LIVunLtd connected us with Andrew Shogan, VP, Spotless Services, to discuss the scope of the work while [Liv] handled all of the administrative paperwork for our building's management team. Andrew's responses were friendly and prompt -- even on a Sunday -- and he scheduled his handyman, Derrick, to perform the requested tasks within several days of our introduction. Derrick was punctual (he buzzed our apartment at 10:01am for our 10:00am appointment), was thoughtful in his work (he offered excellent suggestions when I was undecided about the placement of certain items), troubleshot issues (like when we discovered that The Container Store -- or I -- had calculated the wrong length for the Elfa Easy Hang Standards), and maintained a genuinely friendly demeanor over the course of 7 solid hours of work (despite working straight through lunch). He took his time with meticulous tasks, but I never once got the sense that he was lingering. There were no hidden fees (e.g., commuting time, lunch hour; though I did offer to order in and was politely declined), and every task was completed beautifully. Thank you!

I had Al repair some water damage and regrout some tile in the bath, as well as fix some minor issues around the apartment. The quote came in a little higher than I expected, but I also knew that I could rely on his quote and the quality of his work. Indeed, Al and his crew came through. I'm not sure how they managed to match paints and grouts so readily. Some areas where I expected just a simple patch up job that would leave evidence of repair actually came out looking like new. He and his crew were also creative in solving some problems with very finicky cabinet doors. I've had very mixed experiences in Brooklyn with contractors. I'm very happy to say working with Al is one of the best experiences I've had. He's not going to be the cheapest out there, but he's going to stand by his quote and get everything done to very high standards.

They didn't trowel thinset. Grout lines are below standard width. Now I have to sue him to get money back for a redo.

Got a call back very quickly saying they were on their way and would arrive in about an hour. Anthony arrived with another gentleman, Dom, on time and they patiently listened while I explained what was going on and what I tried. Anthony told me they'd first try to snake the drain and if that didn't work, there was another procedure with a water jet. I appreciated him being upfront about the fact that the first thing they would try may not work in order to set expectations. Decided to go with the snaking and Anthony let me know the price and proceeded to do the work. They were very thorough, spending about an hour working on it and testing it. By the end of the snaking, everything was working without an issue! Throughout the work, Anthony and Dom were extremely pleasant. They took extra care to ask if it was okay to move things onto the counter or if I wanted any extra protection on the floor. The great work, attention to detail, and general pleasantness mean I'll be calling Downtown Plumbing anytime I need a plumber.

I'm highly allergic and could never breathe well when visiting. One night after a huge storm we came back to her apartment to find white patches on damp areas of the carpet. My mom, who is not allergic, started gasping for air and we wore masks trying to clean it up as best we could. I felt it was too dangerous for her to stay there without having an evaluation. Owen replied quickly via text for all the information and was there the next day. He did a very thorough inspection, informing my mom of different parts of the apartment to keep an eye on, especially the door frame leading out to the patio and a ceiling crack. In under two days we had a full report and no surprise, mold was all under the rug and in the walls. Using this report we were able to break the lease and get her out of there ASAP. Thank you very much to Owen for coming by so quickly and taking time to really check all the areas. It was a huge health concern and now we have peace of mind.
