The referral was written in 2019 when I wanted to get braces but I chickened out. Unfortunately, cavities started developing on all the wisdom teeth over the last two years to the point where I noticed my breath did not feel clean even after brushing, flossing and mouth rinse. I decided to come in for a consult to get my questions answered. Dr. Jiries Mogannam provided my consult. He answered all my questions and gave me my options. He explained to me that the wisdom tooth can give me more issues down the line even if I can patch up all the cavities now. His main concern was the oral hygiene of my mouth and to protect the nearby molars from decay that could be spread from the wisdom teeth. He was not pushy, I left informed and empowered to take the next step. Plus, I still wanted braces so it makes sense to get the surgery. The surgery was quick and painless because I was out! I was filled with anxieties the day before and even while sitting in the chair but I knew it needed to be done. I was in and out in a hour. The recovery was painful and that was expected. I followed all the instructions given in terms of oral care and food choices. I survived to tell the tale and I am the biggest chicken out of everybody I know so if I can do this oral surgery so can you! Thank you Dr. Mogannam, the assisting staff members and the front desk! I was referred to Dr. Chavez by my primary dentist for a tooth extraction and subsequent implant installation. Tooth extraction.... quick and painless. I was worried about the implant installation. I arrived at the office and was seen right on time ( a rarity in the medical industry) Everyone I encountered were above par, kind and attentive. I was walked back to the office; the procedure was explained to me in great detail. A few more assistants were in and out explaining costs and procedures etc. Dr Chavez came in and was very friendly and knowledgeable. He explained in detail the process the day of and in the future. A local anesthetic was administered ... again Painless. The local anesthetic took effect. Dr. Chavez and his assistant were a "well-oiled machine" and worked very well together. All during the procedure every step was explained as they were moving through the tooth implant installation. Before I knew it.. installation complete. Dr. Chavez explained how I should feel in the upcoming days and made it very clear that he was available for any questions. His assistant remained in the room and explained all of the steps I would need to do in the days following the installation and provided a step-by-step handout to refer to. She walked me out of the building. Another amazing aspect, the local anesthesia was exactly that ... LOCAL. it blocked the pain only in the area that the surgery was performed on (and I didn't feel ANYTHING!) my tongue, face, nose were not numb! I could talk and I didn't feel like I was drooling. Frome start to finish, I was out of the office within an hour. Dental surgery can be scary. The receptionist who scheduled me was wooden and unfriendly and downright cold when I asked for a more convenient appointment time. When I came in, rather than being warmly welcomed, I was shuttled to the side in a very cold fashion. That would have all been tolerable if I had liked how I was treated by Dr. Jenderseck but he was even worse. I negotiate A LOT in my job. In fact, I do it all the time with a lot of different people. What's more, I know all of the "sales tricks" and how to use them to persuade someone. (I do not use them.) I could tell how Dr. Jenderseck's evaluation and presentation was not intended to determine my dental needs but instead to impress on me that he was the expert and to find out what my buying motivates are (both negotiating tricks) so he could persuade me to get the treatment. What's more, they conveniently did not tell me (because I did not ask) that they do not contract with my insurance company until they were quoting prices. (Another negotiating trick... to not let me know that I could get the same work done elsewhere for less.) Lastly, there are two types of gum rescission surgery, one in which they graft from the roof of your mouth to your gums. Another where they use donor (cadaver tissue.) Dr. Jenderseck does the former which is more painful and takes longer to recover from. I realize that oral surgery is a high margin business. I walked out feeling like he was more interested in making his Mercedes payment than in taking care of my dental health. I got the work done somewhere else.

He immediately scheduled me for an appointment the next day, on a Friday (a day his office is not normally open!). When I arrived for my appointment Dr. Costanza personally greeted me at the door and had my crown back in and seated perfectly in less than a half hour. I was impressed by how he made me feel like I wasn't imposing on his day off, even though I knew I was! Dr. Costanza has such a calm and gentle personality that he makes you feel relaxed and comfortable, even when you are having major work done. This is good for me, since I would rather do almost anything much riskier, like skydiving or wrestling alligators, than have my teeth drilled on.
