When walking through Trinidad this cafe should be your place to stop for coffee, breakfast or lunch. We came in between the two so I ordered a lunch and my wife the breakfast. The Colorado St Chicken Salad was a foodgasm. Chicken salad with nuts and fruit on a croissant with a salad really nailed my need. The egg puff my wife ordered was so good she swore she would learn to make these at home. Combined with a friendly staff and a rustic shop floor made for a great experience.

We had the Miner, The Baca and a special sandwich with smoked ham, smoked Gouda and blackberry jam. All sandwiches were delicious! Service was wonderful and quick, even though there was only one girl working. If you are driving though, skip the fast food and come for a salad or sandwich!

Still amazing and delicious and reasonable! And what a pleasant surprise to have knowledgeable, polite folks working on the 4th of July to serve up gourmet fare extremely quickly and with a smile....swing on by if you're checking out Trinidad or on your way somewhere else!

Family-owned spot that feels like home. Fast friendly service matched with great sandwiches. Love the fact that they came with a side salad. This is the perfect place to stop halfway between Denver and Albuquerque.

Having made many a trip through Trinidad, I finally stopped into town for some food (instead of typical gas-n-go approach). The Café is an excellent option for a "real meal" when you're driving through town. Order at the counter for a handful of fresh salads, made-to-order sandwiches and paninis, as well as a full espresso menu and chilled beverages. Food is out quickly, they can package to-go, or grab a table and enjoy your food in-house. Definitely worth a stop if you're in town, or like me, just driving through!

I came to The Cafe on a whim. Let me tell you I was overwhelmed with how good this joint is. Me and my partner each got #2 The Baca house and #3 The Mediterranean open faced sandwich. Both meals came with side salads and they were delicious. Both sandwiches were very good, especially the bread which tasted as if it was baked recently. After the sandwiches we had a blueberry muffin and lattes, both delectable and I found myself savoring every last bit. Will def come back again. P.s. we scarfed down our food and forgot to take pictures.

The food was good nothing special but the lady working there was a little hotheaded and snappy to us and her coworker.

Monteleone Deli - Specialty foods

Monteleone Deli

A total surprise in Trinidad which I always wanted to visit. Been through on the Amtrak many times…read morePretty large mountain town with a lot to do and an art scene and what pops up is the Italian deli! Been around about 30 years and from what I learned Trinidad and surrounding farms have a good sized Italian population. Not surprised. Had a nice conversation with the owner and her daughter about their Chicago relatives they barely know snd those I know with the same surname Monteleone. As for the good it was good. I'm spoiled and used to neighborhood homemade and other specialities in Chicago so I'm picky but I have to say the special SW Hatch Chili Italian sausage patty sandwich was right on time and pretty large. It's a nice take on their SW New Mexico heritage. Their owner was nice to. A sweeter but spicy sauce. A great contrast. They have all the standard neighborhood imported specialties for sale. Saw a few return tourists drop in while bead there. On a side note, if you're in Trinidad looking fir breakfast you best get in any place that might be open before 11am or you got nothing coming. These folks stop the eggs and bacon on the dot! I missed out at three places before I fortunately made it into Monteleone's deli for a bite. I'm still stuffed at 830 pm. I will be in Trinidad again and will stop in.

Good selection for such a small town…read more This deli has a lot of the items you may not see in a bigger city deli. It is full of locally produced meats and cheeses that you would find in specialty stores. I purchased some of the spicy peperoni and mixed olives. Sandwiches are good too. Unfortunately, the fresh goat cheese was not in season, but they have quite the selection. A bit pricy, however, this is a small operation and they different economies of scale than the big players. When in town, I will always buy my deli products here.

Been here several times. The out of towners that are blasting it and small town life can just move…read moreon. Before you whine and cry, I lived in Wichita for most of my life. And SLU.... don't even get me started. Plenty of Netflix documentaries about people there. Whistle Stop is actually a pretty decent sandwich shop that doesn't rape you like Subway. Last time I ate at SW it was like, $20 for a sandwich and a drink. Should have just went to a sit down for the at much. At Whistle Stop, my meal hits around $12. Never had a problem with the amount of meat on the sandwich. Veggies are all fresh and not "over ripe". Sandwich Artists have all been friendly and offer home town suggestions. And what is Wichita talking about, "man with an accent"?!? Are you racist or something? What a asinine thing to say about someone else.

I would encourage everyone to steer clear of this place. I am local and most local people don't go…read morethere. My first experience was a cashier on the phone talking about if I heard her right she said the pump was spitting. I got my ice and left. second was I encountered some elderly gentleman hanging around. with nothing to do. I loved his accent must of been a foreign person. there is tables but it's a gas station with no room aisles of gas station crap. this place is garbage if you like the place you can have it. I guess with the sandwich shop it is not a corporate store must be a franchise owned by some Saudi or business man from Pueblo.
