The store has a pretty cool vibe that I'd call vintage (new vintage not to be mistaken for old and outdated) It's very warm and inviting. My stylist is Marissa. She always holds an excellent conversation, while always giving me a satisfactory cut. I've ranged from super long ombré to a short bob cut. Regardless of length or color, she gives the time it takes to put fine detail into my hair. To top it off they offer a quick add on service like a peppermint scalp massage (omg! So great) or a hand massage. At the end they'll also rock your new hairdo with a complimentary lip color. They treat you like a queen there. Last thing I want to mention is that it's an Aveda salon so they boast about their natural, eco-friendly products. That's just the cherry on top to make me love them so much!

Sure enough they did and I was able to easily get scheduled for one. When I arrived I noticed some nice modern decor, quite contemporary in fact. I loved the contrast between the blush pink and the green. I had a great stylist, she did a wonderful head massage during hair washing. Then she was friendly and we chatted a bit, but I also didn't feel like there was pressure to have a conversation the entire time. I ended up with a beautiful look, and had a great experience. It had been years since I've been to Stephanie Moss, so I was curious to see how much had changed…read more The interior was a little different from what I remembered, but overall it still felt pretty familiar. I booked with a senior stylist because I really wanted to make sure I got a great cut and style, and for the most part, that's exactly what I got. She did a really good job with the consultation before we got started. She asked what I was looking for, gave me plenty of opportunity to explain the details and specifics, and ultimately did what I asked for with both the cut and the style. I was really happy with how my hair turned out. She was also friendly without being overly chatty, which I appreciated. We talked about a few things and found some things we had in common, but it never felt like forced salon small talk. The shampoo experience was probably the most disappointing part. It was pretty standard and felt a little perfunctory and rushed, almost like a quick wash you'd give yourself in the shower. The head massage itself felt great, but it was only about 15-20 seconds. I definitely would have loved more of that, and at this price point I think a little more time spent on the shampoo and scalp massage would have made the overall experience feel more luxurious. I have pretty long, fairly thick hair, so when it came time for the blowout, my stylist actually recruited another stylist to help. I don't think I've ever had two people simultaneously coming at my head with blow dryers and round brushes before! It was definitely a new experience, but they got the job done and my hair looked great afterward. My only other small criticism was the initial welcome at the front desk. The receptionist was on the phone when I arrived, and I would have been completely fine just waiting until she was finished. Instead, she tried to split her attention between the person on the phone and checking me in, and it actually made me feel a little like I was inconveniencing her by showing up for my appointment. A warmer welcome would have made a better first impression. Overall, though, it was a good experience and, most importantly, I left really happy with my haircut and style. There were a couple of areas where I think the experience could have felt a little more elevated for the price, but the actual hair service was very good and I'd be comfortable coming back.
