I do NOT recommend anyone buy from them, in particular their shell cordovan line. Shoes crafted in shell cordovan leather are a premium, heritage product meant to last generations. In their gammy hands they won't last a decade. Thanks to multiple corporate buy-outs and their attendant greed-driven cost cutting efforts, you now have the privilege of paying Allen Edmonds' premium price, but you no longer can expect a lasting, premium product in exchange for your money. And then if you complain about how you've been ripped off, there's a customer service supervisor on hand (after a half hour wait time) who will gaslight and stonewall you for your efforts. I bought my husband a pair of Allen-Edmonds Reserve collection dress shoes as a Christmas gift which cost $900. They were size 10.5 E which is the size that he always wears. He wore them that evening to a restaurant but realized that they were overly long and created a tripping hazard. Upon returning home, we measured them against his other 10.5 E shoes and they were over 1" longer than the others. I called customer service and was told that since he had worn them (albeit for 3 hours at a carpeted restaurant) they were not eligible for return. I mentioned that they were more than 1" longer than they should be and she indicated that being over 1" longer than his other 10.5s was not considered defective and, therefore, not returnable. I continued to explain that these were $900 shoes! The customer representative then said she would send me a return label but that they would most likely be returned to me and that I would have to pay for the return-to-me shipping. All that I was seeking was to exchange the shoes for a pair that fit - not looking to get my money back. I have never experienced such poor customer service and will never ever shop Allen-Edmonds again nor recommend their products to anyone. read more

The value proposition is pretty incredible, if you consider that you can get a quality men's shoe for nearly every occasion, something that can be recrafted and used essentially forever. Never... and I mean never... have I fallin' in love with shoes until I hit up Allen Edmonds last summer. Seriously, every guy needs at least one pair of Allen Edmonds shoes in their assortment of hunting boots, grass cutters, high school pair that is still worn today, and flip flops. The best time to get a deal is during their annual tent sale. I went last year and had to go back the next day to pick up two additional pairs, a shore care kit, and wildly wicked colored shoe strings. They also have random clothing and other great things that would make great gifts. Oh, and really excellent golf shoes that would make you the talk of the fairway. Yeah, their expensive, but they last F-O-R-E-V-E-R! Plus, you can have the bottoms replaced a few times to extend the life of the shoe. So, be sure to check their website for the dates of the next sale, or stop in to a store or showroom at the factory in Port Washington. You'll be impressed by the way they look and feel. read more

I have dealt with several other AE stores and they've had great service. This store is the exception. They don't do anything to enhance the customer experience. In fact, it seems that they go out of their way to make things as unpleasant as possible. I talked to a Sales Associate over the phone. He described the shoes to me. When I asked a question, he responded that he was not a Quality Control inspector. I ordered the shoes anyway, but they set the paperwork aside instead of processing my order. And that night the paperwork got shredded. I called the next day when I realized that I never received a receipt. We re-ordered the shoes, and I was told that they may still ship out that day. I did not receive a shipping notice that day or the next. I followed up with another email and was told they'd look into it. And then they did nothing. I recommend Allen Edmonds as a company. Until this store is better managed, I cannot recommend this particular location. read more

In the Past I have enjoyed Allen Edmonds shoes like the Dalton Wingtips or Hamilton Oxford dress boot. My wife got me a $600.00 leather bag a couple Christmases ago, and the strap broke. I called them to see if they could replace the part or sell me new one, and they offered a 20% discount for a new bag and said that it is too old, and said it's up to me to find a repair place. I asked them if I could contact who made it and they said no. I think that is probably because they say their stuff is made in America, but is actually done in the Dominican Republic. I just assumed that I was buying products from a quality company with great service. You'd think with their prices they'd be able to afford the best? They had an opportunity to have a lifelong customer and instead they took the opposite route. I'm now searching for other shoe/bag companies since customer service and quality products are important to me. read more

I have bought Allen Edmonds' factory second shoes before, largely through discount stores such as Nordstrom Rack, and the quality has been excellent. Defects have been few and hardly noticeable. But recently, I bought factory second loafers through their web site and the quality was terrible. There were numerous visible defects, the worst of which was a sole that was ripples along the side. They were a full size too large. There was no country of manufacture shown inside. These are shoes that should be repaired, discarded or given to charity. Instead, they are dumped on unsuspecting customers. If you want to return them, you will pay a restocking fee and postage that amount to to one-third of the total cost of your purchase. This has soured me on the Allen Edmonds brand for good. Look elsewhere for your shoes. read more

My (now) husband needed shoes for our wedding (9/5) and he had been shopping Allen-Edmonds (full-priced) for awhile and found several pairs he liked. I realize that Allen Edmonds shoes are AMAZING and they are well made, but I had a hard time choking down the $250 price tag on a pair of shoes that he would wear to our wedding and only on occasion since he is allowed to wear sneakers to work. After looking at some Allen Edmonds full-priced shoes, I asked him to look at similarly priced styles at different price points to see the difference. Voila! An iMessage with pictures of very similar shoes from an Allen Edmonds Outlet. Yes, that's right, Allen-Edmonds has an outlet and it's called Allen-Edmonds Shoe Bank. There is one in Brookfield and one in Port Washington. Neither is too far and both are open all day 7 days a week. I was pretty surprised by this! On the website you can search for the shoes by location, so my husband did just that and then called the Shoe Bank to ask them to hold the shoes for a couple days until we could jet up to Port Washington. When we arrived, there were a few other people there being assisted and my husband and I browsed around. They had shoes, clothes, leather goods, accessories, luggage, and more. When it was our turn, a nice woman grabbed the shoes from the hold area and helped my husband try them on. This pair didn't fit and she advised us not to buy them since they weren't a perfect match. One of the things I wasn't there for, but my husband told me about, was this shoe sizing machine. You step in and it takes a picture of your feet and creates a 3-D model of them to ensure a close to perfect fit. We ended up buying a different pair that were on sale and I'm sure we'll be back towards winter to look some more. I wish that Allen Edmonds made women's shoes too, but for men, the Shoe Bank is definitely worth checking out. read more

I wanted to buy a pair of shoes for a friend as a birthday present. I know his size, 12 D, and I know that he has a black pair of AE shoes that goes with his suit that are comfortable and nice looking.. They're having a big sale now and the driving shoes that I wanted are not on sale, but that's not the real point of my review. Almost immediately after I visited the AE site I kept on getting Allen Edmonds adverts on my facebook page, you tube, and elsewhere. So I went into my internet options and deleted the Allen Edmonds cookie. No help! The ads just keep on coming and coming. My message to the company is that you people don't have to resort to this irritating barrage of adverts. Your shoes are good, your prices are good when compared to the high quality, your mail brochures are excellent, your sales people answer the phone promptly. What are you thinking with these cookies? This barrage of adverts is the type of thing that fits in with low life companies. Low life companies are payday loan companies and companies selling get rich quick systems. People, and the friends of people, don't decide to buy a shoe because an irritating online advert pops up on nearly every site. You do it while walking and saying to yourself "a new pair of shoes would (a) feel comfy now, or (b) would look sharp now." Worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with. Ordered a pair of factory seconds. They billed me then cancelled and said they were no longer in stock and had to wait a few days to get money back. Ordered another pair brand new. States they give military 15% off. It didn't so then they said that's only on certain shoes. Got an email saying my order had been cancelled 2 days after ordering new shoes with no explanation. I called they said my address didn't match my card information. They read the information to me and its all correct. I've had same card and address forever. No issues anywhere else ever. Came here as soon as I found out about it. Love Allen Edmonds and would save my money to get a pair. Now I don't need to as they are very reasonable here. Just a little more than your average pair of quality shoes. I had boxes all over the floor and I said to myself. Pick 5 and then I narrowed it down to two. I do have a problem with the heal on one pair, but I will make the trek back soon to rectify the situation and pick up another couple pair. read more

Solid 2 stars. Not bad, but I've had much better shopping experiences, and the shoe quality doesn't match the most basic of quality expectations. Shopping Experience - It was the Saturday before Easter. They were open. I had the time to stop in their shop, so I did. The sales staff we're audibly complaining that they had to work the day before Easter. It just made it uncomfortable to shop there. That's an internal issue that needs to be taken up with your colleagues and managers. Customers don't have to pay with awkwardness because you're unhappy with your schedule. Greg was cool and was the most engaging sales person. Everyone else was kind of gruff. Also, during purchase, I gave my address and email a total of 5 times between the two. This was in person, not over the phone. I called customer service because my shoe ripped at a seam (next part of review) the next day, onl y to find they didn't even have my address! Maybe Wisconsin residents are used to a certain gloom in their step, and therefore find their experiences passable. Shoe Quality - Type "quality mens dress shoe" in Google and you're bound to see books worth of internet literature on Allen Edmonds. I wore my shoes the following day. Walked literally 1 mile outside, then upstairs in a building I entered, and my shoe has a quarter inch tear on one of the seams! I've never seen this before in my life. I've put shoes through much worse than simply walking around. Overall, I don't get it. I called AE customer service about my shoe tear. They we're friendly over the phone, sent me a UPS label to check it out...and they got my address wrong again! HA! I have to get another label. I don't have an exotic accent or any characteristic of my speech that would make it difficult to hear. I even used phoenetics for the more difficult sounding letters i.e. 'f as in frank.' All I can do is L to the OL at this point. I can also bring some honesty to the discussion on Allen Edmonds, their quality, and service. I'm not lucky that AE would follow up with me on a quality issue with their shoe. It's called customer service and I expect it. I'm honestly not sure if I'd ever buy a pair of Allen Edmonds again. Maybe. My thoughts can change and I will update this review if they do. There's a lot of people who stand by this company, but my experience with Allen Edmonds is like like the emperor with no clothes. For now, it seems to be another old-time company living on it's past reputation. I do like the shoe design, and hoped for equally superior construction, but that doesn't seem to be the case. read more
