right. Local, family owned, fun and friendly. The guides were very good. JP was really friendly. Uncle Tommy was not really talkative but that was okay. I thought my family of five was going out on our own canoe, but they stuck 2 other women with us. Because of that two of my family was not able to paddle. They should have extended the excursion so they would have a chance to paddle. read more

Everyone at the stand is awesome but would definitely recommend requesting Ryan -- he's super funny and positive and you will for sure get a wave with him! We've used their services multiple times and every time has been a great experience. The Outrigger is great as well if you're looking for something different from surfing but equally as fun. They also have umbrellas and chairs for rent for anyone who just wants to relax. The stand is cash only so make sure you have some dolla bills when you're heading over! read more

Took two days of surf lessons with Uncle Lumpy, and it was fantastic! Not only did he teach me how to stand up straight on a board, but he offered some great life lessons in between waves! I would highly recommend taking a lesson with him. Uncle Lumpy keeps you safe in the water and has the patience to explain the details of how to become a better surfer. The best people at the best location on Waikiki Beach. They have been in business for over 50 years for a reason, they seriously care about making sure everyone gets to enjoy their Hawaiian vacation to the max. I got some great refresher surf lessons from Josh, who was just awesome. The boss Didi is super cool (not to mention old-school Waikiki royalty) along with his entire crew, really good local boys. I grew up in and around Waikiki for 14 years, been living on the mainland for 20 and they helped make it feel like I had never left home for the week I just spent there. We found this a pretty good deal. 2 beach chairs and umbrella for 4 hours was $42. We came an hour after they opened and didn't get front row, so keep in mind if you want front you have to get there right as they open. read more

My go to spot for rentals, they're cheap and mostly self service. Once you know the size of board you need and some experience you just grab and go. Best time is right when they open at 8am, can take a board out for real cheap and get a work out in for hours read more

My wife and I had a fabulous honeymoon in Hawaii at the Outrigger Hotel and the Beach Boys were the friendliest, nicest group of guys ever. We (2 adults and a teenager) had a private group surf lesson this morning with Sean. The entire staff was fun, professional, knowledgeable and welcoming. Sean was exactly what we hoped for in a surf instructor - friendly, patient, encouraging and just a super nice guy. There was another ABS instructor near us in the water and he seemed great also. I went to rent a board here and the staff was pretty friendly I guess, but the guy who claims to the be owner was extremely rude. He was very pompous and didn't seem to care about the fact that I was paying through the nose to rent/ take a lesson for a hour. The next day I went to a shop a few blocks from the beach instead of shoveling all my money at a shop on the beach. This idea was much better, cheaper, the people were nice, and the lesson was two hours. Don't get ripped off by people who don't at least smile when they steel from you. read more
