Aloha Beach Camp this is the 4th year of camp we signed our son up for. It is really nice when you can drop you child off at the camp bus that is going to drive him to Zuma Beach. There are numerous locations of bus spots to make it easier for the parents. Ethan has had so much fun boogieboarding and he took a surf lessons with the camp counselors. This is his favorite camp to go to. They have various games the kids can play with the counselors setting them up. Or if your child is like mine. They are in the water or chilling on the sand. Last year my nephew from Texas came to California and went to Aloha Beach camp with Ethan. Talin my nephew gave my sister rave reviews. They ratio of counselors to campers is wonderful ! Aloha Beach Camp - can't say enough great things! We live about 20-30 minutes from the beach, and our 8 year old went without knowing anyone. We signed him up for a Mon-Thur with the option to add on the Friday if he liked it... When we picked him up the first day, he enthusiastically wanted us to sign him up for the Friday. He loved it so much that he's going back this year for two weeks!! He is also super into boogie boarding now too, which is a fun activity to share with him when the whole family goes to the beach. It will be our 5th summer with Aloha Beach Camp this year and we still love it. The kids enjoy the beach time, the surf lessons, the Wednesday paddleboarding/kayak outing, the occasional shaved ice truck. It's great that as they get older, they get a little more independence while also still being supervised. Our kiddos love it. And we love the convenience of the bus schedule. Teri is also a great communicator. Sometimes traffic messes with the bus schedule but we've never been worried as the information was always communicated. Highly recommend. read more

My daughter started going here when she was 6 and she absolutely it. We're starting our third summer here and she's so excited for it. The counselors are so much fun and the business is managed really well. It's easy to get answers to any questions you may have. My main concern was safety, and I feel very safe sending my daughter here. There are many counselors around at all times, and they keep the kids safe in the water. Very bad up this is the saddest camp I've ever been too it's like the giver sad and your trapped to a 50x50 spot on the beach with hundreds of kids the counselors cuss a lot and talk bad about other kids behind there back I know this because I could hear them on the bus. Please don't send you kids here it exposes them to things that they don't need to hear and is the most boarding thing in life. Worst camp ever read more

I write but from the perspective of a mother of an almost-five year old that attended camp last summer. I think parents should keep the kiddos' age in mind and their abilities. The bus ride from Studio City to Malibu was simply too long for little ones (2.5 hours total per day) and the bus ride to the field trip was even longer. The bus also did not leave on time even though we were told a strict schedule would be kept. And then, the waves were too big so for safety reasons, there was no surfing for an entire week (that's no fault to the camp or anyone that works there, of course). The counselors were lovely. I'd be interested in trying again when my little one is bigger but felt like I wasted my money since all my daughter did for one week was play in the sand (that's usually free). read more

THE BEST CAMP EVER!!!! This will be my daughter's fifth year at Aloha Beach Camp. Aloha has changed her life. She struggles in school, and has a hard time making friends. Team anything was not her thing. She discovered a passion for surfing while at camp. The counselors have supported her every step of the way. She now surfs before school!! She has found confidence, and a sense of herself. Aloha has been a gift for both of us. She comes home exhausted from a day filled with surf, swim and cool activities that aren't babyish for her age group. I can't thank Aloha enough. I recommend This camp to all kids of all ages. My daughter has attended Aloha Beach Camp for the past 2 summers. It is the highlight of her summer break. When we first looked into it, we were worried about safety, being the water and Covid and all, but after the virtual Open House we felt great about the decision to send her. The staff are wonderful and have such safety features in place that we knew she would be well cared for and looked after. The first summer, her being young and us being nervous, we drove her each day, but this summer she rode the bus - what a great time she had meeting new friends and chatting on her way to and from camp. This summer she also had a field trip day to a lake where they paddle boarded and kayaked - she enjoyed it so much we went kayaking on our summer vacation a few weeks later. She lost her prescription eyeglasses on the field trip day and after putting an email out to Eric and Teri, they went above and beyond looking for them and actually found them. They really care about their campers and their campers' families, and their experiences with Aloha. The surfing, boogie-boarding, games, and spirit days they put together are all so appreciated. We've already blocked out a few weeks for her to go again this next summer! read more

Well...where do i start? Aloha beach camp was disappointing in every way. Compared to other beach camps we have done in santa monica and the palisades this paled in comparison. They advertise offering over 200 activities but for the entire week but i didn't see any other than boogie boarding. Their set up is very basic which is surprising as they charge $170/day. Camp counselors seem uninterested and low energy. I called the office to ask questions and was told i would receive a call back but never did. We also never received a t-shirt and rash guard until mid way through the week. I was so disappointed by this camp and surprised to see raving reviews. I can only think that most parents have not been to the actual camp site as most of the kids are bussed in from different areas. I drove my daughter each day and was surprised to see how disorganized the camp was. Sorry to say it was a first and last time for us. read more

Of all the camps my kids went to when they were younger, Aloha Beach Camp was their absolute favorite! They had so much fun, and came home happy every day. I have worked at Aloha Beach Camp for a year now and from the time I have been there Aloha has been a great experience for countless of kids and families alike. The kids participate in activities such as kayaking paddle boarding and small boat rides. The camp is organized and fun to work at. My brother has also recently attended the camp as a camper and he enjoyed it a lot. He had a blast participating in all the water sessions and all the activities that were available that day. Can't praise them enough! I found this camp while looking around for a fun academic camp locally. Instead, I found Aloha on Yelp! I was reading the reviews and was quite impressed with the owner's response to a review, so much so, that I reached out to compliment the sincerity, humility and diplomacy with which he addressed his clients. Eric is a cool dude. He is extremely considerate, thoughtful and cares deeply about the kids' experiences. He worked with us on payments as well. The real deal here though is that - our little one had a total blast! Her favorite experience by far was the lake. Where I would generally be concerned at her running off to play in a lake with strangers, I had complete confidence in the camp counselors (Thanks Molly!), who would even text me if the bus schedule was a bit off. Our daughter filled the airwaves with stories of kids, boats, tubing, boogie boarding, crafts - and she did learn about the ocean and some ecology as well. The camp is REALLY flexible which is awesome if you have a swiftly moving schedule, you can opt to go day by day if you wish. When my little one hit one really cold day and one scorcher at the beach, she asked for more lake time which was her favorite, and we adjusted accordingly which was fabulously convenient. I would suggest checking the weather and making sure your munchkin has a wet suit if it is a cold day. Also, if you have a slow eater, maybe have them purchase hot lunch as the seagulls are waiting... Another cool thing, is kids meet other kids from the Valley, Beverly Hills, Westlake Village - and - they are well observed by warm counselors who love to get in the water and be completely present with the kids. This means friends in different areas can go together, and often take the same easy bus. While moms can also get together and chill. Overall, this was such a fabulous find!! Go for it! read more

Aloha Beach Camp is the best summer camp in Los Angeles! My daughter was always with a counselor who swam with her and gave her one on one attention during the surfing lessons. All of the counselors pay such close attention to all of the kids and reapply sunscreen very often. I feel really safe sending my daughter here. I also appreciate the fact that have free transportation provided. I've always had to pay for transportation at other summer camps, so this is much appreciated. Aloha Beach Camp is the BEST camp experience my son has had. He has been to other camps over the years, even beach camps. He has always enjoyed camp although some have gotten old after a while. He always told me he wanted to go to surf camp. So, I started looking and found Aloha Beach Camp. What initially drew me to Aloha Beach Camp is the variety of activities the kids have the option to participate in in addition to surfing. Also, transportation is included from a convenient location so my work schedule didn't get messed up trying to get my son to and from camp. When I told my son about the camp and showed him the website and videos, his face lit up and he begged me to enroll him daily for the whole summer. So, I took the leap of faith based on the rave reviews and amazing videos we saw of the happy campers. Well, it has turned out to be the best camp decision I made. He was over the moon, came home happy and tired every day. He made great friends and loves the counselors too! At the end of summer, my son begged me to let him go back next year. And the rest is history! He is a regular at Aloha Beach Camp and happily spends every summer day with them. This is a kid who has a hard time getting up early in the morning for school, but who jumps out of bed at that same time during the summer to catch the bus to camp. I heard about this camp through a friend and have loved sending my kids there ever since! I would recommend this camp to any family that has kids and wants them to have a great summer. I send my kids from Orange County to Malibu since there is no other camp in my area that can compete. The entire staff is amazing and the counselors care as much about the kids as the owners do. I def recommend Aloha beach camp if you're looking for a safe & good time for your kids. I attended one of their open houses that took place at Taxco trails park, the staff were very welcoming, informative, friendly & wonderful w/my kid. They even played baseball w/Sebastian (my son) while Eric (the owner) walked me through everything. It was then I decided I had to give the camp a try. Sebastian had an awesome time, he came back w/so much to share. He made so many friends & couldn't stop mentioning how fun, Alyx, Sarah & Tib (the counsellors) made it. I can't wait for him to go again this year bc this time around some of his friends are joining him. How could I not share this incredible experience friends that attended Sebastian's birthday party in March. Some did find it pricey but after considering the hours these ppl are putting in, the fun the kids have & the amazing experience, it's totally worth it. God knows taking care of Sebastian isn't a walk in the park, sometimes. It's a demanding job but they make it fun & educational. What more could you ask for? read more

Another fantastic year. This year my daughter is back to Aloha as a CIT, helping out with the teeniest campers (just as she used to be!) She's loving helping out and it is a wonderful experience for her to have the responsibility on the other side of the camp routine. She's already said that she wants to go back as a CIT again next year. It's kudos to Terri and Eric, the camp owners, who really give it their all, with tremendous (and safe) results. There is the world we exist in every day, and there is camp world and the camp world that this organization creates is one that the kids just thrive in. (Plus they always look super cool in the T-Shirts and water shirts that are given to every camper.) I love this camp. It is great for kids of all ages. I have friends who live in la and in the san fernando valley and it is great that we can send our kids to the same camp. The buses are also amazing! They have seat belts to ensure a safe ride to and from the beach. The counsellors are extremely friendly and are CPR/First aid/lifeguard certified. One of my biggest concerns was sun burns but my kids have never come home red. Their counsellors constantly remind the kids to put on sunscreen which my kids need as they are very forgetful. The owners are the sweetest people and will take the time to listen to your needs. What's even more amazing is the day by day enrollment. You don't have to worry about week long commitments at a time. As a working woman, my schedule always changes and this option is perfect. 5 stars for sure!
