When I find a stylist that can cut my hair correctly, I will travel however far to get my hair done. I found Kim, who originally worked at Supercuts and have followed her faithfully to her new salon. It takes a lot to cut my hair and I am very picky. You would think it would be easy to cut my hair, but most places tend to either make me look like I belong in the Marines or my hair was cut with a weedwacker. I went to this salon for the first time Friday afternoon on 8/23/13. I was looking for a salon close to my house and yelped which place is good and found this place. It's off of the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and Sugarloaf Pkwy. Kim (Asian) is the owner and she was the only one there when I went. I was one of the two customers. She is very friendly and patient. For $20 she shampooed my hair, gave me haircut, and blowdried my hair. She took her time. I liked her and I think $20 is reasonable and good value for wash, cut, blowdry. The other customer was a male who asked for buzz cut. She did great job on his hair as well; he was happy after the cut. I called in and made an appt, and ended up being 15 mins late, so I called to let her know (Kim) and she said "I am working on someone right now... It will be another 40 minutes" so I told her okay, so I'll wait and come in 20 minutes... That way, I can just wait 20 mins instead of 40. I'm a busy person, I don't have time to wait 40 minutes... There's a lotta things you could get done in 40 minutes! Anyway...: She said "no you need to come now, because if someone else walk in, I have to do them before you" wtf? So what's the point of taking appointments when you clearly take walkins even if I have an appointment? Makes no sense that I make an appointment but I still have to wait after someone who doesn't have an appointment??? ÇAnyways, I understand how it is having a business and being the only stylist working there... So I decided to come anyways.... So I walk in... And she looks at me. She doesn't say a word. No welcome. No hi. No nothing.... Just a blank and rude stare if you ask me. I then told her I had called in earlier... And she said ok. That's it. Ok. And went back to cutting his hair. She didn't even ask me to have a seat or give her a few minutes? Anything? I wasn't happy about that, she couldn't even smile. So I sat down.... Thought about it.... Do I really want this grumpy old lady to touch my hair? What is it with these people these days? Everyone forgot what good customer service is and always got that face on like they hate their job. I've been meaning to write a review on this place since I first visited over a year ago. Miss Kim does an amazing job. I first came to her for a "Dominican Blow Out" though that's not what I received I was satisfied with my service. She washed my hair thoroughly, gave me a protein treatment, blow dried and flat ironed my hair. I've always been picky about who cuts my hair but after visiting on another occasion and watching her do a dry cut on another woman I was convinced she could do the job. I asked for a 90 degree hair cut, no more than and inch off, and she did exactly that. Since then I've been a returning customer. Miss Kim is the only person in the state of GA that I will allow to cut my hair. She also gave me my first dye and bleach which I fell in love with. I've never put color in my hair before and my hair was not damaged as a result giving her even more kudos from me. After a home relaxer gone wrong she even cut my hair down into a cute short style that I wore until I was comfortable trimming the remaining relaxed ends off. If you call before noon you can usually snag an appointment the same day. Not bad with walking in either. I only ever had to wait once and even then she did a good job of juggling me and the other gentlemen. We were both satisfied and from what I have observed, most of her customers are loyal. read more

$15 dollars for 15 minutes! I totally jacked up my hair trying to cut it on my own. After reading several reviews and seeing how high Kim was rated, I decided to give her a chance. I was able to get in a same day appointment at 4:00 PM. She finished my hair in less than 15 mts and charged $15.... can't beat the efficiency or the price. I can't even believe that she looked at the photo I gave her and came as close to the cut as she could after the bang up job I did. Thanks Kim! You're a lifesaver. I am very impressed with Kim's skills and efficiency! Note that I didn't use a word "fast" because sometimes fast service does not include the quality of work. Kim knows what she is doing and can deliver the service very efficiently. I got my hair cut and also eyebrows waxed. Kim is simply the best! She recently cut my hair based on a few Pinterest photos I showed her and her $15 haircut rivaled any $80 haircut I've paid for in the past. She knows what she is doing and is super attentive to make sure you like how the cut is progressing along the way. I got a lovely cut, exactly what I wanted. Kim asked lots if questions to ensure I was getting the right cut and told me how to style it to make sure my bangs didn't separate. Kim is the best in town despite some people complaints. I would recommend anyone who need the hair done the right way. She would take her time to get it right the first time. Make sure give your enough times and go get your haircut during the week dont wait until weekend. Because weekend is always busy for any salon shop. Look at some of the hair salons such as Great Clips, Fantastic Same and SuperCut used to be along Sugarloaf Parkway. Now, all of them had gone out of business. Kim used to work for them and her clientels follow her. So if you go on the weekend, you expect some waiting times. And yet, enjoy your free wifi while waiting. read more

Out of my 30 years of living, I've only had my hair above my middle back for about 3 years. I went into the salon scared about how Kim would do, but with all the great reviews about her, I put my trust in her experience. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, she took a gander, then off she went. No!!! If I had not said something I would have again ended with a dreadful man cut (gotten at a different salon) that took 6 months to grow out. This is seriously the 1st haircut since that time. And she was putting me right back in that hell. Luckily I did tell her she was going waaaaaaay too short before it was a complete and total disaster. She tried to argue that in the picture it was even shorter than what she was cutting. Nope, definitely not. And I would know because it was an old picture of me from last year with the haircut that I actually liked having and would have liked to have again. So I know positively the length because it's me!! The cut I received today is definitely shorter and thinner than I wanted. In fact, it's way, way, way too short. But I did barely escape the man cut...but just barely so. (Why do stylists use thinning shears on hair that's thin?? Makes NO sense!!!!! I think they just get into a mindset of how they should cut the style and grab the tools they always use rather than taking into consideration the texture and volume of a client's hair). If I had not spoken up and rescued myself this would have been a 1 star review that begged to be a 0 star review. My experience could have been a 2 star review had the stylist's been more personable even with her mistake. Let's face it, a warm personality encourages a forgiving heart. I guess I should be grateful on some level that she stopped cutting it so short after I said something. It's kind of remarkable she didn't ask me anything before I said something because after her first cut of a huge lock of hair my face just fell into depression. And as the sides and back of my hair was mutilated I started sighing and groaning. But she kept on cutting. Most stylists would stop and ask their client if the cut is going the way they liked but she kept going. I cannot give her the excuse that she was busy because we were the only clients in there. So paing attention to the one and only client in the shop should have been easy. Then when she started to cut the top I could see she was going to leave me with 2- 3 inches of hair on top of my head, I blurted out, "Please, I beg you please don't cut it too short" I was seriously about to leap out of the chair had she gone any further and that is not hyperbole. I totally would have gotten up and left. I lived through the 6 month hell of the last "man cut" and I refuse to go through that again. Apparently another reviewer for this salon was unhappy with her short hair cut she received from All Star Salon. Plenty of people with longer styles are happy here according to reviews...so maybe short women's cuts simply isn't Kim's forte? So if you are female looking for a short haircut, my advise is to shop elsewhere. I tip for the stylist if she ever reads these, show the client how much you intend to cut off before you make the first cut. You could save yourself from bad reviews and save the customer from living with unwanted haircuts. This is especially true if the client has actually had the haircut before. You looked at the photo for 10 seconds, if that. I lived inside that hairstyle for weeks, styled it daily. I know what I had. This is not it by a long shot! read more
