I booked a few flights through this airline amidst the entire United fiasco because it was less than $200 roundtrip to my destinations. Huge mistake! They are lacking in customer service. There is no way to get in direct contact with them. There is only a number at the counter which allows you to leave a message with no immediate response. Their ticketing counter is a joke! No representative is available to help you in any way, shape, or form. One of my flights boarded within half an hour of them opening their ticket counter. Please tell me how I'm to get through security and make it to my gate on time. It is impossible unless you run! A few things to consider. Don't plan to use this airline if you have a checked or carry-on bag. You'll have to check with the ticket counter which is never open until last minute. For all the stress and the headaches, it is not worth the $100 or so in savings. Use a major airline!

Allegiant is a new carrier for Austin and currently only flies non-stop to Vegas. Their business model has them flying non-stop from smaller cities and doing it very cheaply. The fares can be super cheap, but also, everything costs extra on Allegiant. You pay $30 or so just for the right to choose your seat on the plane (all seats are coach, like Southwest). Of course, you can pay $0 and let them choose your seat. You pay $10-$50 or so to take a carry-on suitcase, depending on whether you do it online or at the airport, and even more to check a suitcase. One "personal item" (e.g. something that can fit under the seat in front of you) is free. They are also carry-on nazis. They actually might check the size of your carry-on bags by making you squish it into one of those "Your bag must fit these dimensions" racks that you always see at the airport. They made me do it (I had to re-pack my suitcase on the spot to make it fit). When you're waiting to board the plane, they call "zone groups" by number. "Zone Group 6!" and all the people with Zone Group 6 printed on their ticket get in line at the gate. The thing is, there is no rational order to the Zone Groups. They actually called them in this order: Zone Group 6 Zone Group 3 Zone Group 4 Zone Group 2 The Allegiant rep said "that's just the way it is" with no other explanation. If you happen to walk up to the gate a bit late, you'll have to ask someone which zone groups they've already called. The plane I flew was an MD-80 and appeared to be new, or, at least renovated. None of the seats on the plane recline but the seats are fairly comfortable. The seatback tray tables are smallish and the molding on the back of the seat angles in such a way that probably no laptop in existence will fit on the tray table. Even an iPad on its side with a bluetooth keyboard will fail. I had to skooch my 13" macbook onto my lap in order to use it. No Wifi, of course, and I doubt there ever will be. When the stewardesses come down the aisle to serve drinks and food, everything costs money. You want water? $2 for a bottled water. They truly do fly some bizarre routes, to and from smaller cities in the U.S., but the fares can be bargain basement. 4 stars for making it dirt cheap and relatively painless. One star off for not having a frequent flier club.

First, they charge you $25 to check a bag. As a result, everyone flies with like, 16 carry-ons a piece, which they say NOTHING about, so all the overhead space is full after group 1 of 4 boards. Then, after practically begging people to gate check their bags (now for free), I happily oblige thinking "sweet, free bag check". I just got my bag back. With a giant metal spear on the end. They broke off the rollie handle, so now the only use for my suitcase is jousting, because said giant spear can't retract. To top it off, this poor fellow next to me is now missing his wheelchair. They lost it. Thanks American. Real cool.

    Poor ESA dogs.

This was a tough weekend, given all the activities in downtown Austin (SXSW), and I knew traffic could be nutty so I planned accordingly as this was a one-day trip (previous obligation). Happy to say that the outbound bus quickly completed the boarding process and we were on the road in no time, and arrived in Houston at 1:15pm. The driver and attendant were pleasant (apologies I can't recall their names). I did opt to enjoy a meal on board - the chicken club sandwich (with bacon) was decent. Inbound bus back to Austin was right on time and boarded quickly, and I made it home on time - 6:45pm arrival. No meal for me as food options were limited but I did enjoy snacks. Again, the driver and attendant were pleasant (kudos to consistency). In my opinion, this is money well spent due to the overall value of service, and especially if you want to avoid driving yourself. The bus itself is really spacious, clean bathroom, and the seats are comfortable. I managed to nap on both rides. I will definitely use Vonlane again for future travel to Houston or Dallas.

It was fairly quick. The plane was clean. The seats were typical. They feel small but they are comfortable enough. There is a tray table on the seat in front of you that you can use, a place you can hang your phone on the seat in front of you, and a charger port that you can attach your charging cable to to continue charging your phone while in flight. The people that worked flying to our destination and flying back home were friendly and did their jobs well catering to everyone. Overall I had a positive experience with American Airlines. I purchased a first-class ticket for a red-eye flight and received none of the basic amenities I expected: no water, no blanket, no food, and no in-flight entertainment. Even the seat pouch was torn, and my phone fell through it. The situation became much worse when my trip was delayed by 15 hours. I was traveling to attend a wedding, but I ended up stranded at Austin Airport with no hotel accommodation, refund, or meaningful support from the airline. To even communicate wiht representatives we had to stand in line for 4 freaking hours. After waiting and dealing with the uncertainty, I was forced to cancel my trip altogether and return home, missing the wedding entirely. For the price I paid and the level of service I received, this experience was completely unacceptable. I would not recommend American Airlines based on this experience.

On our outgoing leg we had a horrible experience and when I left a bad review, luckily my wife checked our outgoing flights back to the U.S., only to discover our flights home had been cancelled. To make things worse, the airline had the audacity to say that I had cancelled our flights home (wife, step son and myself).... Oddly enough, we were in a remote beach front town with horrible internet, but sure United.... (Sigh) After having to dedicate almost three hours to get all of that resolved - instead of enjoying that time on our vacation... (sigh) Bottom line, if you can, try to AVOID this airline at all costs!!!!!! Not only do you become irrelevant once you purchase the tickets. If for some reason you wanted to talk to FIVE employees at a counter on a very late flight out of Houston and inquire on how you can pay for an upgrade.... Don't think that the staff at Houston will care once you're at the gate... Clearly their conversations ARE more important than any question you may have.... Again, if I can, I'm going to share the details (which I'm leaving quite a few things out) to everyone I know personally when they ask me "what do I think of United"...... I hope someone attempts to look up what happened from the airline, there is a three hour long recorded phone call once United left us stranded outside the U.S....... So, if anyone from United cares - do your research and see when I flew with my family, listen to the phone call and then attempt to explain or justify your actions... The key in my mind with this airline is to book the seats with more leg room, which actually I find to be more space than other airlines and THEN the seats also recline. I got the package that included checked bag, extra room seats, and carry on item. Yes its more, but the final price was still HALF what it would be with any other carrier. I am decorated known with a high authority in my industry. I have recently purchased 2 stud colts that are my life's ambitions. Due to my own error, I was working on paperwork helping patients receive their wheelchairs that morning. I lost track of time and was slightly late for my flight. I must tell you of my horrific experience with your airline. On 6/5/26 I walked to the gate moments after takeoff. I had a pit in my stomach. I felt I messed everything up. I walked to the counter at gate 36 in Austin. I was tearing up of my failure and asked the most hateful, condescending woman I have ever encountered to help me. I was crying and I asked for help. She told me, I am busy working on another flight and to call customer service. I thanked her for not helping me. I stood to the side and frantically looked up your customer service number. My internet wasn't working. I began breathing deep and crying more intensely. She was ignoring me. I asked her again and she rudely snapped, "I told you I am busy I will get to you when I can." I then turned from a weak boy to a vengeful man. I demanded a photo copy of her name badge. She 100% refused to allow me to take a picture. I told her about my mental disorder. Her response, "Stand aside sir, security is on the way to escort your from the premises." Another one of your employees, a tall, lanky, caucasion walked to her. I asked him what her name was. He completely ignored me and walked away. I called at him on 3 occasions and he just walked off. The level of disrespect was astonishing. I was literally crying as a 45-year-old man and your employees gave no concern. My question is, why are you employing people that do not care about a soul? They only care about the task at hand. This blows my mind. I felt a loss for humanity with this employee that I wish to be terminated or reprimanded for a total lack of support. I walked away ashamed. I couldn't contain my tears. She destroyed me and made me start thinking of suicidal ideations. I called your customer service on 2 occasions, which I hope were recorded. No one helped me. I failed my Poseidon and Boomerang. They were not able to meet their new Daddy as baby colts that was so important to me. I This will never happen again. I am mentally drained and feel destroyed. I sincerely hope you will make this right. . I would like this settled without legal involvement. I hope you have a heart and can see how this mentally torchered me. Patrick Pearson, ATP
