We had such an amazing experience with Aloha Beach Services! We did a private group surf lesson with Fritz, and he was an incredible instructor. He was funny, encouraging, and made sure everyone felt confident throughout the lesson. By the end, all 5 of us were successfully standing up on our boards! ‍ It was such a fun experience, and we couldn't have asked for a better instructor or group lesson. Highly recommend Aloha Beach Services and Fritz to anyone looking to learn how to surf on vacation! read more

The same momona Japanese older guy giving attitude again. I tried to give this business another try and they are so lazy. Yelling at me to bring the board back to the rack, instead of helping and speaking nicely. These SUP boards are either water logged or made of crappy materials, as they are way heavier than most SUPs(touring, racing, etc...). You sit around and don't do anything to help. read more

Another great experience with Aloha Beach Services. I've been taking family and clients on outrigger canoe rides with them for decades and everyone has loved the experience. The paddlers are great and funny as heck. I've also directed a lot of friends to them for surfing lessons or board rental and I get uniformly rave feedback on those. read more

Super friendly staff of locals. They'll help you get surfing even if it's your first time and you're a total beginner. The location is perfect and they have a huge selection of umbrellas, surfboards, and beach chairs. read more

We come back to these guys year after year for surf lessons. My girls both feel pretty confident on their boards, thanks to Lumpy!

A.B.S.- is without question the best operation on Waikiki Beach by a mile. Period! The history and feel is vintage Hawaii and every employee goes out of their way to ensure you have the best time on the beach+stay safe. If you want a board rental, take the family or clients on an outrigger canoe ride, or simply want a prime beach spot with an umbrella right by the water do yourself a favor and go right to Aloha Beach Services! As I said, the history and more specifically the Robello Family + all of the great employees make this a very special place. just look for the red/yellow canoe by the lifeguard tower beachside between the Outrigger Hotel and The Moana Surfrider Hotel. read more

We were lucky to happen upon this spot on the beach. One of the best deals for an umbrella and two lounge chairs - $40.00 It's sits right in front of the Westin and the beach cafe is directly behind you. Food service and restrooms available. I highly recommend these guys. Give them a try and let me know your experience. Mahalo! read more

Whoa they have really jacked up the prices. Instead of $50/day for 2 chairs and an umbrella, that's now $85. Yikes. It's still worth it, and I like that they now offer half day or by the hour prices. That's practical. But I had to downgrade the stars because this is really really pricey now. The staff is still on top of things mostly, but... I did notice that young hot women can get away with a free hour or more on a chair and but everyone else is chased off within 5 minutes. Y'all should probably work on consistently applying your rules. read more

Came here for the Outrigger canoe trip. It was challenging to find someone who was willing to go out with our 3 year old. We called all over Oahu and it seemed as though most companies even though their websites would often claim "fun for all ages" would not allow a toddler on the canoe. ABS said on the phone that it would more than likely be okay but The Capitan would have the final say depending on weather and waves and such. We planned accordingly as the waves would be more advantageous later in the week. When we arrived The Capitan was willing and gave his okay. We had a blast. Rode in on 2 waves, the guys on the boat were welcoming and gave clear instructions. Hard work but a lot of fun. I highly recommend ABS! read more

I signed my son up for private surf lessons with James who was very patient and easy to work with. By then end of the 1st lesson my son was able to stand on the surfboard and ride a wave partially in. Overall, the lessons were great as was James, can't say enough about how likable and easy to work with that James was. read more

Wow! What a great find. We were hoping to find a surf lesson for our six year old daughter but all of the ones with online booking were full. We found Aloha Beach Services and they were able to take her out right away for a one-on-one lesson. John John was her instructor and was great with her. Make sure to bring cash as they don't take cards. Would definitely come back! read more

We stayed at the Moana Surfrider Hotel and right between the Moana and Outrigger hotel is Beach hut called Aloha Beach Services. Nice group of people. Family run. We rented beach chairs, umbrellas and surf boards. We got 3 surfing lessons from them! Excellent! They really take their time and instruct you. Give you confidence. Especially Kealii (surf instructor)! Excellent! JonJon also! By my 3rd lesson, I was able to catch waves by myself! Overall excellent service! You should book directly through them instead of through the hotel. Will definitely go back and use them. Cash only (no CC) But they were able to charge it to my room at the Moana. read more

My daughter and I wanted to learn to surf while visiting the island. We chose Aloha Beach Services because they were located nearby our hotel and we knew this was the right place for us after meeting our instructor, Uncle Lumpy. We spent the first 10 minutes on the beach going through some basic safety instructions before we were guided onto the ocean. Lumpy was attentive in making sure my daughter and I were safe while teaching us how to surf. Didn't take long before both my daughter and I were able to stand up and ride the waves. We kept at it for the next hour before the lesson ended. The 90 minute lesson seemed short when we signed up but felt that was the perfect amount of time before getting too tired. Thank you Lumpy for the humor, surf instructions, and sharing your wisdom in life. We had a great time. read more

We are def surfers now (with more practice of course) and it's thanks to ABS! Will def recommend!! read more

Please take this as a warning and skip this place!! I was interested in renting a surfboard and wanted to ask about the prices and hours for renting. It was as if I was bothering them or I was unwelcome with my questions. I asked two different employees who both never looked towards me and seemed totally unfriendly. Eventually I asked a third employee why everyone was being so rude. He then proceeded to get in my face and accused me of calling his employees "lazy". He put his hand on my shoulder at one point and tried to intimidate me. I was actually thinking he might get physically violent with me so I walked away. This all happened right on the beach in front of their rental hut. I am not sure if it was a bad day for the business, if i was an unwelcomed tourist or something else. I am still utterly shocked and I have never felt more confused, uncomfortable and threatened while visiting a business. I hope that the Aloha Beach Service realizes that customer service and just being downright helpful is a benefit for business and the community. There are two other rental places just a short walk down the beach. Please take this as a warning and skip this place. read more

A group of us had never tried surfing so we decided to show up at Aloha Beach services early in the morning and see if they could fit us in. The price of $50 per person per hour was a lot better than the other prices that we found online. Kaleo and James Worked together to teach our group of five. I would definitely take a lesson from those two again. Both men were professional and competent and helpful. read more

Our hotel was less than block from the beach and decided to go outrigger canoeing at the last minute with no reservations late afternoon. We were a party of 7 and wasn't sure we'd all fit into one canoe. ABS had the closest canoe and we all got on, plus two guides. What a fun wild and wet time we had. The guide allowed us to ride 2 additional waves, 4 overall as a bonus. I think because of all the attention we were getting from wooting and hollering so much, we became a paddling advertising billboard. They charged cash only, $25pp. We tried to negotiate the price but they didn't budge. The 'uncle' in charge there seemed a little grouchy as it was late in the afternoon, he looked ready to go home. But the canoe guide was cool and he showed us a super time, and allowed us to take plenty of pictures. Great memories indeed. read more

CA$H ONLY My family and I were set on doing something new and different on our vacation to Hawaii and somehow ended up choosing to outrigger. After calling a slew of places for availability and prices we settled on Aloha Services - $20/person and no appointment needed (just call ahead and make sure a captain is available). The entire experience was great. Each vessel holds 5 people and my 3 year old niece was also able to ride! The captain was good; gave clear instructions and guided us to catch three good sized waves. Highly recommend if you are looking for something different to try. read more

NEVER rent from these people. Walk the 100 yards on Waikiki to a different vendor, it will be worth it. It's all about service - I have been in sales my whole life, it doesn't matter what you sell, it's the service that makes people go back. Let's start with the renting of paddle boards for my family (3 total), he took my money not once looking up, pointed to where the PB were - I looked at him and asked "how do I know when my hour is up" - his priceless response "that's something you'll need to figure out". What? No help carrying boards, no one asked if we were familiar with PB, no help getting them out of the water. Yet, when my daughter was all done and trying to get her board out of the water, A DIFFERENT EMPLOYEE FROM A COMPETING vendor helped her out of the water. On a different day (maybe they would be nicer) They treated both my son and daughter (both over the age of 21) like trash. We had people in the water ask us about this vendor because they heard and saw similar situations. There are several vendors in Waikiki Beach that have the Aloha spirit - use them - your vacation will be all the more sweeter and memorable. Mahalo read more

Rented a longboard this morning. Attendant had no greetings, aloha (to me at least). Only transcational: "Name?" "Write name there, sign." "$20 owa (hour). 5 dolla next owa." "Cash only." As a returning local, it was a sad experience. But next second a girl walks up and the guy perks up. Same when a Caucasian family approaches. Whatever...it's not a competition but why the 180 switch. So, I return the board and tell same guy I'm back. Zero acknowledgement like "hey" or "cool" or "welcome back", just head down & scribbles something on clipboard. I say thanks for watching my stuff while I was in ocean. Nothing. People aren't looking for red carpet service but have some courtesy. You are running, representing a business, rental service in a prime tourist spot. Greet, treat customers with some level of hospitality and professionalism. read more

Highly recommend KEALII for your next surfing lesson. I have never surfed and this was my first lesson. He was calm, relaxed, and knew how to teach effectively. Within a matter of minutes, I caught my first wave. You don't have to be a great swimmer or in great shape. Give these guys a try, ask for Kealii and you'll be glad. I was lucky to have Richie Rich their videographer join us. He caught some hilarious bloopers and all 6 of my wins. Overall I am grateful for Aloha Beach Services! I went to this place due to yelp reviews about 2 PM. They closed at 4 and I was not carrying cash. Yes! This is a cash only place. One of the guys here told me to be on the shack next day at 8 AM. I got there at 8:15 AM and there was no one there. I asked around and they told me the guys don't really show up that early and to give it some time. 20 minutes later a very rude guy showed up and basically told me they will not really be open for another hour and if I didn't like that I could take my business elsewhere, and I did. Walked up and asked how much surf lessons were. $50 per person in a group lesson of 4. We got Uncle Blue and Josh as our instructor. They were awesome! Uncle Blue has been doing this for 50 years. He was so kind. He even would give instruction to tourists who were struggling not taking lessons. He even loaned a woman his board because hers was too short for a first timer. She got up on her next try! Josh took time to work with my youngest one on one until he was literally doing the hula while surfing. I can't express how much fun we had and how cool and encouraging they were to me and my three kids (13, 10, and 7). We all got to ride a bunch of waves and they had another guy out there taking pictures on his GoPro (additional cost). The pictures were great, the instruction was awesome and the price was right. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

I have vacationed in Oahu for many years now and this has been by far one of my most memorable trips! I have been to other beach stands along Waikiki Beach in the past but your company stands out for me because of your crews' genuine hospitality, friendliness and laid-back environment. In addition, being a family owned company, you know how to connect with your customers. In today's society, a lot of that is truly gone. Your team at Aloha Beach Services makes you feel welcome and definitely want you to have an enjoyable and fun experience while on vacation. Whether you want to just sit on the beach, take lessons paddle boarding or surfing, or rent tubes & mats, you have everything there. Definitely check it out. read more

Spent a week in Waikiki over Christmas/New Year's - I cannot say enough about this lovely team. Professional, funny, laid-back, they made my family's vacation so special. We spent 90% of our time on the beach in front of The Moana. Every morning we showed up and Lumpy had carefully set up our umbrella and beach chairs. My mother loved her stand-up paddle boarding and surfing lessons and one of the highlights of my sister's trip was a ride in the outrigger canoe. Fritz, Shayne, Didi - every ABS employee we encountered was wonderful. The best part? They take photos and videos out on the waves FOR you, so you can take your memories home on disc. ADVICE: This business is cash only! Make sure to reserve in advance; they work on one of the busiest parts of the beach (outside Duke's) so the spots go quickly once the sun it up! read more

Ignorant assholes is probably the best way I can sum up this company. Was sitting on the beach early morning. Guy came out. Dropped cones. Didn't say a word to us. 20 minutes later went in the water. Came out to see they placed the outrigger right where we were sitting. Also the entire boat was on top of my saddles. I politely went to the desk asked if it was there boat. They said yes. I said my sandals are under it. He asked if we sat down after they had placed cones. To which I said no. We we were there way before anyone else. I asked him if he could move the boat so I could retrieve my flip flops. To which he responded. I'll get to it later. I moved the boat. Should have pushed it into the water. read more
