Nail tech ripped me off. When I inquired about the price of a specific service, she lied about the price (I discovered it later). At the end of the service, I gave her bill asking for change so I could leave her a tip. When she returned, she gave me back 50% of what I gave her. My intention was to tip her 20%. I had a hard time writing this because I love how my hair turned out and the woman who did it did a great job and is very sweet. My issue is, the price! Another woman charged me not the woman who blow dried my hair. I have thick natural hair so I know that Dominican salons will try to up charge a bit for that. However...I'm from New York originally and I am VERY familiar with Dominican salons. I have over 20 years experience going to Dominican salons in the Dominican Republic and the Bronx. Almonte salon charged me $90 for a wash, deep conditioner, blow out and trim. This should've been about $60 max. I am 99.9% sure she just made up that price on the spot. I didn't have the energy to argue but the worst part had to be the "deep conditioner" it was a regular wash! Conditioner did not sit on my hair for any period of time. The worst feeling ever is feeling like you overpaid and that's exactly how I feel. I'll have to try a different salon next time. Getting a new person to do your hair is not an easy task but I guess luck was on my side today, I got there with a really bad hair color and this lady did the most amazing color and hairstyle that I had ever gotten on my hair, I'm beyond happy. She was really nice and made me feel super comfortable and help me with very good advices. And for sure the just won a new costumer. read more

My eldest was visiting from college about a month ago and wanted to get hair trimmed properly. We decided to go here, to Almonte Salon. The service is decent. The stylists are friendly and performance is on point but they are extremely pricey. It's very different than the affordable prices up north or at any other local Dominican salon for that matter. It's the type of place you can only go to once per year at best. So I did just that. I took 3 of my children with me to get our hair trimmed (cut off dead ends / even out hair), conditioner, wash and set with the expectation to pay about $100 for each of us but instead was charged $150 per head........I was VERY disappointed but it was the 1st time my children and I were doing something like this together and a chose to follow through for their sake. I couldn't afford to get my hair done though. It was $450 for my 3 kids and that doesn't include tip, which in a MUST in my culture to bless the actual stylist and she was great; she did all 3 of my kids hair. To say the least, I paid for the service but moreso for the memorable time that experience with my children created for me. I doubt I will return or refer anyone to this place. It's simply TOO EXPENSIVE for me and the people in my circle. I do wish Almonte Salon the best and hope they will consider becoming an affordable option for its community. read more

I came in on the spur of the moment. My hair was roller set but started to get hard and frizzy. Mery took one look and washed and conditioned my hair and then Rosanna did the blowout. I told her I wanted my hair like hers, nice and full with soft curls, she did exactly that. Hair was beautiful. Silky, shiny, soft and flowing. Then Mery did my eyebrows. Amazing job. They've never looked so good!!! All in less than an hour and half. Great job. I have been keeping my hair braided but I will definitely be back for my in-betweens!!!!! I was scheduled for a 10AM appointment on Christmas Eve and after awaiting 15 minutes I left due to no one arrived to the shop. This was a very poor experience and I was greatly disappointed. This is the place for a great mani/pedi - Hair blowout/ cut - eyebrow / waxing place in Charlotte. After visiting some very subpar salons in the area I visited Almonte Salon & Spa last week for a pedicure and gel manicure. Sarita took me to do my eyebrows & then gave me one of the best pedicures of my life and I'm not joking. Recently moved here from New York so I really needed a place to make my regular nail spot. Had a terrific experience to say the least! She took out so many cuticles from my toes I couldn't believe it because I had gotten a pedicure twice before visiting so she got really deep&down in there and cleaned my toes like never before and then scrubbed my calluses with out me even asking with this Dominican scrubber thing that shaved off my heels like you'd want it to be done. Let me tell you my feet were looking RIGHT for my Birthday!! Rosana gave me layers and a blowout and I couldn't tell you how beautiful I felt that day, they treat you so nice, it's right across from Starbucks so I was a little early and got a coffee prior to my appointment. Very friendly, experienced staff. The salon/spa has a very relaxing atmosphere. Prices very comparable to others. Meri the owner was so welcoming and the music in the place was on point. Unfortunately, my hairline has been falling out to the point that I have to use Rogaine to make my hair grow again. I went to Alomonte to have my hair shampooed, conditioned, trimmed and styled; and felt okay with doing so based on the Yelp reviews that the salon offered good service. Upon entering the salon, I described what was going on with my hairline and that it needed to be cut so that it would grow back full and healthy. The shampoo was the worst I've ever had and the water used was too hot but was adjusted to a pleasant temperature. The deep conditioner did not sit long enough, even though I was the only patron in the salon for hair service. Although Alomonte is a Dominican type salon which are known to use excessive heat at high settings, there is a method to use so that the patrons scalp does not feel as if it is burning. When it was time to trim my hair, I went over with the stylist exactly what I wanted done. While she did cut my hairline down, it was not blended well and I pointed that out. The stylist attempted to blend it but did not succeed. Then I showed her a picture of how to style my hair which was very loose corkscrew-shaped curls. Instead of giving me that style, she took it upon herself to give me what she wanted which did not make me happy. In response to my disappointment, she said my hair was too short for the style which it was not, she just does not know how to style. If she did not believe she could style my hair like I wanted, she should have say so. Overall, my hair is clean and I have a much needed trim but the rest of the service was subpar. The first time I went to this salon they charged me $90. I went with my hair already washed, they did my rollers, blew dry my hair and put clip in extensions. I thought that was great price and it made sense because it was just clip ins so its not that big of a deal and I only had 3 lines plus the 2 little ones in the front. So few days ago I scheduled an appointment she is explaining to me how much she's is going to charge me and I tell her I was there before I am doing the exact same thing the ONLY difference is that I need the hair extension washed, then I asked her how much is she going to charge me ? she said $30 but I said ok w.e ill do it! it will be $90 plus the $30. When I was seating down the other girl was doing my hair while she straighten the clip ins she makes a remark on how she is going to charge me more (i think to myself she is joking) and i replied you are going to charge exactly what it is which is the $90 you charged me last time plus the wash and she laughed. When the girl finished doing my hair I go to the counter to pay and I said how much is it? She asked the person (rOxanne) that did my hair how many clips in it was in my hair and she replied only 4 she said no, she had more and Roxanne insisted and she went to her started whispering and came back and said $180. I was in shock!!!!!!!! I was like but what did you charged me for? and she replied you had more clips in and said butttttt... Then I lo0oked at her like asking her; are you serious right now? and she said that's what it is. I stood quiet for a little staring at her then I thought to myself "dont argue with someone that wants to take advantage of you and just leave them a review which hurts more than any money can" as I am a business owner. You know what the saddest part is about all this that she is the owner and if she acts like that with me I can only imagine what she is doing to others. I will never never and let me tell you I've been looking for a Dominican hair salon in charlotte for over 2 years and I thought I was going to stay with them but I will never step foot in the hair place again. I just moved here from out of state and I was looking for a place to get a nice Dominican style blow out. I found Almonte salon on Yelp, and they had pretty good reviews so I decided to try it out. I called 1st, because the lady told me to call prior to coming on Fridays because they may be packed. She told me I could come right in. I was taken immediately. I was in and out!! Fast service and efficient!! I got a blow out with a deep condition and trim and everything was $70 total. It was a little bit more pricey than I am used to paying in New Jersey, where I am originally from, but you have to pay for quality. The salon was also very clean and upscale and the lady who did my hair offered me a beverage, I've never had that happen before so that was a very nice touch. I'm a little torn leaving this review. The salon was very nice and clean! The people were amazing! My only issue was the price. I had my hair colored and blown out and it was $125!!! I find that VERY VERY steep. Granted they did do a great job and it was very quick but I just still can't get over that price tag. Finding a Dominican Salon in Charlotte is hard, but I strongly advise against this salon. I decided to try out this salon since it had pretty good ratings. Where should I start? I wanted my hair lighten and dyed, I explained to the hair dresser what color I was after which was a goldish blonde, instead she went with what she thought would be best now my hair is an orange brown. My dye has only been done for two weeks now, and already my roots are showing indicating she didn't know what she was doing with the dye. Second I asked for a lite trim, just to cut the dead ends. Once again she went with what she thought was best. As she continued to keep cutting my hair, I even said a few times stop that's too much. She responded with no no this is what's best, I have to. Third, I was asked to come in early so she would have enough time. I told them on the phone and twice in the store before they started I wanted a wash and blow out. As she finally started rinsing out the dye, her friend walked in and she promised her that she would have enough time to do her hair. Once the rinsing was done she put me in her chair and put in a little bit of product and said ok you're done as I had a full soaking wet head. I said no I want my hair blown and straighten. So she started to rush in order to have enough time for her friend. So as she continued to speed with the straighter she burned my ear and my forehead. Thanks to this salon, I now have short orange brown hair with two scars. One scar on my ear and one scar on my forehand. Never again will I try this salon! read more

I was overcharged for the service I received. I only got color on my roots, special conditioner ($15), a blow-out and they charged me $90. The beautician tried to tell me that if I only colored the roots I would have 3 different colors in which I told her that was fine as I only wanted my roots colored. I didn't think about the price until after I left the salon but for root color, special conditioner and a blow-out, it should not have cost $90 so it appears they charged me for full color anyway.
