I set up care for my grandmother while I was out of the country. I informed the caregivers and company of my departure. They called my 91 year old grandma and told her money was due. They didn't explain to her there was issues with the auto debit (yes, they require you to debit from your account). She had no idea there was an issue with payment. She thought they were telling her the bill. She doesn't even pay her own bills. They emailed me saying they terminated services and were proceeding with legal action for non payment. I was out of the country, in the jungle, and could not receive signal. If they had simply mentioned to my grandma payment wasn't received, she could have communicated to me the issue when I drove into town every day to get signal to call her. But they didn't communicate that. They left my grandma, at 91 with a broken femur, by herself and threatened unnecessary legal action, all because they have issues with communication within their company. If they're not communicating effectively, that really worries me for the "care" they're providing to their patients. This started out as a life saver with their care, and turned into a nightmare when I needed them the most. Please be aware you will have to watch this company. Several caregivers they sent were old and out of shape. They couldn't have picked up my grandma. Especially, if you get Kim. She just plays on her phone in the other room. Maria and Claudia are incredible. I can't say enough good things about them. But we rarely got them. I paid for an old lady to watch an old lady 90% of the time. I could keep going but this topic is incredibly upsetting. Update: The owner reached out to me, but wouldn't make time to sit down with me to discuss my issues. He's too busy, but can take a phone call only. Business owner to business owner, If you really cared about your business, you'd make time. I care for 2 elderly people and own two businesses. I also workout 3 hours a day. You make time for what matters to you. It's simple. Additionally, I woke up to an unauthorized charge debited from my account when they have been paid in full. I guess I'll have to get an attorney involved. This whole situation is ridiculous. This isn't my first rodeo with home health care. The hospice service that came for my mother gave us zero issues with billing, staff, etc. Visiting Angels was, and continues to be, a nightmare in disguise of a blessing. These people just won't get out of our lives. It feels like harassment at this point.

Yet once Michele White the caseworker took over, she dropped the ball. Although she was the one that shared a listing of providers for cremation, she failed to enter that information under my step-fathers case. Once he passed, the nurse Jariah called a company that is contracted by Harris County to come pick him up as if his family did not already complete our due diligence and make the final arrangements. My step-father was picked up from his assisted living facility and taken away like he was trash and an inconvenience. I had to call around looking for him in the time when we should be able to grieve our loss. Instead, I was forced to contact another company that I didn't even know existed and complete some documents to have him released to the provider we originally selected. No apology was offered. No sorry for your loss. Only call I received was for the family to be blamed for everything. Their staff acted as if our family was not proactive and caring enough to make the final arrangements in a timely manner. I highly recommend to find another hospice provider. These people a cut throat salesmen looking for the newest victims to target. They tell you everything they think you need to hear and once you sign the paperwork, they forget you exist. These people do NOT care about the patient but the billing. e were failed and yet we were the problem. Sadly no one cared nor were they concerned. Run and do not look back.

My grandfather passed away yesterday December 30th. Let me start off my saying, the caregivers, the…read moremanager have been EXCELLENT to my family and I. They love their job, and respect the families and their loved ones they care for. It's unique individuals like them that make their lives so much better than they would be other wise. Our experience yesterday with the "Owner" miss Pat. Maybe 20 minutes following my grandfathers passing she lets us know that we have 2 hours until they come pick up his body. I thought, insensitive yes, but maybe that's a formality thing. My uncle who is disabled lives 25mins from the home my grandfather stayed at. It was going to take 2 hours to get him back to Lightheart for him to have his moment with his father (he's paralyzed on one side, and unable to speak, a long transport process as you could imagine). I ask Miss Pat if we could have more time so he could be with his father for a short while, she says "I have a facility to run, and i need to keep a normal routine going for the other residents", to that I say "number 1 today's not a 'NORMAL' day my grandfather just passed and it'd be nice if we could get my uncle so he could see his father one last time' ". To which she replies "I've been in business over 20 years and I've never had a request like this, I have a business to run". I ask her "is it for legal reasons that there a 2 hour time limit, if so I would understand that." She states " I've been in business 20years and never had a request like that" To which I say "well if you've been in business for 20 years you of all people know how difficult it is for the family of a loved one who has passed, so all I'm asking for is for my uncle to be able to see his father again and have a moment with him." She says "you have 2 hours and that's it!" (I have record of this conversation and 3 witnesses to corroborate this). ....so we hurried up and got into the car to go get my uncle. We returned 2 hours later with him and we find out the funeral home wasn't going to be able to pick my grandfathers body up for another 3 hours. So what was the point of that confrontation, the lack of compassion and the lack for professionalism. You don't treat the family like that in their time of distress! What separates this facility from all others (we had tried many other assisted living facilities), was their caregivers and The general manager and their LOVE and compassion for their patients (really their new family members they care for). The Thousands of dollars one spends at a facility like this should have equaled a little bit more time with our loved one. Thank you to the staff, we have so much love for y'all. YOU GUYS are what makes Lightheart what it is, not the owner.

(I was aware that due to my father's fractured hip at the age of 89 that he only had a 17% to 33% chance of living.) He continued to stay at Baywind but was taken care of by Village Home Health and Hospice. The entire staff is professional, knowledgeable, curtious, compassionate, and extremely kind-hearted. They were incredible in the last 5 days of my father's life. They took exceptional care of him and let him pass away with the utmost respect and dignity. I stayed with my father every day for 12 to 14 hours a day. I always discussed with Rose what I saw my father going through each day so his medications could be adjusted accordingly. I personally want to thank Rose for always being upfront and honest with me regarding the status of my father's failing health in his last days. I always wanted the truth, and I respect Rose very much for never sugar coating it. On the last day, I knew my father only had a few hours left, so I went home to be with my brother's. I knew my father would not pass away in front of his only daughter. So, I allowed him to pass away on his own terms and when he was ready. Loosing my father, who was my best friend, is the absolute hardest thing I will ever have to endure in my life, but knowing that he was cared for by the very best gives me peace of mind. Thank you to everyone at Village Home Health and Hospice for taking such exceptional care of my father as well as my family. I highly recommend Village Home Health and Hospice for those who want their loved ones to receive the very best of care at the end.
