Usually pretty reliable but yesterday for lunch everything we ordered seemed bathed in sugar. My…read moreguess is that they are using a generic makhani-style sauce (cream, butter, tomato, sugar) and folding in ingredients unique to each dish (eg eggplant for baingan Barta, chiles for chile balti, greens for palak). It was all very uniform, little variation, and the sweetness overpowered the flavor of the spices. It was still spicy hot, but with no depth, only sweetness. This was a Tuesday afternoon order and chefs may differ.

They put a lot of effort into main the place feel complete, and it'd a comfortable place to eat. Had a taste for good Indian and Taj India does not disappoints. Had a taste for Chicken Tikka. But…read morea decided to go with the recommendation of the waiter, something that has backfired on me before. He said the Taj Special Curry was his favorite. Boy was he right. This curry is delicious. Had it with rice; basmati of course. Very well done. Fragrant. Ordered a side of the basic naan. Fresh so it's definitely done on premises. The portion was fairly large and I had a hard time stopping to eat. I could have licked my plate. This is a very simple, humble restaurant. Nothing fancy. Clean. You have to order at the counter and they will bring it to your table. Prices are reasonable. My dish could have easily fed two. If you have never tried Indian food, this is a good place to start. More, you should give this guys a try. Indian cooking is one of the great seminal foods of the world. They had spices when the Roman's had only salt. Their flavors are old, robust, defined and Taj gets it simple and right. I will be back.

Think of the nastiest parts you cut off a steak before you eat it and that is what was in the pho. Two of us had the beef pho and the meat was the same in both dishes. It looked so bad my wife couldn't finish her own food after seeing the meat from my dish. The vegetable drunken noodles were good and the pad cashew was also good. Leaving 1 star because I can't believe a cook could send out two dishes with essentially the throw away pieces of meat in them.

The service was amazing with us being checked in immediately and seated, and our server was attentive the entire time. The food is the real star of the show though. The Eggplant Delight was incredible--easily my favorite, just wish the portion was bigger. Chicken satay and Massaman curry were also solid. * The Downsides: The sesame balls were slightly burnt, and they forgot my sticky rice corn. The pad see ew was just okay for me. * Packaging: Arrived in a nice bag, but I really wish it had been sealed. I'd still order again to try other dishes next time!
