Really great experience we fed and walked the alpacas ! They are super cute and friendly and the staff is very pleasant and knowledgeable! Overall an excellent experience !!
3/16/24 Visit: Bluebird Farm is the place to be. Alpaca Farm living is the life for me. Land spreading out so far and wide. Keep Manhattan, just give me that Alpaca countryside. The owner Nick gave a nice overall chat on the history of alpacas. Great time feeding and walking the alpacas. Most of them are very sweet. Even the alpaca, "Candyapple" was very sweet. He was actually in a "time out" area. Guess everyone has their days. LOL... Assistants Olivia and Martina went around to everyone to show how to hold the alpaca's harness leash and proceed with them. I was given an older dominant male alpaca named Silver Hawk. He was a "bit on the slow side." After I fed him, he suddenly got some "pep in his step." The staffers told everyone that Silver Hawk is in a love triangle with two other female alpacas Merida and Princess Nazca. LOL... Bluebird Farm is a fun place for all ages. Alpaca timed tours are available on weekends only by online reservation. A small feed bag is given with each admission. Types of admissions: 1. Farm Tour Ticket $14. 2. Farm Tour Ticket + Alpaca Walk $24. 3. Accompany an Alpaca walker $18. During your visit, lots of time for photo ops with the alpacas. There's a gift shop with lots of cool alpaca items. Everything went wonderful had a great time the staff were awesome they know their alpacas. The workers are really friendly and the rest of the staff the alpacas are well taken care of. Its a wonderful experience for the family you can also walk with the alpacas but you must reserve
Family really enjoyed their time here. We booked the apalca walk (2 tickets for walking, and 2 for accompanying). Be sure to book in advance, because they do sell out. Fortunately everyone in our group showed up on time so we started right on time. I believe if you are late you will likely miss some as they really have a constant cycle of tours. The entry comes with a fairly large bag of food for the apalcas, which I really appreciated. Apparently the alpacas can get full/ tired later in the day, so better come early if you really want to feed them. The friendly staff first explained about the apalcas, and later we got to hang out with them, take pics, feed them, etc. The staff were really good about helping take pics, which was great. The walk itself is fairly quick and easy... maybe approx 20min. Kids loved it, and again there are a few photo opportunities.
My boyfriend and I found this spot on Google because I had a hard week and needed some time away from the city. We randomly thought of alpacas! Booking online is easy and for the experience I would say the price is reasonable. Only an hour away and change from the city. Perfect date!You can either book the petting experience or petting and walking the alpacas. We got the walking tickets. When we checked in we received a grain bag each. There are at least three pens. They have a quite a turn out (we went on the weekend)- they separated our group into two, but each group got to see alpacas in both pens. They switch you up after about 15mins. For an introduction, the staff explained the difference between llamas and alpacas, told us some background on the farm and the animals then showed us how to pet the animals.For the walking experience they used alpacas from the third pen. They were specially trained to walk with people. We got one named sunshine! The route was quite long. We walked around the farm for 30mins and had two special stops to take pictures.Overall it was an amazing experience even as an adult. After the experience you had a chance to shop in the gift shop! I really love gift shops so I was in heaven. They have garments made from alpaca fur and even mini fluffy alpacas.I WILL BE COMING BACK! I heard they also offer yoga so I'll definitely take some girlfriends to join me!!
Such a fun experience! The alpacas were so kind and gentle. You can sign up to walk with the alpacas! We got to walk them and feed them! There's about 21 alpacas on the farm.
Such a wonderful experience. My family and I did the tour and alpaca walk. There was great educational talk followed by a meet and greet in two different spots. We all were given a bag of feed to the alpaca, which they loved. The walk was amazing, about 15 or 20 min, with a few stops for pictures. The alpaca all had amazing personalities and were all beautiful and well cared for. Price was great for how long and involved the experience was. Highly recommended!
My boyfriend decided to surprise me with a date to Bluebird Farm to see alpacas! We arrived a little late to our reservation, so we missed a part of the intro by (who I assume) is the Owner of the farm. He explained basic facts of alpacas, such as where they are commonly found, the differences between it and llamas, and some of its traits. There are two sections that the larger group got split into and we got an opportunity to meet, pet, and feed all the alpacas they had. All the workers were extremely nice and they thought us the alpaca's names and what they liked and didn't liked. They also helped us take photos as well. By far the best experience was being able to pet the alpacas. Be aware, not all alpacas like to be pet, but the ones that allowed you too were super soft, especially the baby alpacas! When you are done meeting all the alpacas there is also a gift store that sells products made with real alpaca wool (both from this farm and other farms). I myself bought an alpaca doll, a pair of wool socks and a keychain. Visiting this farm and meeting all the alpacas was truly an amazing experience. I highly recommend traveling out and making a visit of your own!
Did you know that New Jersey is known as the hub for alpaca farms? Yes, there are 10 in the Garden State where my partner and I visited one, only 1 hour from NYC. Located among rolling hills and acres of farmland in Peapack, this establishment encourages you to visit, meet the herd, take pictures, and possibly adopt one of the gentle creatures. Alpacas are gentle-hearted, soft, cozy animals from the camelid family, including llamas and camels. These cozy creatures live between 18 and 24 years of age and come in 22 natural colors. Reservations were easily made on the same day via their website for 1:55 p.m., beginning at $14 per person. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owner, Nick, and we were able to take in the earlier tour. He spoke about the history of the beautiful animal. The staff were so friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The regular ticket package comes with bags of treats for the alpacas. All ages will enjoy the experience. Those who know me know I'm from the city and wouldn't pet anything bigger than a rabbit. The proofs are in the pictures! The farm is gorgeous and well kept. We would like to do a repeat performance with the halter training or walk, which we can recommend.

I found this place from TikTok. If you're near the red part of NJ, have a couple hours, and $22 bucks. I recommend spending time here and pet some alpacas. Staff is really nice. You also get a small bag of feed to give them Gift shop has a lot of things made from their hair.
This is hands down the best fall activity to do in New Jersey. The owner is very friendly and provided great details about Alpacas. He also chatted with us while waiting for others in the group to arrive. Very accommodating and warm. The Alpacas are so fun to be around and they just eat whatever grains you give them. They are very soft and friendly when they are in the mood. I highly recommend buying the "walk an alpaca" ticket because the experience is just out of this world.

On Saturday I took my parents to Bluebird Farm Alpacas. I booked the time slot about a week in advance although it seemed like we could have arrived without a reservation. I am not sure how many they allow per group. The property is beautiful and clean and the alpacas are clearly well cared for. At the beginning, one of the employees gave an interesting ten minute lesson on alpacas, the difference between them and llamas, and some other random facts and safety tips. We then got to visit two different pens and interact with the llamas. Included in your fee is a small bag of their food which went a long way. The alpacas all had different personalities but they were all friendly. We really enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend checking them out! read more

I've been wanting to do this for YEARS. I finally did it and this was so worth it. I was able to hang out with with alpacas as well as feed and pet the alpacas and walking with the alpacas (which is what I was most excited for). The whole experience was an hour. The walking portion was maybe 20 minutes and they are just so sweet. The staff was super friendly as well and had a lot of knowledge (also took some great photos for me!). I would definitely recommend if you love animals! read more

What an amazing and unique experience! The tour starts off with some fun facts, then goes into feeding/petting. If you buy the walking tickets, you get to walk alongside the alpacas and feed them. I highly recommend paying extra for the walking! The staff is genuinely so friendly and so knowledgeable. Pro tip: the alpacas are more active in the morning because they're waiting for guests to feed them. By the afternoon they're pretty tuckered out from all the feeding. So if you're scared to feed them, the staff suggested booking afternoon tickets. Definitely a great and unique experience! read more

Been wanting to visit this place for a while now and glad we came! Reservations required and they go fast esp in the summer. When I saw there were openings for a beautiful and warm fall weekend, I snatched the tickets quickly. Very scenic and nice area. The tour is about an hour and it was more than enough to learn some quick facts about alpaca and to pet and feed them. They were so cute and friendly. The gift shop has some cute items made from Alpaca fur. Overall highly recommended for animal lovers and kids! read more

I came here around august and it was such a fun experience! The drive isn't that far from nyc and you have to check their website to look for reservation dates and times because they are only open for certain seasons. There's also a ticket for just the feeding experience and the halter training one which is what I did. You get to learn about alpacas, look at them, pet them, and feed them! Super cute and if you're lucky you will get to see them rolling in the sand or their potty time! They also have a gift shop where you can purchase products made from them! For the halter experience after all that fun time you get to walk your own alpaca and take photos! read more
Wow! For an animal lover like me, bluebird alpalca farm has shot up on the top of my "favorite things to do in Central NJ" list. Alpaca is the smaller cousin to the recently popular llama species. Also from south america, they live to be 20 years and are more docile (aka less likely to spit at you). They are PERFECT for petting and feeding, even for my timid 2 year old. After a quick introduction, you'll split your time between 2 pens with about half dozen pacas each. The caretakers will tell you about each animal and answer any questions you might have. They'll gobble up your complimentary feed bag quickly and seem totally OK with lots of pets and selfies. They are very soft and chill. Its easy to book online and parking is sufficient. There's also a small store on your way out selling clothing accessories, or more feed. A fantastic 1 hr mini adventure =) read more

Love love love this place. Learned so much today about Alpacas. They are so freaking cute. We did the feed and pet. We got so close andngot to take selfies haha. They do offer to take pictures for you. I liked the stories they told about the current alpacas there. The gift shop is so cute too. Items made by their fur and tagged with the name of the alpaca haha. Worth going! Mayne we will walk them next time! read more
Highly recommend Bluebird Farm as a great weekend activity whether you have kids or not. You get to pet, hug, & feed alpacas freely, and even walk one, if you opt for that option. After researching different farms in Hudson Valley, Long Island & NJ, we picked Bluebird Farm because of the access they allow to their alpacas, the option for an alpaca walk, their reasonable prices, & it's about 60-90 minutes from Manhattan depending on traffic. I definitely wanted to go when the alpacas were still fluffy, before they were sheared for the warm weather. We also picked a morning time slot when the alpacas aren't as full after reading another Yelper's review. I went with a small group of friends at the end of April, and we were blessed by Mother Nature with perfect sunny, spring weather. We opted for the Halter Training Combo, which includes a farm tour, a walk with an alpaca using a halter, & a small bag of feed. That's right, you get to walk an alpaca on your own! The farm tour is really just spending time with alpacas in the pens, which is just fine w/ me because the alpacas are what we came for. After spending time w/ alpacas in the pens, we went on our walk. The walk is not a long distance (so easy walk for most), and we stopped a couple of times along the way for photos. We were just happy to spend time with an individual alpaca! The total experience for the tour & walk is an hour long. If you don't want to opt for the walk, there is the option for just the farm tour which also lasts an hour and includes a bag of feed. Additional bags of feed are available at the shop for $1. I think that all the alpacas have good temperaments around humans. Loved seeing how they have their own personalities. Some prefer not to be touched, some can be a tad stubborn, and most definitely like to be fed. There was also a cria (baby/young alpaca), and another one has been born since our visit. The farm staff are really nice too! Nick was really kind and kicked off the visit with a short overview about alpacas and staff explain what NOT to do to keep ourselves & the alpacas safe. They are also friendly in offering to take photos for you. The gift shop has a nice selection of accessories & stuffed animals made from alpaca fiber. They also have pompoms made with fiber from specific alpacas on the farm. I took home a mini felted alpaca as a souvenir. Bucket list item checked off! I would definitely love to go back! Things to know: - Only open on weekends to visitors - Advance ticket purchase/reservation required. The halter walk option sells out weeks in advance, especially in warm weather. - No refunds or exchanges & the farm is open rain or shine. - Visitor restroom is a port-o-potty. Do not hold anything valuable in your hands. A girl dropped her phone in the toilet as soon as she stepped in (and tried to fish it out herself [insert gag reflex]). - No pets allowed since it can make the alpacas understandably nervous. - Alpacas are not llamas! read more

Every since we heard about this place, my friends and I have been wanting to go so bad!! However they get sold out so fast. We finally found an open slot that worked for everyone's schedule and we went! The workers were so knowledgeable about each of the alpacas personalities and where they came from. Our group did the farm tour and halter training for $20 a person. It was definitely worth the price. You get to walk an alpaca and take super cute photos. We definitely want to come back again! Tip: buy extra grain bags! You will definitely need them. read more
We went to Bluebird for my wife's birthday and can't say enough good things about the farm, the staff and the experience! A lot of the other reviews cover the services they offer in detail so won't be redundant but highly recommend the tour & halter training as you each get to walk an alpaca and spend time out in the fields with them. As others have mentioned, each alpaca has a unique personality and they are genuinely curious and funny animals. Very docile and comfortable to be around, even for those who aren't as familiar with farm animals. Most of them will let you softly pet their backs and most will eat feed right out of your hand. The entire staff was amazing. The overview is very educational and we learned a lot about alpacas we didn't know previously. If you book the tour (recommended) you can go into the pens and mingle w/ the alpacas. Again, alpacas are very docile but cautious so as long as you're nice and calm and allow them to see you, you can simply walk up beside them and interact; most will allow you to softly pet their backs. We were there in late April, 1 week before the sheering so we got to see them in all their glorious fluffiness. Their fiber/fur is so soft and the finished product (all kinds of neat examples avail in gift shop) is softer than cashmere. We were there an hour between the tour and the halter training and could have stayed longer as the staff was very accommodating. The farm is gorgeous and well kept. Facilities are very clean and everyone is so friendly and gracious. Highly recommend! read more

Highly recommend this place. It was the perfect activity for us during some down time we had while staying in the area. All the staff are super friendly, we especially liked Nick who gave the little "tour" at the beginning (basically a speech with a bunch of fun info about alpacas). The alpacas are all so fun. They truly do have different personalities, some will take selfies with you, others will run the other way. It's definitely an experience! The gift shop was also cool, I like how all the products come from the local alpacas on the farm. It's a bit pricey though. Will definitely come again if we're in town. Buy tickets online in advance, we weren't able to do the walking tour because it was sold out, but the basic farm visit was more than enough fun by itself. read more

I love love loveee this place. The staff were very friendly, welcoming, attentive, and helpful. They offered to take photos for my family and were informative on their presentation. The alpacas were so adorable and derpy looking and were really gentle. I got the rare chance to pet a baby alpaca before it got its first shave! One alpaca did spit on my mom and it was a moment to remember! Wish I could take 3 home with me. read more

I've been wanting to visit this farm for the longest of times but scoring a reservation is tough especially since they have limited spots on the weekends! It's around an hour drive from NYC but well worth the trip. My boyfriend scored a 2:55pm slot on Saturday for meet & greet as well as halter training. We got there a bit early so we could check out the gift shop. They have a variety of items including accessories, very soft stuffed animals, and many more. I purchased a soft alpaca key and a felted alpaca as mementos. All of the staff here were knowledgeable, friendly and very welcoming. We were given 2 bags of grains included with admission to feed the alpacas, if you want more its $1 per bag. The hour starts with a short talk about the difference between alpacas vs llamas, color variations, geography and some fun facts! The alpaca interaction was very cool because they had so many personalities but they were all friendly. There was even a small baby that I was able to pet! Halter training was very fun, I got the pleasure of walking Merida who was the spiciest and was trotting away. My boyfriend got Silver Hawk who had a mullet and was the definition of teenage angst. Honestly the backdrop was perfect and made me feel like I was frolicking in the meadow with my alpaca buddy. I would definitely come back here with my friends because I had so much fun!! read more
I am so happy I found this place. I had such a great experience here with the alpacas. I felt like a little girl squealing at the sight of them and trying to pet each one. They have grains for you to feed them, and it's only $1 extra if you want more. The tour guides introduced each alpaca to us; their names, personality, and how to approach them, which was very helpful. We were broken up into small groups and the family I was with had paid extra for other activities. My boyfriend and I were left alone with 6 alpacas all to ourselves. Haha. We hanged around, took a bunch of photos with the cute fluffy animals, and did some more petting. We were lucky to see the alpacas' fur at their fullest as they were getting sheared the next day. Also, check out their little souvenir shop, where many of the products are made from the alpacas' fur. I had a lot of fun and would love to visit again. read more

To me, this must be the happiest place in New Jersey. We drove an hour from NYC to Bluebird Farm Alpacas this past weekend with Halter Tour tickets ($20). Had so much fun again that I wanted to go back again next month before they close on December 27th for winter, but their halter tours are SOLD OUT for the rest of 2020. Only a few Farm Tours left. I'm definitely going back when they reopen in March or April. Here's what I discovered on my 2nd visit to Bluebird Farm Alpacas: 1. Book the Halter Tour (a great deal!) at the earliest time slot possible (9:55am). There's less people first thing in the morning and the alpacas will cluster around you. The Halter Tour allows you to go into the two pens one after another to feed and pet the alpaca, then go to another pen, learn how to lead them and then walk your alpaca out into the field. 2. It you booked the halter tour, try to be one of the last in line to get your alpaca so when you're walking along the path and taking selfie's it will look like it's just you holding onto your furry friend in the field, nobody else behind you. 3. Buy at least 2 bags of grain per person - these alpaca are hungry in the morning! 4. Don't stand behind Pancho, he's very gassy. 5. Don't drink too much liquids, there's no bathroom onsite, only a tiny porta-potty. read more
