Really good coffee and like the only place in town that doesn't give you the evil eye for asking if there's coffee flavors.

Run, Don't walk from this rental…read more I am completely mortified by my experience renting this property from Kimberly. My wife and I rented it for our wedding. The entire process up to the wedding, and after, was very painful. She kept our deposit in full, claiming damages that were pre-existing. Our wedding planner, who also was our caterer, said that she was one of the most difficult people that he had ever worked with. Lets start from the beginning. Kimberly makes major demands while being completely unresponsive. We had to reschedule meetings over and over because of her, each time she only would only provide narrow windows where she was available. When I took a day off of work to do an onsite inspection with the florist and caterer, she did not even show up. She was the one that demanded the meeting. Here is where the nightmare begins. Kimberly was adamant that we get extra "cancellation" insurance for the event. We did not know why we needed it but we politely refused as our caterer/planner had great insurance. The day of our wedding the neighbor came over and said that our event was illegal and he planned to have it shut down. He said that it was Saugerties city ordinance that all rentals in town need to be for a week minimum and that we did not have a permit for an outdoor event as required. So Kimberly rented us the house for an event that was not allowed by the city of Saugerties unless you have a permit. No mention was made of this, but cancellation insurance was pushed on us hard. The neighbor had expressed that had had continued problems with Kimberly. The weekend was a rainy one and it is a country property. It was very hard to keep the floors clean and there were no door mats, only a tattered vintage rug which we pulled up and stored. There was no place for the wedding party to wipe their feet as they came in and out -- all others were kept out of the house. At the end of the weekend we took extra care to clean the house and floors. We spend 6 hours as a team to assure that the house was back to its original state using Pinesol and Myers floor cleaner (provided in the cleaning closet). When we asked the housecleaner what we should do with the extra food on checkout she said "Kimberly does not like any evidence that anyone has been on the property" so she threw the food out. I knew that I was in trouble at that point as KImberly has a maniacal sense of cleanliness. We paid an exorbitant rental rate and a huge event fee. Here is her list of charges she wanted to deduct from our deposit sent by her. Cleaning and waxing of floors $953.26 Porch floor staining/sanding $1200.00 Missing bowl $200.00 New rug $611.19 Cleaning $500-$285 $215.00 Firewood $50.00 TOTAL $3229.45 Kimberly had said that we had left circular scratch marks on the floors indoors and left the floors in a terrible state. I noticed the circular scratches when I arrived and asked the housecleaner about them. They were in various parts of the house and deck and they looked like someone had twisted a large potted plant to the floors leaving circular scratches. The housecleaner said that they had been there for a while. Kimberly also said that the Myers floor cleaner we used, from under the sink, had dulled the floors. I reminded her that it was a very wet weekend and that there were no floor mats and that the wedding party had no choice but to track in some dirt from outside. The driveway is made of a fine grey gravel and that brought a lot of silt into the house. She also accused us of having brought the wedding party into the house once the music was stopped, and had a rave in her basement. She said a neighbor knew one of our guests and told her. When I asked her to corroborate the story with the name of my guest or the neighbor she could not produce any details. Kimberly also told me that all people that came and went should have used the mud room in the back of the house. Can you believe that she expected all of the wedding party and event planners and vendors to all use the mudroom and remove their shoes!. So Kimberly FABRICATED this circular scratch damage and threatened to have us pay to refinishing all the floors. She said that the floors on the porch were damaged and soiled. When I pointed out that we were allowed to use the porch for the wedding and that it was a rainy weekend, she had no good answer. Kimberly also charged us for a bowl that had gone missing. She kept pressing this point until I told her that I knew that she found the bowl. She then immediately said that she had found the bowl. So she was charging me for a bowl that she had found -- not really good by any measure. I would run from this rental.

A group of us went for the fireworks, that were supposed to be from Saugerties, NY. We arrived midday; to see the re-enactments and enjoy the great weather. There was an ice cream truck and a food truck. They Always had a line. By the time dusk was approaching the crowds started to fill the great lawns facing the Hudson and the city of Saugerties. By 9:15 pm there were a few sporadic flares from the West Bank of the Hudson. By almost 10 pm it was pretty obvious there would not be a fireworks display that night. We've seen plenty of fireworks displays, so for us was NBD. Felt kind of bad for the young families whose kids were probably disappointed.

The gardens were nice and also well maintained, but not fancy - some signs as to the varieties of flowers and plants would be nice. There's several places to the south of the house offering scenic views of the Hudson River, and the Catskills beyond that. Mansion tours were going on while I was there. A sign at the entrance says that paid parking for 2020 began on 6/6, where you pay the fee of $5 at one of the machines at either end of the parking lot. Unfortunately, it's not $5, it's $6 now. Rest rooms are available behind the parking lot, and there's a fairly large area behind it and to the south for sitting, picnics, and light recreation (e.g., folks were throwing frisbees). Dogs are permitted on a leash. Even on a nice day on a weekend, there's plenty of space for everyone. Though I imagine this is a very popular site to visit during fall foliage season.

It's all such a whirlwind of activity. And the logistics at our farm were challenging, to say the least. I also greatly appreciated how, during the actual wedding and party afterward, Sandra and her assistant were there, in the background, keeping the caterer happy, moving tables, shuttling slightly inebriated guests to their cars, (thank you, especially for that. I think I would still find people walking the horse pasture fence, looking for their cars.) And for doing the behind-the-scenes things that rarely are noticed, unless they're not done. (For example, one of the porta potties malfunctioning). Sandra handled that with quiet speed. And mostly I appreciated how she took care of Amanda's mother's doilies, the family mementoes, tucking things away in the pool house for safe keeping. And for a good, general tidying up at the end of the night.

If you don't get to the end of this review and only read one thing: Hiring Sandra was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. She is beyond dedicated to giving you the wedding of your dreams, and her ability to execute and make it ALL happen is nothing short of extraordinary. Every wedding needs a Sandra! We had the pleasure of working with Sandra from the beginning of our wedding planning journey all the way through our 3 day wedding weekend. When we were stumped looking for venues that could accommodate our large guest list AND a weekend-long celebration. Sandra approached us with a "think outside the box" venue: Timber Lake Camp, a beautifully serene summer camp nestled in the Catskills. We were unsure about the idea of a summer camp wedding but trusted her instinct - and thankfully we did. The day we visited the camp we knew it was PERFECT. 500 gorgeous acres with plenty of room to accommodate ALL of our guests, that we could have all to ourselves for an entire weekend - camp cabins, facilities, staff, and all! It truly felt like she had pulled a rabbit out of a hat and that was only the start of Sandra's magic! Throughout the entire year and a half long planning process, Sandra lent us her ear and expertise: she listened to our wishes, concerns, thoughts; guided us through a million different decisions; provided alternative options/ideas to meet our budget; and found the perfect vendors to bring our vision to life. She sat in on our calls with the coordinator at the camp, and even made visits to the camp with us - including one visit during a snowstorm! She also managed our multitude of vendors (including 3 separate caterers!) from the initial inquiries all the way through to the end of packing up after the wedding. When the wedding weekend came around, Sandra stayed on site all 3 days and made every event run smoothly - we felt like she was somehow everywhere all at once! We had multiple events, including our rehearsal, a Welcome BBQ, Karaoke Night, late night bonfire, and activities throughout the camp. If there were any hiccups, we didn't know about them! The day of the wedding, between everything she was coordinating and the multiple vendors on-site, she somehow still found time to check in with us to make sure we were okay. But honestly we truly felt at ease with Sandra running the show. Her professionalism, calmness, and get-it-done attitude made every part of the weeknd run seamlessly! And on top of it all, she made our marriage official by signing our marriage license. :) A total bonus that she is ordained and a special memory to share with her as she was such a big part of our special day! Our guests are still talking about how magical the weekend was. Many specifically commented that even with so many events and activities going on, it was one the most well-coordinated and organized weddings they'd attended. It was definitely a huge effort to pull off a 3 day wedding weekend on a 500 acre camp, but teamwork truly made this dream work! We could not be more grateful to Sandra, her team, and all of our amazing vendors for giving us a wedding better than we could have ever imagined! We can't recommend Sandra and HVC enough.
