Beware. Allen & Mathewson was ok, just ok, until they were bought by Superior. Terrible customer service. The last person I spoke with clearly, just woke up. On the phone for 10 minutes, on hold for 20 yet no closer to resolving issue. I was told I'd get a call back in 24-48 hours, that was two weeks ago. Keep detailed records of every encounter with them, everything in writing. They are untrustworthy. read more

When they were NOT attached to Superior Gas they were a wonderful company. NOW they are horrible. They knocked on my door and said they were there to pick up the monitor off my tank, in a truck with another company name. I call the company and they say yes they sent them. If you want to keep the monitor it is $97 a year. Fast forward two weeks, I am nearly on empty, in cold temperatures. I call and let them know my tank is reading 23% on a long weekend And out furnace went out. The customer service rep tells me they can be out in 5 to 7 days. I am in my 70s. Is this what they call SUPERIOR service. Not in my eyes. So now my husband I get to CHILL over the long weekend. read more

This company recently took over the accounts in my area from Superior Plus Propane who had previously bought out Rymes Propane. Apparently during the two handoffs, there was a screw up on converting the customer accounts. I was always a will-call account with Rymes and never on auto delivery. A&M recently delivered LPG fuel to my house without my permission or consent and left me with a large bill to pay. After waiting over half an hour on hold, I spoke to a degenerate woman named Donna who was unapologetic regarding the mistake and had a nasty attitude as if the situation was my fault. After falsely claiming that I was on auto delivery (I was not) she promised to look into the matter and call me back. I made it clear that I did not order fuel and I would not be responsible for the bill. A week later after never hearing back, I called again this time waiting 45 mins before speaking to Kendra who to her credit was more pleasant than Donna. I again explained the situation and requested that they come and pump the tanks out as I would not be responsible for fuel I did not order. Kendra apologized and said there was "a glitch in the system". She promised to escalate the issue for resolution and that I would receive a call back. I believe, but cannot confirm that the A&M phone number is actually routed to a Superior Plus Propane call centre although I cannot confirm this. In any case, three weeks after initial contact, this rubbish company still has not called me back or offered to remedy the situation. read more

Incredibly BAD customer service. They sell propane furnaces apparently, but don't know how much they cost!

What a bunch of lying scumbags. They agreed to pick up three propane tanks from my property in exchange for reimbursement at the going rate for propane. Have pics of all the registers. One 80% full, one 70% and the other 20. Their Service Manager, Paul Cote said, almost three dollars a gallon. Once they were picked up, they said the it would be four to six weeks to receive the check. Last week, it was six weeks and no check. Shocker. I called and got Paul´s VM and told him I had not received a check. No return phone call. Called again on Monday, he made all sorts of excuses, contradicted himself and then said they´d be paying me just over a dollar a gallon and "didn´t know when I would be getting my check. I could have just kept the tanks and used the propane for my new stove! Do you think you can get away with treating people like this? I have called the Attorney General´s Office (603-271-3641) and I will take them to court. STAY AWAY from these liars. Worst company I've ever dealt with they claim that I'm 90 days past due but more accurately 60 days. Due to moving and found that we never received a final bill waited for a final bill as who pays for something they don't see. Was in contact with Cindy Latiolais Regarding payment of my balance. She was extremely rude and difficult to deal with threatened me with their collections attorney and told me that I wouldn't want to deal with them when I wasn't even currently in collection status. Paid what was owed and found that they charge me three times. Contacted them and notified them of over charges and she was again extremely rude. She accidentally forwarded me an email sent to Ellen Shaw slandering me calling me names and lying. See attached image. Since moving into our home, we have used this company. An awful experience! I have 2 young children, and right now and 2 days previous, we have had no heat! My husband called this place, letting them know we need oil, and the woman was rude and, because we don't show proof of payment, which we have, here at our house, they won't give us oil! They have done this to us numerous times. They only deliver to us on a Friday, too. And, there are times we need oil on a Monday, so we are in a cold home, waiting, until Friday. We are looking for a more friendly, understanding oil company. We have had it! read more

Two stars because I'm in a good mood, yesterday marks at least the third time that Allen and Mathewson has let one of my apartment house has run out of fuel even though they are on automatic delivery. One occasion even froze pipes and ruined a floor. This last occasion it took five phone calls to finally get an oil truck there for hours later and I never got an apology from anybody on the phone in fact when I asked for one the lady just told me yeah you're right we have bad service. So tell me again why I still use them??? read more

I own a small property with a mobile home tenant on the lot. My tenant has lived there for seventeen years and tells me he has used Allen & Mathewson for most of that for his oil deliveries. With the recent cold spell, of course everyone has been having problems. He called them last monday, Jan 1 for an oil delivery and was promised delivery by Friday Jan 5. While he was away for the weekend the oil tank ran dry, as they had not fulfilled their promise. After discovering his trailer to be an absolute ice box last night, Sunday, when he returned home I was brought into the loop. He tried to get in touch with Allen & Mathewson and was on hold for over 45 minutes with no answer. I called another local provider who was at the property within 10 minutes, and I wasn't on hold at all. As it turns out there are several burst pipes in the crawl space, a technician was needed to replace the furnace oil nozzle, and add on an emergency delivery fee from the other provider. Today I am not a happy landlord, and partly thanks to Allen & Mathewson's failure to deliver as promised. I for one will never use this company. read more

We recently moved into our new home and found an Allen and Mathewson tag on the furnace, so I called them to perform the annual maintenance in preparation for winter. The technician arrived on time, showed us exactly what he was doing, and answered a number of questions that we had about the systems in our new home. He cleaned up after himself and took the time to fuss over the small dogs enough so they didn't bark quite so much as he went in and out. The office staff is easy to work with and helped us get our new account and deliveries set up with no difficulty. read more

When we have called them for assistance with our furnace they have always been there for us and responded quickly. As you know the only time we ever needed assistance was over the weekend or a holiday. That is how it always is. I like their budgeting plan so I don't have to pay a huge amount of money when they fill my oil tank. I have found their billing paperwork to be a bit confusing though. read more

Allen & Mathewson has provided stellar customer service both in person and on the phone. I am new to fuel oil and propane, so needed some hand holding. They figured out what I needed, explained all the routines and procedures and set up an automatic refill plan. I am so thankful for their courteous, careful service!!! read more

Allen & Mathewson Energy bought out my old energy providers. Good thing I check my statements as they jacked up the price of propane over $1/ gallon on my first shipment. I called and told them what my previous rate was and they said oh okay, we'll just switch it back to that. How many people got screwed over because they didn't check their statements? Then they budget me a certain amount for the budget plan...I go over just a little and somehow its a difference of $400 that they are now constantly telling me I need to pay... well I don't have the money because I didn't budget for it. Now I'm on the pay as they deliver it plan, locked in at $2.29/ gallon, but if I stayed with the budget plan they charge well over $3/ gallon. How is this fair? The new budget they were trying to sell me on budgeted for over 100 more gallons a year and went up $110/month. How is this possibly you ask? They said they adjust the right by speculating the oil market? Is this even legal? What a horribly dishonest company, I suggest you check your statements often and look elsewhere for energy needs. They truly have no moral values at all. read more
