This morning as my teenagers got ready for school, the news was on the television. They were reporting that Selena Gomez was getting criticized for her Music Awards Performance. Comments were made that she was off-key. She defended her performance by explaining that this was her first performance in 2 years and she was nervous. She has Lupus and has struggled with anxiety. At the same time, I am running around the house trying to get to work and my get house together for Thanksgiving which I host every year. I want everything in place to give my family a nice holiday. On my way to work, I started thinking about what I am thankful for this year. I am always thankful for my family and friends. I am thankful for their love and friendship as well as their health and happiness. This morning as I think about Selena Gomez and food shopping, I realize how grateful I am to be able to go work at Allaire Community Farm. If you haven't been to Allaire Community Farm, you have to go. Spend some time there, enjoy the animals, the garden and the peacefulness of the farm. I have had the privilege of spending my work day there. I don't work for the farm directly, but I get to do my work there. Their mission statement is "nurture through nature and helping people achieve their full potential..." They "support special needs children and adults, at-risk population, families battling cancer, veterans with PTSD and the local community..." When you go to the farm look around, pay close attention and you will see so much more. You will see Sean, JoAnn, and Allison wearing more hats than seems humanly possible. You will see that the farm relies on volunteers to run. Dedicated people who give their time for the farm to succeed and people who truly believe in the farm's mission. You will see contractors and businesses donate their time, money and services. You see school groups, recreation groups and therapeutic riding instructors working with people with special needs. You will see a place that expects you to come as you are and be who you are. There are no "special needs" on the farm. You are welcomed, accepted and supported to meet your potential despite your abilities, background or life choices. In a world where people are quick to criticize people struggling and appearance is valued, it is refreshing and humbling to see how the farm brings people together and best out in everyone. This is the type of place and the values, I want for my children. I got there by chance and very happy that I did. If you have some time, stop by to visit and see what I mean. read more

I love this farm. It's quick to the point you get everything that you're going there for the people are super friendly. The little animals that they have are so many and so close that you can actually enjoy them. You can enjoy the little tractor ride. It's more than enough, especially if you have toddlers. read more

I am hesitant to write the following review as the staff was very friendly and nice. However, I do feel compelled to share my experience if it may help others. It is a cute farm however you cannot touch and or feel almost all of the animals, they are behind cages. Other farms that I frequented for much more interaction. Came for Chol Moed trip and my older boys were extremely bored. If you are coming to pick pumpkins or to stroll around the farm, it is very clean and a nice environment, but if you are coming to entertain kids over the age of seven, it may prove to be difficult. I would wish if they would offer horse rides or a more interactive petting zoo . Again, no complaints about the staff or facilities just a slightly boring experience for our family . read more

great time at a kid's birthday party here. They probably have like 3 parties a day here so they know what they are doing! Starts with pony ride, then "hay" ride around the pasture, then stop to feed some animals including lily the biggest pig i've ever seen. Then you can grab a chicken egg if you want. Nice farm with a few caveats. I decided to take my kids here on a nice afternoon. The three dollars a kid for the petting zoo is very reasonable. The petting zoo is small but there are horses, a pig, ducks, chickens, goats, donkeys and alpacas. The farm is run by volunteers. We were lucky enough to be taken under the wing of a very young volunteer (maybe 10 years old). He decided to show us around each animal pen and tell us about all of the animals. I noticed others were left on their own to just wander around the animal enclosures with no knowledge of the animals. He let my kids hold the chickens, brush the donkey and help him feed the goats some hay. The animals here are mostly rescued. This means many are skittish and not comfortable being around small children. Some parents were sending their young children in without any supervision. We were told the 500+ lb pig had recently bit the finger off a volunteer. There were no signs warning to stay away. There were also no signs on any of the enclosures giving you any important information about the animals. I'm very thankful the young volunteer decided to show us around. If you do happen to come here and are on your own be very careful around the animals and watch your children. I feel like these animals are more likely to bite or kick than at a true petting zoo. I think the volunteers do a wonderful job taking care of the animals and farm but this isn't your typical petting zoo. read more

Nice little farm that offers many activities. We came for a party and took a long adventure on a scenic wagon ride. We engaged with the farm animals, which included feeding and grooming. We gathered organic colorful eggs in the hen house. We were educated on egg health and nutrition. Did you know that a darker orange egg yolk belonged to a healthier pasture-raised hen egg? The children learned valuable milking skills by milking a mechanical cow. There were no casualties. We also met a 900 pound delightful pig. The volunteers were friendly and engaging. Perhaps nice for a visit but do not book a party here. While i appreciate the mission of helping animals (which is why I didn't request a refund), this place is very poorly run and it is filthy. My daughter's birthday here was a disaster. read more

This is by far my favorite place to take the kids. It is run by volunteers who love what they do and care for the animals that are there. Each animal has a story and obviously a happy ending to a rough beginning. The kids here are knowledgeable and make this farm so much fun..I love this place. My favorite animal there was the turkey. She looked like a mess and some kids were hesitant to go near her but she was so friendly all she wanted was attention! Sweet gentle soul in spite of her beginnings I feel blessed to have met her..She's actually velvety !! If you have little ones and you love animals this is a great little place to go. I stumbled across Allaire community farm sometime ago...although they were closed to the public, Sean was there working of course. He stopped to introduce himself and offered to give me and my boys a hayride..they jumped on and he told us about the vision of the farm. I really never forgot about it. About a year later,I ended up back there doing an event with them and I just love it. Sean and JoAnn are the most genuine and kind people along with their kids. What they do, that they are most humble about, is truly amazing!! I was very excited to go with my family to this farm but from the minute we walked in I was not impressed. When we walked in the store no one offered help and we have never been so we didn't know what to expect. We were walking over to the animals when we saw 2 tractors with kids playing in them so my husband took our one year old into one and a man came over yelling saying let me have your keys and let kids go play in your car. Now never being there we had no idea that you were not aloud to play that's first off but to be spoken to like dirt was extremely rude! I will never come here again read more

I went there with my mom, aunt and baby cousin today for a little fun time. When we arrived it looked great. Everyone was nice and had a great attitude. We started off with the goats, which all seemed healthy and fine! But when we got to the back with a pig, an alpaca, chickens, sheeps, goats, and a donkey, everything looked wrong. Their buckets did NOT have water and really badly needed to be changed. Only two small hay bales where given to the animals, that was not enough to feed all of them. The alpaca was being EATEN ALIVE by flies! They were nesting in it's cuts and scars. The pig had something wrong with its right leg. When we told the people about it we got attacked by one of the workers. The main lady had to come apologise and even though she "explained" to us what was going on, it still didn't make any sense. If the alpaca has infection, keep him INSIDE from the flies so he doesn't get any more diseases or infections. Apparently we were the first ones to figure out something wrong with the pig. Then the girl who attacked us said that she was hurt this morning? So which one is it? And even if we were the first ones to find out, they should've found out first. Her pen is FILLED with branches. She's over 900 pounds and blind. "Most people would put her down." Yeah, they'd put her down for a reason. That pig is in pain. Branches are EVERYWHERE in her pen, apparently she dug them up. But she's blind? So how and why would she do that? They should remove the branches so it makes it easier for her to move around. My mom, aunt, and me all left CRYING. I was going to volunteer but I changed my mind. read more

This is a special place near the Jersey Shore. If you are looking to connect with friendly animals and people this is a great place. Joann and Sean have created a haven for rescued animals and in turn these animals have helped some special people. I was looking to find a place to volunteer with animals after the passing of my dog. I heard about Allaire Community Farm and that might fit what I was looking for. The farm has community as its first focus. They help with organic groceries to help families plagued with cancer, help teens at risk and children with special needs. It's so nice to see the community helping each other. I really enjoy my time there and look forward to feeding and socializing with the animals. Definitely worth a trip with the kids to visit or book a party. We stopped by this place the other day to check out the petting zoo. My (two year old) daughter couldn't have been happier! Seeing how excited she was to see and touch all the animals was incredible. We were welcomed right away by the people there. We are so happy to have discovered this little hidden gem. We will definitely be coming back regularly. They even have farm fresh eggs for sale! This is one of my favorite places on earth . I enjoy just walking the farm and volunteering with helping to take care of the many animals they have rescued . If your looking for a place to unwind or visit and receive unconditional love , this the place . It is the most hands on experience your children will have on a farm .
