My older son loved it so much that he is now becoming a Junior Leader, which says everything about how meaningful Cali Camp has been for him. My younger son, who is in 2nd grade, went for the first time last year and is already so excited to go back. What really stood out to me was how quickly they both adapted. My younger son joined not knowing anyone and felt welcomed almost immediately. Both of my boys felt included from day one. The staff is incredibly caring, supportive, and attentive. You can truly feel that they work hard to create a safe, joyful environment for the kids, and as a parent that means everything. The activities are fantastic: well planned, age appropriate, engaging, and fun. The natural setting is also beautiful and feels especially important these days. My boys came home with confidence, stories, friendships, and summer memories they will cherish forever. And the camp spirit is real. We still sing the silly songs at home, especially the announcements song whenever we have a family announcement, and the birthday song too. I cannot recommend Cali Camp enough. It has been such a special part of our family's life.

Extremely Disappointed - Do Not Send Your Kids Here…read more My son attended Camp Keystone last summer and loved it, so we were excited for him to return. Unfortunately, this year has been a completely different--and deeply upsetting--experience. At pickup, my 6-year-old was in tears and told me that a 13-year-old Counselor in Training yelled at him that he was "tired of him" and then threw him to the ground. Yes, my son had thrown a piece of chalk--something we've addressed and made clear was wrong--but the violent and aggressive response from an older child in a leadership role is completely unacceptable. Worse, there was no adult supervision when this happened, and no camp staff informed us. We only found out from our son. When I contacted the camp, they minimized the incident and failed to take any real accountability. The 13-year-old was not dismissed, and in fact, is being allowed to remain in the Counselor in Training program and return next summer to supervise other children. The camp's own Code of Conduct says it will not tolerate violence--but they are clearly not following through. This was not just a kid-to-kid disagreement. This was a teenager in a position of responsibility physically assaulting a child half his age. If Camp Keystone does not take this seriously, parents should. I can no longer recommend this camp to anyone. There is a complete lack of oversight, accountability, and concern for camper safety. We will not be returning, and I urge other parents to think twice before sending their children here.

I liked that a hot breakfast was included in the camp price and they were able to purchase lunch or bring their own if they stayed for the rest of the day. This camp is great for students who want to maintain academics with flexibility of weeks to choose from. My boys are very shy and the fact that they felt comfortable and enjoyed going to camp is another reason why I'm giving five stars.

She also came home upset about the kids bullying her and the counselors did nothing about it. After care is literally a movie in a storage room - I also walked in on the babysitter yelling at my daughter. Again, livid. The straw that broke the camels back was I forgot to pay for lunch for the week (but thought I did) - they didn't even feed my kid and bill me later (which would've been the humane thing to do). My daughter was bored - Spark is worksheets, and the extra fee for arts and crafts/drawing was them tracing and building crafts we could do at home.

Coach Connie was my daughter's first coach. So I can tell you first hand what an amazing coach she is. In all that time, I have only ever seen a safe, positive, and family-oriented environment. The coaches are incredible -- not only do they help the kids grow as athletes, but they also teach respect, discipline, and responsibility. Sometimes children may not always listen or act respectfully, but I know firsthand that the coaches are always focused on keeping the kids safe and guiding them in the right direction. We have trusted Monarchs with our daughter for over a decade, and I can say with complete confidence that this is one of the safest and most caring gyms you will find. If misunderstandings occur, I would hope families take time to reflect and acknowledge if they were wrong, because the coaches and staff here deserve nothing but respect and appreciation for the work they do. Thank you, Monarchs, for being such an important part of our daughter's life and for always supporting these athletes in the best way possible!

YES I DID CALL POLICE FOR THE ASSAULT ON A FIVE YEAR OLD BY A COACH. My daughter is five and had just come back to coach connie after missing 3 weeks of classes. She wasn't sticking the landing so coach Connie wouldn't give her a high five. My daughter was upset and when it was time to send all the girls for water all three girls ran to the water station where I WITNESSED CONNIE GRAB AND YANK MY CHILD BY THE ARM. She turned her entire body around aggressively to threaten her. I ran over and picked my daughter up and told coach connie that there was no reason to ever grab a child like that. My daughter said she was scared and hurting and that coach Connie told her she was going to punish her. I went to the front office where they pulled the footage, confirmed and said my daughter shouldn't have ran around the corner and it is their protocol to grab the child running around the corner. Only my child was grabbed. The coach was frustrated with my child for not sticking the landing and with her crying. This isn't how anybody working with children should react. I contacted the police department which I believe is lapd. They confirmed they saw the coach grab my daughter but that they stated the owner and the coach both said were safety protocols and because she didn't push, hit, or shove that they couldn't prove assault. Disappointing and disgusted to say the least! IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR CHILD SAFE. DONT GO HERE!

My son has made wonderful friendships with children who have grown right alongside him, and it has been amazing to watch. The teachers put so much heart, dedication, and genuine care into what they do every day, and it shows. A special thank you to Miss Jonnay! She has been an incredible teacher to my son, and I am so grateful for the care and attention she gives him. She keeps me updated, celebrates his successes, and truly understands him. Over the last couple of months, I've seen such a big change in him, he's grown in confidence, understanding, and independence. It means so much to have someone who spends her days with him, notices these milestones, and genuinely cares about his development. The support she provides feels like having a second mother in his corner. Miss Tressa has created such a special place for children to learn, explore, and experience their first years of education. This school is truly a hidden gem, and I feel incredibly lucky to have found it and to be part of this community. If you're considering this school, I encourage you to visit and meet the staff. You'll quickly see how passionate, caring, and dedicated they are. We couldn't be more grateful for the love and support our family has received here.

Editing to recognize certain teachers:…read more I have gone back and forth for over a year about writing this review. Parents deserve to know what we experienced before trusting this school with their children. Our experience started off well. Like every daycare, there were minor issues here and there, and we gave the school grace because no childcare center is perfect. The problem wasn't that mistakes happened. The problem was that the mistakes kept getting more serious, and every concern was met with excuses, denial, or an attempt to make us feel like we were overreacting. Looking back, I wish I had trusted my instincts and left much sooner. One of our first major concerns happened in the infant room. My daughter came home with bleach stains all over her pants. The teacher admitted they had sprayed bleach on her high chair, forgot to wipe it down, and then placed my infant in it. That should never happen. Then came something even more alarming. I picked up my infant one afternoon, and she screamed hysterically from hunger the entire drive home. I checked Brightwheel because I assumed someone had simply forgotten to log her bottles. Instead, I discovered there were no bottle entries because they had not fed her formula all day. Not a missed log..a missed feeding. As a parent, that is terrifying. Then there were the coyote issues. Coyotes were coming right up to the school fence and parents even photographed a coyote standing right outside the children's fence (see attached). Tressa's response? Cayenne pepper around the perimeter. It took months of parents pushing before only one small section of fencing was raised. To this day, much of the fence remains low. Another issue involved mold. The children's play couch had mold covering the bottom. Rather than simply acknowledging the problem and informing parents of mold exposure, the initial response was that it "might be black paint." Parents know what mold looks like. Cleanliness was another ongoing concern. My children routinely came home with dried food on their faces, dirty hands, and crusted noses. This wasn't dirt from outdoor play. They simply weren't being cleaned throughout the day. My children were constantly sick while attending this school. The final straw was something I still cannot believe happened. My daughter came home wearing the exact same diaper I put on her that morning. It was soaked, sagging, cold, and hanging to her knees. I immediately contacted Tressa. Rather than investigating what happened, her first response was that another child also wore Coterie diapers and the teachers must have accidentally used someone else's diaper. That explanation fell apart almost immediately. Coterie prints a unique quality-control code on every diaper in a package. The diaper my daughter came home wearing had the exact same code as the open package sitting in my house. It was the diaper I put on her that morning. Only after I sent photographs proving it did the apologies begin. That was the day I reported the school to Community Care Licensing. Despite all of this, I want to recognize the people who made our experience better. Ms. Chandler, Ms. Jonnay, Ms. Jenn, and Ms. Debbie are wonderful educators who genuinely love children, and my daughters adored them. I also want to acknowledge that my daughters loved Ms. Tressa as well. My criticism is not about whether Tressa cares about children. I believe she does. My criticism is about leadership. Running a preschool requires more than caring about kids. It requires accountability, transparency, and the ability to admit when something went wrong and fix it. Instead, I consistently felt dismissed. Concerns were minimized. Excuses came before accountability. I was repeatedly made to feel like I was simply a difficult parent for raising legitimate health and safety concerns. An experienced director once worked at the school and made noticeable improvements because she accepted responsibility and addressed problems head-on. I truly believe the school would benefit tremendously from hiring an experienced director and allowing that person to manage the day-to-day operations. Tressa, if you're reading this, this review isn't being written because mistakes happened. Every school makes mistakes. This review exists because of how those mistakes were handled. Your response to concerns was almost always to deny, minimize, or explain them away instead of simply acknowledging them and making meaningful changes. My daughters are thriving at their new school. Every teacher they've had at ANY school has described them as kind, respectful, and a joy to have in class. They weren't the problem. I wasn't the problem. Parents raising concerns about children's health and safety are not the problem. I sincerely hope this school improves because the children deserve it. But until accountability becomes a priority, I cannot recommend that families entrust their children to this daycare.
