Allstate Insurance made me cry. Last week, I took my convertible Mini Copper to a local car wash, and the employee of the car wash accidentally drove my car into a wall. The store manager at the car wash wouldn't give me their insurance information, probably because they haven't paid their insurance premiums in months, so I had to file a claim with my insurance company, Allstate. I expected Allstate to act on my behalf and go after the responsible party, however that didn't happen. The initial Allstate representative that I spoke with input into their system that I drove my car into a fixed object, and they had me down as the responsible party, even though I told the representative several times that I was not driving the car and I was not liable for the damage to my car. Fortunately, the store manager at the car wash signed a statement on the back of my receipt from the day of the accident, acknowledging that they were responsible and that they had damaged the front bumper of my car. I knew Allstate wouldn't be following up with the car wash to get reimbursed for the money they had to pay for the claim, because they were content placing the liability on me (their life-long customer) and letting me pay my $800 deductible because they could care less about their customers, and why should I care- - I've got "accident forgiveness." Well, I could care less about their "accident forgiveness" policy! I didn't drive my car into a wall, and I'm not going to allow the record to show otherwise! I've been misrepresented by the incompetent staff at the Birmingham, AL claims office from the very beginning; therefore I had to go to the car wash to ask them to reimburse me for the $800 deductible that I had to pay for the accident that they caused. Luckily, because I'm attractive, well-dressed and most people don't want to make me cry, the car wash gave me a check for the $800 deductible. Whether that check is valid has yet to be determined. After, I got the money for the deductible from the car wash, I followed up with Allstate to make sure they corrected their records, and to make sure they weren't going to be shelling out additional money to the car wash for any repairs to their wall, since Allstate had falsely put down that I was driving the car. The representative that I spoke with today said that I couldn't file a claim with them, and also go after the car wash for the deductible. She said something about double jeopardy, and I totally lost it. After speaking with 5 different representatives and getting nowhere, I had to bring in the big guns aka my husband. I believe he's having better luck with Allstate, but I want other innocent victims to know how you may be treated by Allstate if you file a claim. Allstate will treat you like a criminal! I highly recommend getting insurance from any other company than Allstate. I hear Erie Insurance has great rates, and the folks up north are far more educated than those in the south. I hope to one day get from underneath the stranglehold that Allstate has on me. Good luck and my sympathy to any Allstate customers out there.
