OUTSTANDING SERVICE!!! This was my first time handling a cremation for a loved one. I found Allay on yelp and went with my gut feeling to trust these guys to help our family. My decision was based on recent feedback from other customers who left positive feedback too. I'm not local to the area but I did feel as if I was working side-by-side with someone through this tough process. Lawrence was the person who "walked" me through everything and was there to answer all my questions and calmed my concerns. Updates were given very frequently and responses to questions were answered timely (within minutes/same day). The paperwork....gosh I hate paperwork... But the paperwork was paperless! The document system they used to file paperwork was easy to understand and follow, and of course I was able to keep PDF file copies as well. They were able to accommodate the urn and keepsakes I wanted for family members, I felt they were very organized as some of the keepsake items were shipped from different places. Fees - They were a little pricier than their competitors, but you get what you pay for which is quality, reliable service. I did get a couple of other quotes and others were a little cheaper in price, but one vendor spelled my name wrong, and the other vendor didn't quite understand our needs. Timetable - our loved one passed away on a Wednesday and I got the ashes in the mail 2 weeks and 2 days later. You have to fill out the paperwork promptly as requested so there are no delays on your own end. I've learned that there are pieces to the puzzle so do your part to keep things moving and reply to all messages and emails to keep the flow moving. Because I'm not in the local area, I did pay for shipping. Once everything was completed, I got a notice that items shipped and I got everything in 24 hours (USPS Express). and the urn we purchased through Allay is gorgeous. I posted pictures. Sooo... never thought I'd be doing a Yelp review for a crematorium but here we are in crazy COVID times... So my aunt passed from complications due to COVID during the winter surge (January 2021). I called 15 different funeral services and all of them said they're sorry but they can't help me unless I'm a pre-existing customer. WTF! I was in near panic at that time when I stumbled across Allay Direct on Yelp. I used Yelp's Request Information button that you'll find on this Yelp page and someone responded immediately. Instead of slamming the door in my face, they said they would be happy to accommodate my aunt but there would be a delay to pick up the body given that their cold storage was full. As my aunt was already in cold storage because she passed at the hospital and I was in no particular hurry to cremate, I went with them (yeah, like I had a choice). But Allay Direct turned out to be the best non-decision I made. I primarily spoke with Lawrence, who was extremely professional and communicative. We pretty much communicated via text and email, and all arrangements were made electronically. When all was said and done, they also delivered the ashes and death certificates to my house in the South Bay. And here's where it gets CRAZIER because the next month my other aunt that survived COVID ended up passing from a heart condition! Because she passed at home the sheriffs told me I had to find a place that would take her body immediately (as in the next few hours) because they weren't going to transport her body to the morgue or hospital (who knew?). So here I am in a panic again but this time I called Lawrence without hesitation and made arrangements. Even though he quoted me a 3-hour window for pick-up, someone arrived within two hours, removed the jewelry from my aunt's body and gave it to me, and wrapped up her body and took her away. I can't even begin to express how grateful I am that I stumbled on Allay Direct. I am astonished that other funeral services act like they are doing me a favor when I am the one paying $$$! These other funeral services charge a minimum of twice as much as Allay Direct for a simple cremation and they lack the simple class and courtesy to properly handle customers with a few carefully chosen words. I will never forget how 15 funeral services told me they couldn't help and hung upon me. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH A DEAD BODY??? I am so glad that we went with Lawrence at Allay Direct Cremation. It's hard to describe everything he has done for us, but it was simply ABOVE and BEYOND what I think any other cremation business would have done. Lawrence is incredibly compassionate, understanding, and super competent at what he does. Our case ended up requiring a few more steps and a bit more attention due to some hospital release issues and unclear cause of death requiring a trip to the coroner's office, plus some religious procedures. Lawrence kept me updated pretty much every single day with emails or text messages, I knew what was happening the entire time. He would even update me when there was no update, just so I could have peace of mind. All his advise was spot on about the coroner's turnaround time, etc...he seems to know all the ins and outs of this business. I also loved how all of their forms were done via some kind of electronic signature service vs. having to print/scan/fax, that was a nice touch that made everything easier. I also liked how they were no surprise extra charges, even when I tried to possibly upgrade the urn to wood or metal, he honestly advised how it might not be the best idea when traveling through TSA or air and how the standard plastic urn might be more durable and less questionable. Talk about doing what's right for people, he did this at every step of the entire process. Without a single doubt, I am certain that we picked the right person for this difficult and delicate task.
