Dr. O'connor is great. Her staff was able to squeeze me in when I found a lump in my neck postpartum. Her staff is kind, responsive, and made me truly feel like they cared. They were able to electronically send over prescriptions and called me back right away with any questions or appointment adjustments. Dr. O'Connor is a very educated doctor. She knows endocrinology well and was able to answer every single question I had. (I had a lot as my thyroid dysfunction was something new to me.) She took her time during my examinations and explained everything going on step by step during the ultrasounds. I have seen her multiple times over the past year and couldn't be more happy with any other doctor and their staff. read more

I really like the doctor and have always found her to be very professional. Unfortunately, my experience with the staff has been much different. They do not seem to be very organized or approachable, and there was a miscommunication with the staff that became very frustrating. I found myself having to repeatedly explain my situation to multiple members of the staff, yet it still seemed like they did not fully understand what I was trying to communicate. I would expect that when calling a patient, the staff would have a general understanding of the patient's situation by reviewing their chart beforehand. I also had to explain the situation again to another staff member, including the fact that the medical assistant's manner of communication came across as unprofessional. Unfortunately, the front office receptionist also responded in a way that felt defensive rather than focused on resolving the issue. I understand that miscommunications happen, but the way this situation was handled made an already frustrating experience even more difficult. The staff would benefit from additional training in communication, professionalism, organization, and patient customer service. Patients should feel heard, respected, and supported when communicating with the office. I would continue to recommend the doctor based on my experience with her, but I hope the office will take this feedback seriously and work on improving the overall patient experience. read more

I had an appointment set for 1:30. I arrived a little early and filled out the typical sheets of paper, most of which are superfluous. As I arrived, a gentleman stepped out of the back of the office claiming he'd been there over an hour and hadn't been seen. I didn't pay much attention until I'd sat in the waiting room over 45 minutes, finally asking status and saying they're 45 minutes past my appointment time. The desk lady (think Monique?) was extremely curt and said she had no clue. I pressed asking her to check with a nurse in the back to give me some idea, but was told she wouldn't do that and it could be a while still. After pressing a few more times she finally admitted the doctor was in with a patient and still had another new patient to see before me...so it could still be an hour. An hour...after being already 45 minutes late? I asked if she had my phone number, she said yes, so I said I'd go run an errand or two and text me when they're getting close. She claimed she could not text, to which I replied you're welcome to call me or send an email. Desk lady was having none of it and told me she's "not going to do that". I tried reasoning with her saying it's extremely unprofessional to be that far behind and to not give other appointment patients a heads up, using analogies of dinner and flight reservations. She couldn't be bothered. I told her to refund my money and I'd go elsewhere. I'm sorry...but as a retiree who built a professional career on setting proper expectations, communicating effectively, negotiating efficiently, etc, this was unacceptable! As that was the "level of service" they were willing to offer, I highly recommend people take their medical business to an office that does care about the client experience. read more

Itś true that most of the time you have to wait to see her, but thatś because she doesn´t rush her appointments like other Drs do. She´s very knowledgeable and witty.... I love her for that! Ya it's sad. Dr O Conor is brilliant and most of the time very professional and knowledgeable, but the staff is abusive. I have to see an endocrinologist so often and don't want to drive far, but because I couldnt take it anymore, I left Dr O Connor. Dr. O'Connor was my endocrinologist back when we both were in HMOs, but then due to their regulations, I had to return to my GP for them to manage my endo health. I never felt that same after I had my thyroid eradicated and was on life-long meds. They only treated my labs and didn't bother to hear from me, the patient. After a while I transitioned to a PPO, which empowered me to choose my own specialists. I had developed Epstein Barr, a fatigue syndrome, and was told to amp up vit. B. I returned to Dr. O'Connor and based on her expertise, she tinkered with my meds until I said I felt better, and she monitors any potential side effects. She's been helpful with my transition into menopause, taking lead in treating it while my OBGYN didn't really address any of my symptoms. I highly recommend her, and I've dealt with the same front office personal for all the years I have been a patient, which bodes well for a medical office, in that some have difficulty retaining staff. read more

I'd like to start with I have only had 2 online video appointments with Dr. O'Conner. Each time she has been to the point, kind and professional. The reason for the 1 star is her office staff Monique is beyond unprofessional. I will more than likely find a new endocrinologist, just because she is so rude when she calls or I call them. I have now had about 5 separate interactions with this staff member and only one time has she been nice. When she called me today to state that the lab could not get proper results from the test I took over 2 weeks ago, she wanted me to find out the fax# for the lab, wanted me to go back to the lab without a lab order and then proceeded to become completely annoyed at the fact that I don't store Westpac labs fax number with me at all times and that I refuse to use Quest as my preferred lab. I have 4 doctors I see on a continual basis and I have to have labs performed every 2 months and have had several issues with Quest over the last 15 years so I refuse to give them my business. I asked her when the lab tech called why didn't she get the fax# from the lab when they called? I explained that I followed the instructions that the lab gave me which were given by the doctor. Why wasn't the lab tech and the doctor discussing how to perform the test instead of me trying to figure it out on my own. Instead she became irritated that I said its not my job to figure out how the test is to be performed and anyone knows you cant just show up at any lab without a lab request. I took the test as directed and why did it take so long for the results, especially when the appointment was yesterday and the doctor never mentioned that the lab results did not come in. I specifically rescheduled the appointment so that they would have the lab results and she knew that. I have a extremely hectic schedule and multiple diseases that I manage, along with two small children I homeschool as well as a full time job and the last thing I need on my list is another rude, unkind human calling me to do her job. I deal with a ton of doctors staff for not only my health but my children's ongoing health issues and if every staff member talked to me the way she does I would seriously think the entire medical community needs to be trained on how to handle on going patients. This is a very trying time for many parents and people with health conditions. All she needed to do was call me back and say I have faxed a new order to the lab and unfortunately you will have to go back for the third time for the test. The doctor has given clear directions on how to perform the test. That's it. Instead because I called her out on her unprofessionalism she hung up on me and now I don't know if anything was completed or not. Now I will be forced to call her again to ask if she did her job. Instead she could be thankful she still has a job and patients that help pay for that job. Doctors work very hard at keeping patients and patient care is a huge part of building a private practice. There is no excuse for her behavior and when a patient requests their lab results it takes little to no effort to print them and place them in the mail, instead of referring them back to the lab. All my other doctors either email or mail me my lab results immediately after the appointment, this office should be no different. There's no excuse for this behavior. Most patients are living in some degree of pain or discomfort and because I suffer from constant chronic pain it just frustrates me that staff cannot find it within themselves to be kind. We all have things going on, we all have busy lives and I'm just over people acting this way. read more

I really wanted to come on here and update my review of Dr. O'Connor. She's got a dry sense of humor that isn't for everyone and she is blunt. She's very smart and knows what she's doing and she expects you to listen. She will also help you with many health concerns, not just your thyroid. She reversed a thyroid condition that I was told by a different doctor couldn't be reversed. She was positive on the prognosis. She was thorough with the treatment plan. Been coming here for years. Office wait is an issue so i plan to wait up to an hour in office. But when I do get in to speak with the doctor it's not rushed, she always answers my questions and we did a lot of bloodwork and other things to identify the root cause of the issue I was facing. Dr. O'Connor is wonderful. I have been looking for a good endocrinologist for years and then I saw Dr. O'Connor on a local advertorial on t.v. I don't usually find doctors via television, however something felt like I should give her a shot. I called and made an appointment and they got me in within a week. She was FANTASTIC! Dr. O'Connor was very easy to talk to and is a straight shooter, none of the typical doctor attitude or stuffiness. She took her time and answered all of the questions none of my other doctors would slow down enough to explain. I would definitely recommend Dr. O'Connor to a friend. I have seen Dr. O'Connor multiple times over the past 14 years. She was the first doctor to pin point the cause of a list of ailments I had, diagnosing me with Insulin Resistance. Not only was she knowledgeable but she also sat with me and taught me about nutrition and the proper diet that, along with my medication, could reverse my disorder and prevent it from escalating into Diabetes. As someone who has experienced MANY specialists over the last 25 years, I can't speak highly enough of Dr. O'Connor's abilities; it is rare to find someone so knowledgable and enthusiastic. My husband's medical issues have left other doctors stumped and worn out, but from the moment we had our first consultation with Dr. O'Connor 2.5 years ago, I knew she was brilliant and unique. Some patients may not pick up on the nuances of her language and misread what she says as condescension. But honestly, she just has a unique way of interacting with patients. She doesn't dumb down her explanations or say something just because she thinks it's what you want to hear. She's there to tackle extremely complex medical issues and possesses laser-like focus. I personally appreciate her approach. While I experienced her front office staff as being marginally professional, I tolerated them for the sake of having an endocrinologist close to my home and who was also knowledgeable in her field. Similar to other patients here, I started off thinking Dr. O'Connor was fabulous. One of the few dr's that would prescribe a T3/T4 combo following RAI to get me back on track, I decided the rude front desk staff and obnoxiously long wait times for every apt. were just the price I had to pay. But over the years, especially when I started having issues with my meds, I began to see Dr O'Connor's lack of respect for her patient's time and lack of bedside manner for what it was - rude, condescending behavior from a dr. with a major superiority complex. She wasn't listening to me as a patient rather dictating to me how it should be, while belittling me all the while. I do believe Dr O'Connor has book smarts but her interpersonal skills and blatant disrespect leave much to be desired. I think an environment where she and her staff aren't interacting with patients is long overdue. The way they treat patients just shouldn't be acceptable or ok in anyone's book. I had heard she was amazing at what she does and got a little intimidated when I read the reviews speaking to Halberstadt was not the kindest of heart. Every single person I spoke to was so generous and kind and going out of their way to make sure I had an incredible experience. Then I get into the doctors office and she spent so much time with me I really felt like she prepared she was knowledgeable and that she really wanted to help me with my problem . I went to Dr O'Connor after an ultrasound detected nodules on my thyroid. I knew during my first consultation that I was going to appreciate her style. She has a sense of humor, and a down to earth personality that I've rarely found in a Dr. She spent 30-40 minutes describing what the results meant, and getting a detailed history from me, and I was impressed with the time she took to help me understand what was going on. I needed a fine needle aspiration, and was assured it would be a simple and pretty painless procedure. A friend had one in the bay area, and told me horror stories, so I was a bit skeptical. Dr O'Connor is the BEST. My quality of life has been changed drastically for the better since I became her patient many years ago. I was treated horribly when , for the first time since I became a patient, I had to reschedule an appointment. I was scolded like a 5 year old child. When I pointed out my need to reschedule was job related and beyond my control, the woman on the line became even more upset. So I cannot reschedule without being berated , even though I never complained about the average 60' to 90' delay every time I've been to the office? If I could give this doctor negative stars I would. First let's start with the staff. The staff was extremely rude to me on the phone as well as in the waiting room. I was having some problems locating the office so I gave them a call. They rudely told me they could not help me and referred to me with derogatory names like hun and sweetie. I know I'm young but thats no excuse to not help me. When I finally got there the staff became even more rude as they talked about me behind the counter about my insurance. My insurance bills as blue cross and they did not believe me. They told me to my face I was wrong about my own insurance billing. At this point I was so frustrated I was in tears. Finally when I go to see Dr. Gabrielle O'Connor she tells me she can't help me with my problem and then she goes on to accuse me that I have major depressive disorder. She explains to me that since it runs in my family I must have it. Then she said she couldn't help me with my medical problem so she prescribed me Advil. I kid you not she prescribed me Advil to help me. That should have been a red flag that her entire office is a scam and she is a thief. A few days ago--months after my appointment with her mind you--I receive the bill for my appointment. She charged me $300 for a 15 minute consultation and a prescription for Advil. Fortunately my insurance is covering some of it. She is a thief and a scam artist. How could someone with any moral conscious charge someone $300 for Advil. Mind you, I took the Advil and it did not solve any of my medical issues. Overall, if you are looking to get ripped off by a thief who's staff will treat you rudely go to Dr. Gabrielle O'Connor, she won't disappoint. read more

I have been seeing Dr. O'Connor for over 15 years. She is incredibly smart and an excellent doctor. I was already a patient when I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. She was awesome through everything and I trust her implicitly. I now see her every 3 months for check-ups and I always leave feeling like my concerns have been addressed and there is a plan of action. I have referred several friends to her and they have nothing but great things to say. She has a dry wit and does not sugar coat anything, which I appreciate. There is no guessing what she means.
