Very comfortable room with soft down pillows I wish I could take home. They provide a Samsung cell phone in each room rather than a regular land line which you can take with you during the day. The phone allows for free phone calls, both local and international. Everything from the lights, to climate control, to curtains are controlled via a touch screen controller at both side of the bed. The curtains automatically open each time the door is opened. The walls are rather thin though, and I often heard my neighbors freely passing gas.
The mini fridge in the room comes stocked with not only water, but soda and juices which are complimentary. The towels are plush and so are the bath robes and slippers provided in the room. The toiletries are in full sized bottles and pleasantly scented.
Breakfast is complimentary at the ground floor restaurant, which is pretty good. There are complimentary menu items made to order, including traditional breakfast items like pancakes, eggs, omelettes, sausage and bacon, and there are menu items with an additional fee (as noted) if you'd like something more. The servers are so polite and accommodating, and toward the end of my visit, were starting to recognize me.
The hotel is located in a very walkable part of town, with shopping and some tourist destinations nearby, the closest being Gaudí's Casa Batlló (an eight minute walk away). The closest hop on and off bus stop to the hotel is located in front of Casa Batlló.
The hotel itself is very clean, probably because housekeeping is constantly working. They come in the morning (as expected), but then sometimes at 3pm, and even 9pm as well. I don't know if my Do Not Disturb light was not working or if they were choosing to ignore it, but regardless of its status, they'd be ringing my bell and stumbling in, surprised a couple of times a day.
All things said, the service and amenities are wonderful here. When I arrived at my supposed five star hotel room at the next destination city on my trip, I immediately longed to be back at Almanac. read more
