What meant the most was how he took his time on the phone with me. With his suggestions our baby's fever went down that same day. We feel very lucky he accepted us into his family's practice. She denied a refill on a vital prescription for my son while he's away in college on the other side of the country saying he had to come in for a check up. He was just in 6 months ago. They refused a telehealth visit and then when I called 3 times to ask the doctor to speak to me, I received no call back, no message, no care. He had to scramble and find a new doctor so he could get his medication. Sadly, no follow through and a collapse of the medical system and therefore, our whole family is no longer going there.

This place is absolute garbage and I wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a primary "care"…read moredoctor. I had an appointment scheduled today as a first time patient. However, I had an emergency and called 15 mins beforehand to let them know I wouldn't be able to make it. Immediately the office receptionist rudely says "Ok you need to find a new primary care doctor because we have a 24 hour notice cancellation policy." ..and goes on about how they send out notification reminders prior to the appointment (I never received an appointment reminder by the way, but I didn't bother arguing this point). I asked If I could be given a little grace since this would be my first visit. She says she'd speak with the doctor and call me back. She calls me back and says "You need to be assigned to a new primary doctor because when you make an appointment, the doctor carves out the time for you..Ok." I'd also like to point out that up until this point, I had not filled out any paperwork or signed an agreement to abide by any 24hr cancellation policy yet. So how can you enforce a policy I have not yet signed? Mind you, I went into the office the previous week to facilitate the process of HEAL medical clinic as my new PCP. The only records I gave to the receptionist at that time was my ID, Insurance card, and proof of vaccinations. I had not yet signed and given HEAL medical clinic my agreement to abide by this cancellation policy. She printed out the first time patient paperwork for me to fill out and bring back on my first visit, which was today. I had filled out some of the paperwork, but hadn't finished and was going to finish the rest of it in office. I didn't get a chance to read and sign the rest of the paperwork, which included the office policy stating they had a 24hr notice cancellation policy. After I was told I'd have to find a new PCP, I finished reading the paperwork, and it does indeed state they have a 24hr cancellation policy, HOWEVER, it also says that missed or late cancelled appointments would result in a $35 late cancellation fee, which I offered to pay instead of having to withdrawal as a patient. She rudely said "NO", and I hung up. The front desk receptionist was cold and rude. She never asked me what the emergency was or why I needed to cancel (to see if it was justifiable). We are human and emergencies do happen! This place clearly offers no grace when emergencies happen, for first time clients, or a warning. They rather lose a client, money, and lose their respect and reputation for their business than to allow me to pay a $35 cancellation fee, and reschedule my appointment. Now I have to wait a month before I am able to transfer to a new primary care physician. Deplorable business practices! DO NOT RECOMMEND.

After moving to San Diego and visiting other doctors in my area I made the decision to continue to drive an hour for my appointments. He not just a great doctor but is lovely to speak with at every appointment. After every apt he reminds me that he is here for me 24 hours a day with his call service. It's rare to find a doctor that combines kind personal touches and care for a patient as a person with outstanding quality of medical care. I also want to mention that Lisa and his office staff are some of the most accommodating staff I have worked with. There has been numerous times that they have move things around to make sure they got me in at a timely manner. I have no qualms recommending him and his office to family, friends or anyone who is looking for a new primary doctor.
