So good! I stopped by there yesterday and got some information about getting my nose pierced. I received a card with a QR code to schedule my appointment. My appointment was scheduled for 12:40 today. I arrived on time and got my nose pierced by Ray in just a few minutes. Ray was very kind and gave all the information I needed to care after the piercing. The needle going into my nose gave me a little tears from the light pain. Alright, for starters I got my second tattoo here and my first one I got at Lunar ink in Porter. There is a HUGE difference between my first and my second, the tattoo I got at magic needle is horrendous. It feels like it could peel off of my skin. My other one that I got In Porter feels like my actual skin but this one is just AWFUL. I 100% do not recommend coming here. The tattoo artist I ended up getting was very rude. I was very nervous because this was only my second tattoo and he was just very ugly to my friend and I. I've had 2 great experiences the past month. First I walked in (without an appointment but after reading through comments you probably should call ahead and schedule an appointment) and got my nose pierced by Ray who was able to squeeze me in before his next appointment. I have read through the comments and I can see how people would take him as rude but I think he is just straight forward, to the point, and not the guy to hold your hand. He is there to do his job which is to pierce whatever you want pierced. I actually got my nose double pierced by him at the same time with hoops! It was just extremely fast and has healed beautifully. Next I just went yesterday and got a tattoo by Justin Villarreal (I contacted him specifically because my sister has gotten a few tattoos by him). I cannot say enough great things about this guy! First off his customer service is the best I've ever had! I txt with him and discussed my tattoo over the weekend, he had availability this Monday. When I got there he hadn't been able to work on my tattoo before hand (it was Easter so I totally understood) but for the inconvenience he discounted my tattoo rate from $120/hr to $100/hr. Awesome. It took a while for us to come up with exactly what I wanted (I am extremely particular) but he was so patient and extremely accommodating. And to top it all off, his line work is impeccable! I got my ears pierced at Claire's and somehow one of them closed up so I had it re-pierced here. It was a amazing experience, super quick and they took me back before my appointment time. It took about 10 minutes at the most and he put the other earring in my ear that wasn't closed for me. Only $30 and you get a decent pair of earrings. By doing my previous research on the shop, and the piercer Ray , I was very hopeful that I would have a great experience because by reviewing recent reviews everyone said he was a great! I came to the shop at 12 PM for my appointment and the door was still locked. Ray came to open the door for me and took my information down before going into the piercing room. Overall the cleanliness of the store was pretty immaculate but I did not receive the best service from Ray. I was told by Ray that I was "over thinking" and I was "thinking about it too much" when asking my questions, mind you I was coming in for my first nostril piercing I had many questions about aftercare but it seemed like Ray just brushed off my questions. He told me he had another appointment after me and could not help me clean my piercing after he pierced it because his hands were dirty. This is a late yet much needed review. I had my belly button pierced at Magic Needle sometime in October of 2015. The experience was good besides the fact that the piercer seemed grumpy, agitated, and was very short with me, my mom, and my friend. For weeks after, the piercing is fine and healing, little did I know what I was in for this next year and a half. Constant infection, off and on. Inflamed and red with pus, crusty, and painful. I was cleaning it daily so I had no idea what was wrong, maybe a rejection or metal allergy, but for it to be a metal allergy did not make sense to me because I was told they pierced my belly button with stainless/surgical steel, and that's what I wear in my incredibly sensitive ears. I put up with this pain for over a year until I stopped at a piercer on a vacation in New Orleans. I told him everything and asked him to take the damn thing out. He grabbed a piece of surgical steel jewelry he has, and it looked quite different from what they claimed was surgical steel at Magic Needle. I had him replace my jewelry from Magic Needle for this new surgical steel jewelry, and within 2-3 weeks my belly button is better than it has ever been. No infections and completely healed. If you have sensitivity to metals, watch out what they're piercing you with here. It may not be what they claim read more

Listen, Ray seems to be very educated in his line of work, he did well with placement and answering questions. definitely more of the silent type but some people are just naturally like that, not a big deal. however, given they aren't APA certified (because the only APA certified shop is 713 tattoo parlor downtown) i was a bit nervous about going because i have a really fond relationship with 713 since they are exceptionally professional and walk you through everything including preparing you for the piercing and offering advice for after care, anatomy placement, and how to breath while receiving piercing. but a coworker of mine has been going to Ray for years and she is completely decked out in piercing everywhere that look great. HOWEVER Ray does not give warning when he does piercing despite me asking for it. i got my second lobe piercing on both sides and a vertical labret piercing. i currently have double nostril piercings, a septum, ear piercings and i've gotten my nipples done in the past so i have a decent pain tolerance but i was nervous for the labret because i didn't know how a lip piercing was going to feel or how i should position my face or anything. he gave a warning for the first lobe piercing, the second lobe he just pierced without warning. the lip piercing we agreed on placement and he cleaned the area, however i didn't know if there was going to be a clamp or what so when he touched my lip i assumed it would be a moment before he pierced but instead he just shoved the needle through. not only did it catch me by surprise causing me to not do my breathing exercise but it also took some effort getting the needle through (which i understand to an extent but considering the circumstances it sucked.) besides these red flags i let it go, and just considered it a bad experience. however, i went to 713 to get the piercing resized cause it was too long to allow room for swelling but now that my lip is doing well the extra length was annoying. tell me why my piercer told me that the jewelery i had in (from magic needle) WAS COSTUME JEWELERY. i will not be going back. piercing jewelery quality is extremely important read more
