I have stayed in many, many, MANY hotels over the years. My experience at Aloft has certainly been good. The room itself is really unique (as it of course feels like a loft) and uses great new technologies, like being able to open your door with your mobile phone! The breakfast burritos at the food window are really great and I've found myself having one every morning. The staff here is quite helpful and very friendly. The shower have nice dispensers on the walls for shampoo and body wash - a nice change from the annoying standard, tiny bottles that are just awkward to use. If I had any complaint, it's just some hair on the floor in the bathroom. I wish they would've gotten to a bit more under the sink when cleaning. Other than this, I really love the establishment and will come back! read more

Imagine a hipster on a bad acid trip designing a hotel. Then imagine staffing it with people who aren't trained and leaving the rooms uncleaned. Now you've created the Frisco Aloft hotel. Lobby: The lobby is concept appropriate. Something like an upscale ski house with bad music playing too loud. There is no respite from this, it's even loader in the painfully slow elevators. They offer free coffee in the morning but when we went to get some we were told they had no lids! Really? How do you let that happen? Staff: 50/50 for the staff. At the front desk they smile a lot and have a good attitude but when there is a problem (more on this below) they are untrained. The supervisor was friendly. The are no managers, at least that's what i was told by the front desk. Housekeeping is nonexistent. Rooms: An austere room with an IKEA mattress would be talking it up. Someone called it W light, but W is already lite! No drawers, no closets, just a wall of shelves built against the back of the bathroom. I thought there was no iron and board, but turns out it was hidden behind the bed in a small cove that I only found because something dropped off the small plank of wood they use as a nightstand. The toilet has a sliding door providing minimal privacy. But what's worse is the shower. The hotel add calls it a falling rain shower head. I believe that's code for no water pressure. I felt like I was at my gym because instead of bars of soap there are dispensers bolted on the wall. I'm uncertain if it was the quality of the soap, or the hardness of the water, but no matter how much I rinsed I still felt residue. In an effort to be chic, they put a pane of frosted glass between the shower, which is in the tiny toilet cubby, and the bedroom. I guess never thought about the fact that if you use the toilet at night you will wake up your GF/BF with the glaring light coming through it. They do provide free internet but severely throttled. I used speed test and it never climbed above 1.8 MBPS. My cell service was faster. I would happily have paid for the option of more bandwidth. There is a nice size flat screen tv that, no matter what you do, always defaults back to the hotel services menu. That might be tolerable if it wasn't constantly pushing to sell the Adult channel. My romance is fine ALOFT, don't need your help there. Furthering the minimalist concept, I believe the walls are made of paper mâché. The room next door got frisky and I was treated to YES. YES. YES for a while during the night. One benefit, we are competitive so answered back with our own version. Maybe that's a feature? Housekeeping: This is where the one star really comes in. They don't clean the rooms. We broke a glass the first morning there. We cleaned up as much as we could and called the front desk to let them know. We were assured that the rooms were vacuumed every day. When we returned, exhausted from a day out, we were surprised to find shards of glass still on the floor. We were more surprised to find hair on the bed. Don't they change the sheets? But the cap was when I sat at the plank of wood they bolt to the wall as a desk. I needed to get an email out so fired up my computer and sat down, and went right to the floor. Turns out the cheap garbage chair stem was broken and when I sat the whole thing went over. Doesn't housekeeping check over the rooms between guests? We called down to the front desk to speak to a manager. Imagine my surprise when I was told there were none. Incredulous, I stammered "how is that possible?" Eventually I was told they would find the shift supervisor. Forgetting the fact that this would be the "manager" I asked for, how can there be no real management at the hotel? To his credit the supervisor was apologetic, got housekeeping to vacuum the glass up and searched out a working chair for us. He committed to comping the room, which was a nice gesture. I prepaid, so not sure if I will ever see the credit. We have another night here, maybe it will get better..... I decided we would stay at the Aloft hotel because it was close to the kids. Starwoods Hotels has been courting my business and I thought it would be comparable to one of the numerous other chains in the area. It is not. If you are in your twenties and have no experience with basic hotel amenities, this might seem like a hip, fun place. You could get an upscale youth hostel feel here. However, if you've ever stayed at a hotel before and have expectations that a night at the ALOFT would be comparable, you would be wrong. Nice, comfy, clean beds and rooms. The hotel is ideal for people on a short business trip, not really a hotel for a romantic getaway or an extended family stay. There is no restaurant - only an area where you can purchase 'snack food' like you'd find at a gas station and they do have a bar. FREE SHUTTLE service within 5 miles which took me every night to and from the local 'Shops at Legacy' - good food! The pool is small - maybe only 12-18 feet long and maybe 8-12 feet wide. The gym was nice, clean, convenient - used it everyday I was there! (Free headphones and towels in there to use) Stayed here for 4 nights (Tuesday through Friday) and was there for business - my company booked this hotel for me and I was pleased. I would definitely recommend this hotel. I only gave 4/5 stars because of the lack of a restaurant (fresh food to order) and due to the info about happy hour not being updated on the TV screens in-room resulting in me paying full price for a drink. read more

Great hotel. Small and quiet. Love the modern decor. We had issues with our shower door and bathroom door, which they were quick to fix and very accommodating. There is no room service, but there is a small "store" which has salads, salads, cereals, bagels, hummus. Fruits, and frozen and microwaved foods. Quite a large selection. The pool was FREEZING but the staff turned on the heater when we asked. (Who wants to swim in a 70 degree pool??) it took several hours for it to even come up a few degrees, thus the four stars instead of five. If you're going to have an outdoor only pool, it has to be comfortable enough for people to get in. read more

What I was looking for: affordable trendy overnight stay before taking my mom to DFW airport. A room with 2 queen beds on my spg app came out to $77 with taxes. Location is great, near the legacy shops in Frisco, eating, drinking in the suburbs. The beds are okay. Don't stay for longer than 2 nights because your back will hate you. But you can't beat the price, the vibe, and the friendliness of the staff. It is completely non smoking (yay), you do not get breakfast or lobby coffee or anything, so don't expect it. But there is coffee in the room. Not packed tonight so no problem with noise. There is a bar downstairs that looks pretty cozy, in a modern minimalist kind of way. The bathroom is pretty small and darkened- with a severely muted overhead light. Do not stay here if you're claustrophobic, or afraid of dark places. Summary: This is the cadillac of motels. It lacks all the amenities that a hotel would have. It is bare bones, with nice decor, clean surroundings and helpful staff. Do not overpay for this place, have the right expectations, and you'll love your stay. read more

The front desk staff here is incredibly unwelcoming. The hotel is filthy. The elevators are caked with grime and smell like cigarette smoke. With so many other options in the area, there is never a reason to stay at this dump. The condition of the hotel would never prompt me to leave such a dismal review, but the service will. I've stayed here twice, traveling to Plano regularly. I am a SPG/Marriott elite and stay roughly 200 nights per year at various properties across the US. This is quite possibly the least hospitable front desk service I have seen anywhere. Sometimes ambivalent, at times downright rude. During both of my stays, I felt as though the front desk could have cared less if I were there at best and generally just didn't want me to be there for the most part - Message received. read more

There were a few things I liked about this hotel. Good location and the service was friendly enough. There were coffee pods in the room, (and therefore two outlets in the bathroom for my hair dryer and one for my hair straightener), a mini fridge, soap dispenser in the shower so nothing goes to waste. However, while I like the concept of the hotel is what I was looking for, it ends up feeling like a cheap version of the NYLO hotel. At the end of the day, I would just rather have stayed there. Again, 3 stars because there was nothing majorly wrong. Just that you can tell that some parts of the hotel were cheap and needed updating. read more

The service at the front desk was phenomenal, she went out of her way to find a room than met my specification, which was top floor so no one above and away from traffic. The room was nice, modern, big flat panel TV, raindrop shower head, mini fridge, lockbox, except the furniture placement was a little odd, not very efficient, and there was no closet, no drawer, just a big shelf with curtain and a hand full of of hangers, I requested a few more hangers and they were delivered in no time, I found the iron and ironing board hidden on the other side of the bed. Seems they only expect travelers to stay a night or two the most. The exercise equipments downstairs were new and clean, and they provide new headphones and plenty of towels, would be nice to have empty bottles for the water cooler. And beware of a bunch of giggling 12-13 yr old girls, perhaps future Brandi Chastain and Mia Hamm, having a mini soccer match in the exercise room, nothing like a big @ss exercise ball whacking you in the back when you're on the treadmill. The lounge/bar was cool, they have a pool table, and a pool outside in back, people tend to hangout next to the pool to smoke, I was on the fourth floor and I could still hear them until 1 am in the morning, there was no window, I guess the noise came in through the AC opening. Thursday night was the worst, since I had to get up early the next morning, wasn't so bad on Friday night, cuz I was down there with them. The grab and go was convenient, I had enough coupons for breakfast, baked goods, coffee, juices, and water for the entire time. FYI, the egg and sausage sandwiches are frozen, nuked to order. A clean, minimalist hotel. The room is VERY basic with little room for two people. This would be an excellent place for overnight business travelers. No room service. Terrible food served at the bar in the lobby. To be more specific, I landed at 9pm on Sunday and ate "Chicken sliders" at the bar-- which were microwaved chicken nuggets on tiny buns. Really disappointing. For business travel, it stinks to stay at a place without room service. It's a strange choice for Aloft who is clearly targeting business travelers. I'm moving over to the NYLO hotel which isn't more expensive, and looks much nicer. With that said, if terrible food options are ok with you because you have business dinners to attend every night and breakfast out on site, then the room is pretty nice and so are the staff. read more

Used Aloft Plano as the cheaper option for some of our wedding guests (and ourselves). The prices, room itself and location are good, but as far as choosing this place to block out rooms and book in bulk, meh, don't do it. I started off talking to Samantha and then she suddenly disappeared and her e-mails would bounce back. When I tried to contact Aloft to see who our new rep would be, it never goes through to a person directly and you'd have to wait on the phone for a really long time, often just leaving a voicemail anyways. Getting married in the area? Check out Marriott across the street at Legacy Town Center - they are AWESOME. Following our stay, we were sent a survey by corporate with these sentiments of our experience. No feedback or anything. Just come here if you're spending a quick night in the area - don't come here for the service. read more

I stayed here recently while in town for a reunion (hosted at the hotel) as well as business travel the few days prior. I had stayed at an Aloft before, but really didn't have a chance to appreciate all it has to offer. Possibly one of the best features is the Green program, where you can skip having your room made up in return for a $5 voucher. I saved up two of these and had free breakfast on the third day! It's pretty much a grab and go counter, but I tend to travel with breakfast bars and other snacks, so the lack of a full restaurant didn't bother me. The pool was small but I had it to myself most days, so that didn't matter. The fitness room was WAY more than I expected! There was a location of my gym nearby but I never went because the hotel gym was so fully outfitted with cardio, weights, yoga mats and stability balls. The staff on duty (particularly Joseph at the front desk and the bartender) the night of our reunion were awesome. I don't think they had a clue how big our group was going to be (even though we told the sales person who booked our meeting room). They were very patient and accommodating even though we kept them hopping all night. Parking is just fine...plenty of spots. Most of the time, I parked in view of my room. A few times I was on the side of the building, but I was closer to my exit door then. Can't beat that for free parking. I would definitely stay at an Aloft again, and particularly, this one when in this part of town. It was a good value for the $. read more

Very cool place with some interesting rooms. I love the eclectic, art-deco look and the pool table in the lobby. The large flat screens in the rooms were great, and the desks and beds were amazingly comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the amenities were great. The lobby has some very funky furniture and a great bar for those after meeting conversations. If you need a different, cool place to stay while you're in Plano then I'd definitely stay here. read more

On star for lying to me. So i have stayed at this hotel before, when we got to our room i noticed right away that is want a regular room but a wheel chair accessible room. I was good with that minus the shower, it felt a lil odd. We went downstairs to ask for another room. I told the girl my concerns and asked for a new room. Mind you i would have been okay with a double bed or being told they were booked but it doesn't hurt to ask. The girl immediately understood and went to the manager, Less then a minute later me response is "ah, I've been here forever and is embarrassing to say but i never knew , all rooms are like that"....... so your decision is to lie to me. To me that is worse then anything that could have happened and i won't ever be spending my hard earned money on this establishment again. I'm still so disappointed. read more

During a two weeks stay at aLoft, I have many good things to say about the hotel, and very few that are not so good. The location is very convenient, near Shops at Legacy and several corporate offices in Plano, and a short ride to downtown Dallas or the Fort Worth airport. The rooms are really good. After getting used to a very particular open concept bathroom and common space for clothes, security box, coffee machine, fridge and everything together, you actually have no problem having everything a little bit too close together. Even so, having an actual closet or separate space for non-bathroom aspects would be a nice to have. The service in general is really good, the staff is super friendly and proactive, the lobby and shared spaces are comfortable and nice. The bar is good and the mini market at the front is pretty complete for snacks or quick meals. Nice gym, nice open space with pool outside. Only con here would be the aisle to go to first floor rooms, which is completely freezing even without being in winter. It's a short but hard walk to your room. For the rest of it, totally recommended. And a HUGE PRO, at least from my point of view, it's a pet friendly hotel! Awesome! read more

Whoa. Someone said ikea went nuts on this place, they were right. Cool looking at first, noisy at night with paper thin walls. I was not on my own dime here, otherwise I might have felt I overpaid. The rooms were fairly small but adequate for one person, two might have actually been a bit crowded. Odd design and the lack of a fullsize ironing board make this a tough one for business travelers. Overall, it's probably on par with the options in the area. The morning breakfast options could use a lot of work, seeing as there isn't much within walking distance otherwise. read more

I am writing this review on the final night of our stay in Aloft Plano. It is a great hotel to bring dogs to, as they are super dog friendly, and we brought our 3 little dogs with us from Houston. We were in Dallas on a business trip, and heard that Aloft was a great hotel for the price. Pros: Decent food selection, excellent bar area, good room size, great shower, super dog friendly, majority of staff was very friendly. Cons: Would like the coffee to be out longer than 10AM. Also, the bartender on Friday night, a 30 something blonde bartender gave below average service for a W or Aloft hotel. Front Desk attendant told my wife that she couln't use the meeting room even though it was not in use by another person (around 11AM on Wednesday). Overall, I would stay in an Aloft hotel again. I have visited W Hotels in Seoul, Korea, Austin, Texas, Miami, Florida, Chicago, Illinois, Dallas, Texas, and a few other cities, and visited Aloft Hotels in many more. This hotel had the usual Aloft design and feel, which is great for couples in my wife and I's age group. The service, as I mentioned earlier was great. My favorite Aloft is the one in Austin, as well as the W Hotel there. I look forward to visting Aloft or W in a future city. read more

I stayed here on business last week. I was pleasantly surprised by the modernness. I was not expecting this type of atmosphere. I've never stayed in a place that had soap dispensers in the shower. ( I don't travel a lot) Great idea. The pool was nice, the workout room was great, the set up of the room was unique, the room was clean, loved the artwork. I really liked, although unnecessary and unexpected, how tidy housekeeping organized my makeup and other toiletries. If ever in Plano again, I would absolutely stay here. Beautiful Hotel - Spacious (Clean) Rooms - Comfy Beds - Accommodating Staff... I'm not sure I could have asked for more with as cheap as it was. This was my first stay with Aloft Hotels and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. I am a Starwood Preferred Guest and chose this hotel because of the points system that they offer - and the fact that they are VERY pet friendly. I booked this hotel for 2 nights which was approximately $200 + taxes. My husband and I both enjoyed the bed and the softness of the pillows, the rooms were large enough, and very clean. The hotel has a very up-to date modern and almost art deco feel - there was a bar in the lobby, pool table, and a "shop" that offered drinks and snacks. The hotel was very accommodating towards my husband and I as we were (extremely) late arrivals and late checkout. The only reason why I docked one star is because were traveling with a family member from Saudi Arabia and he also requested a late check out and the lady at the front desk allowed for him to also have a late checkout but acted as if it was a major inconvenience. I really like this place. It has a very Northern European flavor to it...Furnishings, service, decor...evident the moment I entered the lobby. As you read other reviews, recognize that this may not fit with many American's taste or expectations: the room was somewhat small and spartan by US standards. Yet the furnishings are highly functional, the room quiet, bed very comfortable, and the housekeeping impeccable. If you are a fan of IKEA furnishings, you will feel right at home. (Speaking of: there is an IKEA store nearby) Even the parking lot paving looks European. Pluses: -Clean, minimalist, European modern decor. -Lovely strong European Coffee in lobby. -Green: Vouchers if you forgo housekeeping, recycle bin in room, body wash & shampoo dispensers in shower. -wifi was fast enough to stream video without buffering...wonder if this is upgraded after review saying otherwise. -No wait for hot water. Minuses: -No microwave oven in room. -The 'fridge is a TE type, so no freezer compartment, but large internal volume. Almost cool enough, but at least you needn't worry about freezing your lettuce...but no frozen fruit for my smoothies. -if you want ice, it's in the lobby. It would be nice if there was something to tell me this so I didn't wander the halls in vain. Note that I consider these minor, and more so if you are not trying to eat kosher/halal/vegan/vegetarian. read more

Bar area and service was good. Bed was comfy enough. Room was clean. I prefer the faux wood floors compared to carpet most hotels have. More sanitary in my opinion. Walls were super thin. Heard every door opening, every conversation in hallway, even heard the room next door closing their window shades. Heard a tapping outside room but never descerned it to be our room. Moments later housekeeping let themselves in our room at 9:30am. We hadn't checked out and checkout time is Noon. This was a bit unacceptable but when they came back at 10 and did it again I had to tell her not to return until Noon. Given the noise and this issue I wouldn't recommend this hotel. read more

Aloft Plano is a cool hotel concept. The check-in was a simple process. As we walked in we noticed how guests were hanging out in the lobby. They looked like they were enjoying themselves. They have board games, a bar, and snack bar. The rooms were clean and chic. I don't know why Robert G. had so much to complain about. I liked the minimalist idea of a room hence the "loft" in the name of the hotel name. Personally, I had a great experience with Aloft Plano. read more

This was my first stay at an Aloft and I wasn't very impressed. It seems like the brand is trying to be hip and boutique, but really it is more Ikea-esqe. Though less functional and comfortable than Ikea. I noticed the floor in my room wasn't very clean and the wall had smudges on it. The mattress was thin and hard. My colleagues told me they didn't have hot water, but thankfully I didn't have to experience that. They didn't email me my folio as requested. Bar food wasn't that great, but I didn't expect it to be. The wine glass was smudgy, and didn't appear very clean. Next time, I'll pass on this property. read more

I wasn't there long. I checked in around 9pm and out the next morning. I was very unhappy with the hotel. Mostly because the trendy urban thing they are going for is not for me. It felt like sleeping in a converted warehouse. I was unlucky enough to end up with the first room on the first floor. I don't think they should have a room that close to a big heavy door that leads to the lobby. It was loud and all the concrete and bare floors made for a noisy evening. Also, I used the iron and it was old and dirty and the ironing board was pitiful. Bed was fine, tv was fine, no issues with my brief interaction with staff. read more

My fiancé and I always use Aloft we we travel. Most times we check in late the night shift aren't as welcoming, but TERRANCE has been the exception! He was warm and welcoming and when we mentioned we wanted a king and not a double he came all the way to deliver our new keys and personally escorted us to our room! The Aloft is a good place to stay if you want a place that's clean and modern but don't care too much about a comfortable bed or taking a shower without getting the floor OUTSIDE of the shower totally wet. Huh, you ask? This is something I just can't wrap my head around. The shower door is not sealed in any way around the frame. There is a gap on the sides and bottom of the shower door, so water gets out onto the floor, soaking your bath mat. I don't understand... who wants to step out of a shower onto a soaked towel? And it's not just a regular floor, it's tiled so there's water in between the tiles in the grout. I hate the bathroom floors at this hotel. I already don't like walking barefoot in any hotel room (because you just never know what people have done in there or if they had athlete's foot or something) but having this sort of tile makes it even worse. Ok... I'm starting to sound a bit neurotic now. Back to the wet floors. I had to use additional towels every time we took showers to soak up all the water on the floor. Even with pointing the shower head down and in towards the wall as far as it would go, and trying not to splash any water near the door, it got totally wet outside the shower. WTF?!?!?!?! Oh, and the drain inside the shower looks like you're in some public bathroom or something, not in a private hotel room shower. Just sayin... These beds are not comfy at all, and the pillows are even worse. We spent 3 nights here and I didn't get a single night of decent sleep. I woke up with a stiff neck and shoulders each morning. They don't have any sort of complimentary breakfast. They have an area downstairs in the lobby where you can get some drinks and snacks. Definitely not the place for a romantic getaway. More of business trip stay kind of place. Definitely not a place for me. read more
