There's also way more space to sit than any of those markets, and even if you can't find a spot in the market place you are seconds away from the riverfront which is also all re-done and fancy. Also remember you are close by the Coronation Stone, upon which 7 kings were crowned in the 900s! Yeah...I love Kingston. And I know a disturbing amount of obscure historical facts about it.

Neighbourhood allotment growers were on hand to inform, inspire and offer tastes of their freshly-picked produce. I spent a happy time exploring (and sniffing-out) the wonderful fresh herb stall, with myriad varieties (rare and mainstream) for cooking and medicinal purposes. The chocolate mint and lemon balm were especially fragrant I left with some wonderful oregano, and a pretty chilli plant, to enhance my autumn dishes and add to my herb garden repertoire.

I don't know how many claims they've had to deal with for customer injuries or illness. Have observed that when customers raise issues with staff about products not up to quality staff look scared rather than empowered to do the right thing. Timidly they call management over who never seem to deal with the issue, it's always the customers fault somehow, do visit the store and you will see for yourself.

I had a delicious Buckwheat gallette (a kind of crepe) with spinach, French brie & cranberry sauce while enjoying the sunshine. Everything was prepared from scratch, so I had to wait patiently. Other stalls were offering fresh coffee, Ethiopian, Indian, North African and middle eastern foods...plus a gluten-free cake stall.
