Bowling has never been so stylish and retro with the arrival of All Star Lanes in Bayswater. Forget dodgy shoes, greasy food and beer- All Star has an impressive cocktail list and a delicious American style diner. It's great to do something a bit different at the weekend instead of just drinks and dinner. At All Star Lanes you can do both AND bowl or watch your friends while sipping a cocktail. I really love the salt and pepper squid and crab cakes aand the steaks are good too. Bowling will never ever be boring!

Since its opening, I have always been a massive fan of Bloomsbury Bowling in Tavistock Square but have always been told by friends that All Star Lanes is a far slicker, cooler bowling experience. Last weekend, we were invited to a Christmas party, where the company had hired out the whole venue until 1 am (not late enough) For a big party, the two bars were not sufficient- the queues were very long and there were not enough people behind the bar. However, I'm sure for a normal bowling session it would be fine. I couldn't work out why, but I didn't think All Star Lanes was quite as fun as Bloomsbury- I think it is almost too polished and too smart.

Oh we had so much fun at All Star Lanes last night. Our event there was absolutely action-packed (drinks, dinner, cocktails, canapes, bowling, karaoke, competitions) and we had an excellent time. I'm impressed that you can throw a bunch of Qypers who've never met in a room with some beer and before long they're chatting away like old friends. Qype + Bowling = happy people. I love the whole Americana feel of the venue. There's something about 50s pin ups and old school US-of-A stuff that really does it for me. It might be the dresses, or my love for all things Grease-based. Or it might be that everything comes with sour cream and fries. And there's milkshakes. Our dinner was good. I wouldn't come to All Star Lanes just for dinner, but I was pleasantly surprised. There's a lot of choice (yet I still had a burger craving, what's a girl to do). The burger could have been excellent, but it was medium-well done. I prefer mine medium rare and I'd have liked to have been asked how I wanted it cooked. I wasn't entirely sure about the strange sauce that came with it either. But, I still polished off the whole thing, despite eating tasty chicken wings for starters. That still didn't stop me eating all those little desert canapes either. Worth mentioning that the waitresses did an excellent job of looking after 20 of us. All smiles and sexy little dresses. The cocktails were excellent (some kind of fruit whiskey julep concoction, more please), and I loved the private room. Actually, I'd happily give the private room five stars. It's the perfect place to hire out for a party (yes, I'm plotting already), with two bowling lanes for a tournament (my team won, IT WASN'T A FIX), and karaoke to embarrass yourself on. We had an excellent time here. One of those evening where you're still smiling and giggling about things the next day. I enjoyed the food, but with a few tweaks I'd happily give them five stars all 'round. Can we go back please? Can Qype set up a bowling team? Can we? Please? *This review was after our Qype/All Star Lanes event, our meal and entertainment were gratis, as were our cocktails.

Had a Christmas party here a while ago. Luckily we booked in advance and managed to get two lanes, so we had one team against another - great fun :-) Located in Whiteleys (entrance on the Porchester Gardens side), All Star Lanes has a very retro/50's style decor and convenient location - there are two tube stations (Queensway & Bayswater) and bus stops nearby. If you fancy going somewhere else afterwards, you could always walk towards Westbourne Grove, where you'll find some trendy bars...

A…read morefantastic atmosphere with its ultra comfortable leather booth seats, skylight bringing in natural sunlight, even plug sockets for laptop users and free wifi. It also seems the place to watch live sports over a drink and a burger with tv screens on each corner of the restaurant yet it is still very family friendly and service has always been impeccable. In my honest opinion I do believe they serve some of the best American dishes around and can even compete with some of London's favourite diners. Wild wings (cajun) x6 Incredibly moreish and can see myself finishing a higher quantity bucket load. The wing sizes were quite average but very succulent and meaty inside. The cajun spices gave it a nice sweet paprika garlicky flavour and latched on well on the crispy skins of the wing showing that they were well fried, Sloppy Joes Ticked all the boxes for a fantastic burger. First that lovely pillow soft brioche bun, slightly charred so it came warm. Then came the rich tender minced beef fried with onions and peppers in there to give it some texture and boost of flavour. The sauce it came with was generous, with lovely rich sweet and and savoury notes keeping everything moist and juicy throughout. Finished off nicely with a fine slice of cheese, melted perfectly to intensify the umami flavours. Full rack ribs A delicious slab of ribs, keeping its meaty texture and flavours which suggest it was slow cooked the full length of time to tenderise and soften the meat. There was no pre cooking the ribs beforehand here. This allowed the rich BBQ coca cola sauce to penetrate through to the bone whilst reducing in liquid to create a rich and sticky coating around the ribs keeping everythign moist and juicy. A nice light creamy coleslaw on the side to cool things off. Curly fries These were perfectly fried. It had that moreish fluffy inside and crispy outside that was coated in the sweet mild spices which you find collapsing on itself as you chew, sending the rush of flavour through each mouthful. I say mouthful as who just pops one in their mouth per bite, not if they are this good. Chilli fries Not the spicy chilli as I imagined but chilli consisting of a wonderful well flavoured mix of red kidney beans, onions and red peppers in a lovely thick tomato slurry that helped bind the sauce and flavours on each and every chip. Drizzled with sour cream to add a lovely creamy consistency. Very wholesome dish. Sloppy suits every occassion whether it's your quick lunch or a celebration feast. Food has always been fantastic and paired with that is it's lovely bright and spacious atmosphere. Those who can eat a lot like me should definitely go for one of their food challenges. try their Sloppy Joes challenge and knock me down the top of the chart if you can.

My partner and I visited on New Years Eve. I'm not sure if this is always the case, but the music playing was primarily American rock - like The Eagles, Neil Young, etc. It's fine, but not very in line with the classic, upscale feel. The bartending staff was top notch. I had a martini and my partner had a house Manhattan, both were perfect. We shared the iceberg wedge to start, a personal favorite, and this one was spot on. Great bleu cheese dressing, still warm lardons, and crispy, fresh iceberg lettuce. For mains, I ordered the aged Irish ribeye and chose to have it "gorgonzola encrusted". This was the first misstep. First of all, the grass fed beef stands on its own, I would never choose to add a sauce, but this was encrusted, right? Not so much. Here's the definition of encrusted from the Oxford dictionary: "Covered or decorated with a HARD surface layer". What I received was a steak smothered in (a very lovely) gorgonzola SAUCE with some bacon and spring onions. Had I known it was a sauce, I would have skipped it, or at the very least had it served on the side. Slightly disappointing, but the steak was perfectly medium rare and delicious. My partner ordered the hake. It was served with a prawn and a very tasty tarragon pesto. She said the pesto was the star. The fish was delicate and also well prepared. We shared sauteed spinach and roasted mushrooms, both delicious. For dessert we shared the banana and toffee mousse. This was the second misstep. This was a tasty dessert, but it was definitely not mousse. It was a very small sliver of banana bread (?). It had strong banana flavor and was served with rum raisin ice cream which was nice. It was also thankfully a very small portion as we were stuffed. Overall, a very decadent and elegant meal to ring in the new year!

Service was quick and personal, the atmosphere was great and we had some amazing food again. My filet was spectacular and thats comparing to many top steakhouses in the US and Australia. My only negative comment is the cost. Compared to similar steakhouses overseas its more expensive. Despite that I'll be back next time I'm in London.

Came here for pre-theater anniversary dinner with my wife. The ambiance was somewhere between that of a trendy club and nice bar. There was a mad scientist vibe with the lights being industrial vibe and some metal decor. The music was thumpy and loud enough to remind you it was there. It made me feel a bit out-of-place as somebody well past my 20s, but also a bit cool or being there. You really come here for the drinks. We got the pipe dream, smokey old fashioned, honeypot picante, and one other I can't remember the name of, but which came in a flower pot. The pipe dream and smokey old fashioned were likely the best. Overall the drinks were more visually appealing than traditionally good and the visually appealing ones tended to have ingredients that weren't as top shelf and/or they were just too sweet. Not bad, but disappointing for what we'd hope. The food was the opposite. I had low expectations and the food wasn't amazing, but was better than average. We got the bao buns, crispy duck pancakes, panko halloumi, katsu curry, and hot honey pork tacos. They arranged for it all to come out in time for us to make our theater show, which was nice. The bao buns and pork tacos were probably the best. Neither blew me away, but both were solid. The katsu curry and halloumi were standard of what you might expect. The crispy duck pancakes was maybe as advertised, but it would have been nice to have some moistness or substance to the dug vs. it basically being crunchy salty bits of something. Overall, this wasn't a bad meal, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for either. We may be back, but we'll probably try other things first.

I made a reservation online with Seven Rooms. The address is in the business' name. To get to this restaurant you can take the Piccadilly line and exit Piccadilly Circus and it's less than a 10 minutes walk over. We headed to the area a little early to explore Piccadilly Circus and Fortnum and Mason next door. Upon entering, there is a coat check that can take our outerwear or backpacks. The card they gave us for our belongings were really fancy. Then we were seating at a cozy half booth. Since we knew what we wanted, we were able to quickly order when our server came around to take our orders. We wanted the Beef Wellington for 2 (£99.50) that comes with sides of Dauphinoise Potatoes and Green Beans in Peppercorn Sauce. We were surprised to be told it would be a 40 minutes wait time for the Beef Wellington due to the tableside sauce making, and it seemed like only one person was performing this task. We got some bread to start, but I didn't want to eat too much cause it would ruin my appetite for the main attraction. I also ordered a glass of Massale Pinot Noir (£15.25) and asked that it would be brought out when the food was ready. When the food was finally ready the tableside service was a fun show. All the ingredients were premeasured for the tableside chef, and he showed us every single ingredient he put it. Then he skillfully cut up the wellington without cracking or denting the crust. He mentioned starting out in pastry so he has some moves. The meal was a fantastic treat and the sides were much appreciated. The dauphinoise potatoes and green beans paired well with the wellington. The beef was cooked perfectly medium rare and evenly. The whole experience was definitely a treat. I would recommend it if you're looking to try a beef wellington... After experiencing the Sunday Roast in London, I would say the Sunday Roast experience was less expensive for equivalent or greater enjoyment. Nevertheless this is one of the better value establishments if you are looked specifically for a beef wellington experience.
