    Chicken fried steak Benedict
    Carolina H.

Drove by Trinidad this weekend and stopped at Almacks Kitchen for brunch! What a cute place and a cute town! Very big open space with big tables and fun decor. Staff members were very friendly and helpful with the menu. I ordered the chicken fried steak Benedict as it was one of their specials. Let me just say...it did not disappoint!! The chicken was perfectly cooked, crunchy and tasty! The gravy was delicious, every bite was giving a cozy feeling. 10/10 They also have a small thrift shop attached to it. It was pretty cool! Definitely stop by if you are in the area!

The green chile scramble and Cajun hash were excellent choices for a mid-morning meal. The place was bustling, but the service was excellent. The space was simple but functional. Easy parking is available outside, and it's a must-stop if you are heading through Trinidad or staying there.

Bhan Mi with side of green chile. Great flavor - just wis had more of the pork.

Thankfully opened on New Year's Day! Service tad slow but we acclimated to the Colorado vibe. Food was really good. Had the Cajun hash and the bhan mi which was awesome.

Conveniently located downtown but still just off the highway, this cafe was perfect for a quick lunch on our drive to Santa Fe. Service was friendly, the atmosphere pleasant, and the food yummy with very generous portions. Glad we stopped there!

BLT, bacon pancakes, amazing fruit side with fresh mango!

This was a great stop on our way home to Colorado Springs. The bacon pancakes were amazing but the stand out was the Sracha honey BLT. It is clear that someone in the kitchen cares a lot about putting out high quality fresh food. The side of fruit had fresh mango! Highly recommend.

We went for brunch and the selection and food was amazing, as was our server! Highly recommend this place if visiting Trinidad.

The BEST breakfast, at the start of my road trip! Clean, with a lovely smiling young hostess and lots of seating. I enjoyed a tasty fresh-brewed decaf, and the plentiful Cajun Hash; potatoes, bacon, green onions, cheese, eggs (sunny-side-up), substituting fruit for toast. A side of grits I added, substituting butter for cheese, and these did not disappoint. Right off the highway on a minor "main" street with plenty of parking. Interior is simple/spacious with high ceiling. Within the building next to the dining area is a curio shop with wonderful clothing and accessories, and also a skate shop (I regret not taking more photos). This was a treat for-sure. Recommend.

Stopped by as we were driving to New Mexico and had a surprisingly great lunch ! Fried chicken & grits was perfection, one of the best Cubano sandwiches ever. Kids devoured tacos and blueberry buttermilk pancakes. Server was friendly even though she was managing while place solo in late afternoon. We also found a couple cool things at the thrift shop in here. Restroom was clean, parking was easy.

We went in on a Saturday around 11am and were seated right away. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful in helping us find what would work for my husband's gluten free diet. We ended up with some winners! The Cubano Sandwich was super flavorful and the cauliflower was out of this world delicious! My husband had the rice bowl and he loved his meal as well. We definitely recommend coming to this place if you're looking for a laid back breakfast or brunch.

A total surprise in Trinidad which I always wanted to visit. Been through on the Amtrak many times…read morePretty large mountain town with a lot to do and an art scene and what pops up is the Italian deli! Been around about 30 years and from what I learned Trinidad and surrounding farms have a good sized Italian population. Not surprised. Had a nice conversation with the owner and her daughter about their Chicago relatives they barely know snd those I know with the same surname Monteleone. As for the good it was good. I'm spoiled and used to neighborhood homemade and other specialities in Chicago so I'm picky but I have to say the special SW Hatch Chili Italian sausage patty sandwich was right on time and pretty large. It's a nice take on their SW New Mexico heritage. Their owner was nice to. A sweeter but spicy sauce. A great contrast. They have all the standard neighborhood imported specialties for sale. Saw a few return tourists drop in while bead there. On a side note, if you're in Trinidad looking fir breakfast you best get in any place that might be open before 11am or you got nothing coming. These folks stop the eggs and bacon on the dot! I missed out at three places before I fortunately made it into Monteleone's deli for a bite. I'm still stuffed at 830 pm. I will be in Trinidad again and will stop in.

Good selection for such a small town…read more This deli has a lot of the items you may not see in a bigger city deli. It is full of locally produced meats and cheeses that you would find in specialty stores. I purchased some of the spicy peperoni and mixed olives. Sandwiches are good too. Unfortunately, the fresh goat cheese was not in season, but they have quite the selection. A bit pricy, however, this is a small operation and they different economies of scale than the big players. When in town, I will always buy my deli products here.

And SLU.... don't even get me started. Plenty of Netflix documentaries about people there. Whistle Stop is actually a pretty decent sandwich shop that doesn't rape you like Subway. Last time I ate at SW it was like, $20 for a sandwich and a drink. Should have just went to a sit down for the at much. At Whistle Stop, my meal hits around $12. Never had a problem with the amount of meat on the sandwich. Veggies are all fresh and not "over ripe". Sandwich Artists have all been friendly and offer home town suggestions. And what is Wichita talking about, "man with an accent"?!? Are you racist or something? What a asinine thing to say about someone else.

I guess with the sandwich shop it is not a corporate store must be a franchise owned by some Saudi or business man from Pueblo.
