The stations always smells of urine and the elevators are outdated. While I am sure they pass inspection yearly, they could still use an upgrade. For one they are way too small. When my son was stroller age, I could barely fit his stroller in the elevator. The wheels were barely able to fit through the elevator doors. Transportation itself is ok as long as the trains are not late or stuck on the track. Perhaps this was the motivation to replace the older the trains for newer ones. While I have seen the implementation of newer trains, all trains have not been replaced. I rode two older trains today that reeked of urine and were a little dirty. I am happy to see that they upgrading the trains however. I hope they keep that same energy and give the metro rail stations a makeover.

The Metrorail comes in here but over the last thirty years as the City of Miami has evolved so has their central station. Years ago it was Government Center and I would connect to the metro mover. Now as Downtown has changed this truly is the main station. I come into here from Miami Airport to get to Downtown. Also it backs up into Brightline which is around the corner literally steps away. Lastly all the City buses come through here around the building there is a place a block up for the buses that go 595, in front of the building is buses going every ten minutes or so to the Golden Glades than a few steps from that at the side entrance to Metrorail is the 95 express buses. This place is literally a pu pu platter for all your transportation needs in and out of the City of Miami. I highly recommend it as parking is getting increasingly harder to find as well as expensive. You can get monthly passes which make it even more affordable if you come here daily as I do. Also across the way is a brand new Einstein's for a quick morning bite. It is very well lite in the area so don't let the name Overtown fool you it seems very safe. So far so good.

It's a rail station built in Florida in the 1980s... so my criticims are based in history, as the…read morestation and rail lines were evidently contemplated to build upon the locational efficiencies next to the freeway (but does have a nice park next door... across yet another surface vehicular parking lot)... but what this means is that this station is disconnected from the more walkable areas of Hollywood and relies more on automotive transporation for the ""last mile"" travvel. The City and County do a good job of having connections (Sun Shuttle, BCT [Broward County Transit]) - but a walk downtow will take a good 30 - 45 min. As to the actual station, there's not enough benches... or trash cans. There's also so much anxiety if the train is coming, if you're on the right platform, the trains don't run late enough, and the transit cops can often be... brusque. But it's such a net positive to have rail options (with signage and audio message in three (3!) languages) in this urban-surburban-car-dominated-megaopolis. I support it fully and want MORE investment in stations like this to make it better.

This is a very nice rail system that runs from West Palm Beach to Miami. It is a diamond in the…read morerough, and I am upset that I did not know about it sooner. My kids and I took the train from Miami Airport to Fort Lauderdale Airport. It cost us $5/ person and was very easy. You have to take a tram at MIA to the Transportation Center to catch the train. It is very easy to find. You just have to follow the signs. I purchased my tickets on the platform via a machine. We had our luggage with us, too, and there were no issues. The train was clean and was pretty wide open. It was also right on schedule, and they had armed security on the train. People bring their bikes on the train and secure them on racks. Once we got to the Fort Lauderdale Airport Station, we had to take a bus to the actual airport. The bus was packed, but it was only like a 5-minute ride. My little and I really enjoyed the ride. As I mentioned, it was a very easy and relaxing ride. It was a very easy and relaxing ride. I will be using this train a lot to get between FLL and MIA from now on.

As a general rule, it costs $5 OW if you travel 3 zones, but on weekends, you can get the full day pass for all 6 zones for a whopping $5. Great deal ! If you are an infrequent user, you can buy a paper ticket at the train station (usually on the platform) using credit card or cash. These commuter trains have two levels and most of them have one car dedicated to placing bicycles, with the appropriate racks inside the car. The Tri-Rail connects Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. The Tri prefix in the name refers to the three counties served by the railroad: Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade. Tri-Rail is managed by the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) along CSX Transportation's former Miami Subdivision, the line is now wholly owned by the Florida DOT. This particular station has connecting bus routes to downtown and connects to the 595 express that takes you all the way to Sunrise in Broward County. Additionally if you are going to Marlins park and you don't want to get stuck in traffic and avoid 20+ dollar parking this is a great solution. You can park your car at any Metro-Rail station and get an all day pass and come to this station and the marlins shuttle (the 55 bus) will take you to and from the Stadium. They have shuttles running from the Stadium to the Culmer Metro-Rail station from prior to the game up to 2 hours after the last pitch. Also pointing out that riding public transportation is great for the enviroment and helps decongest highways. Great work Miami-Dade Transit!
