I came in specifically for lower back surface piercings and made it very clear what I was requesting. Both receptionists questioned the piercer--twice--about whether he had the correct jewelry for surface piercings. He claimed that he did.
Despite this, I was pierced using curved bars instead of proper surface (staple) bars, which are the correct jewelry for this type of piercing. This should never have been done. If the shop does not perform surface piercings or does not carry the correct jewelry, that should have been stated upfront.
Instead, they took my money anyway, resulting in severe swelling and trauma to my skin. I ultimately had to go to another tattoo/piercing shop where the staff actually cared about my body and corrected the situation.
What makes this worse is that when I called back, the receptionist stated that they "only use curved bars." If that is the case, why pierce me at all? This was not an issue of misunderstanding--it was a matter of greed over honesty and safety.
I would have still patronized the shop and gotten something else done if they had simply been honest. No one should have their body compromised because a shop prioritizes money over proper technique and client safety.
I strongly urge others to do their research and ask very specific questions before trusting this shop with surface piercings. read more
