Being fairly new to the area, I used Yelp to find a reputable smog place. All Smog in Hemit came up with a high review. Upon arriving, there were several people in line so I asked the guy at the desk how long he thought it might be. He said, "probably at least 30 minutes". Perfect, I had another errand I needed to run. I came back in 20 min. and he said, "you'll need to sign in again and wait because we already called your name." Sigh. I was a little put out because IMO he should have known a better timeframe. Nonetheless, I signed back in and waited. I have tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt over and over and I honestly don't know why I came back for this last time. They have a "Pass or Don't Pay" coupon but somehow take advantage of us every single time. My daughter just recently went in for her smog, showed the woman mechanic with the shaved head her coupon, she didn't pass, and still ended up paying $48. When she went back to retest, she told them at the counter that she had already paid and thought it might have been on accident because she showed the coupon, proving with the receipt of her previous purchase, and they still made her pay... again! This is the only smog place I like to take my truck too. The staff are honest and helpful. Most lie to you to get you there and then charge more for fails they won't explain. Not here, these guys are up front and let you know exactly why your car failed (if it does) and how to fix it. I only had one fail and it was due to the new law going into effect on the numbers being visible on your CAT converter. So I had to get it replaced since it was pretty old (20 years). My son went in for a routine test , and not only did the Staff treat him rudely , but they intentionally removed the gas cap knowing it would cause the vehicle to fail.. They then charge him , despite the test being set up to fail from start . It's clear they took advantage of a young driver who didn't know any better. Came out after not much longer than a minute and said some monitors on my obd were not ready, said go drive it for about 50 miles as non stop as possible and bring it back for retest. If they couldn't run the test because of unready monitors, how can they charge for a test that wasn't even run? The last time the codes were cleared was the day Trump was convicted (I was waiting in an auto shop that day for my fuel tank pressure sensor to be replaced, listening to the news), so if they're not ready 2 1/2 months later, what's a 50 mile drive gonna do? We needed a smog check for our registration. Drove into All Smogs on State Street at about 3:00pm. I was immediately greeted by Angeles, I believe, who took my car in right away, tested it, and then came back to tell me it had passed. I paid, was given the smog certificate, and was on my way out the door at 3:20pm. My sister and I came here for a smog test at around 2:30 pm. We were kindly greeted and asked to wait, as there was one person ahead of us. When it was our turn, we were told the test would take around 10 minutes. While we were waiting, the other client was told their car did not pass the test. The employee was very knowledgeable and thorough in his explanation as to the reason why it didn't, and went outside to show them, as well.
