From start to finish... Very happy with this dealer. I did a lot of the leg work over the phone…read moresince I live almost five hours away. The salesman was confident and knowledgable. I was able to work one on one with the owner Tom, who made me comfortable in buying from a dealer so far away. Took the plunge, drove all the way to Quincy, loved the truck, condition was as stated and shown in the listing. Tom made me feel welcome and comfortable while we worked up the deal. Service after the sale was exceptional as well. Overall very pleased. I was the only person stuck in Boston rush hour traffic smiling ear to ear!

I bought a used vehicle from Auto-Matic a year or two ago, and I can say without equivocation that…read moreit was the worst automotive-related decision I have ever made. To be fair, some of the issues were facilitated by my pressing need for a vehicle as well as my own naivete, but the overall experience with Auto-Matic left me feeling like I had been taken advantage of. Throughout the inital process of test driving one of their vehicles, the sales associate tried all of the lame and cliche ways of pressuring me into making a purchase. These are the kinds of lines that a movie would usually parody, but it was reality at Auto-Matic. Some of the gems: - "I have three more appointments listed for this car later today. You need to decide now, or she'll be gone." When I pointed out that the car had been listed on their website for over two months he backed down. - "There's no wiggle room on the price. We're already losing money on it!" After getting out of my seat the price was suddenly reduced. There's more, but that should suffice. Yes, all of these are tried and true tactics that I suppose are to be expected at a used car dealership, but it's still sleazy and transparently obvious. Despite some concerns with the staff, I liked the car and decided to buy it. I found the finance manager to be quite helpful, and the paperwork process was relatively straight-forward. The problems came immediately after. When I left the office to drive my new car home, the associate handed me a single key. No key pad, no duplicate. "Sorry," he explained, "this is all we've got. Call the manager later this week and we'll sort it out." Unfortunately I trusted them to keep their word, but two years later I still only have one key that will cost $80 to duplicate. They also gave me the car without any gas. Thanks. Over the next week I discovered more problems: One of the heated seats did not work (the side the associate was sitting on that he described as "toasty"), the CD player was broken and would not accept any discs, the trunk wouldn't close properly, etc. When I called to ask about fixing these issues the manager basically told me "Sorry, sucks to be you." Right. Thanks. At that point I wiped my hands clean of Auto-Matic. Instead of dealing with their dismissive and unhelpful staff, I decided to just get the repairs done on my own. Again, part of the responsibility is on me for not doing a 100 point check on every single aspect of the car before making the purchase, but I would never entertain the thought of purchasing from Auto-Matic again. I'm writing this two years after the fact because I have recently had interactions with other used car dealerships that have been MUCH more satisfying. Avoid Auto-Matic at all costs.
