The movers showed up unprepared, caused delays, caused major damages-to include holes in the walls and damage to wood steps, and then tried to charge us extra for their own mistakes. When I raised the issue, Zach -- who claimed to be handling it -- lowballed the cost of damages and pushed an unverifiable "contractor" to do the work, despite me clearly stating I would not use just anyone without credentials. They have refused to refund the overage, ignored multiple requests for their insurance information, and the owner still has not responded. The lack of accountability, transparency, and professionalism is alarming. Zach states one thing and then changes to another. He clearly doesn't understand home ownership or business. I am now in the process of filing formal complaints against this company. If you value integrity, honesty, and peace of mind -- do not hire this Moving Company.

The final charge for the initial packing (including materials) was extremely high. When I spoke with Ethan, the owner of the company, he was condescending and rude to me. It became evident to me that while the company provides estimates, the actual charges at the end of the job are at or beyond the high end. Interestingly, there are other reviews that also mention the high cost of Chapel Hill Moving Company. I will be using a different company for the second packing stage and for moving, while hoping that the packing was done professionally and carefully. I recommend that others use a different packing and moving company that is reliable, professional, and (as importantly) cost-effective. Moving is too expensive to overpay when the company knows it can get away with it.

We were in the middle of packing so items were not quite move ready. The gentleman asked me where I worked which was none of his business mind you, and in red flag territory, but I was focused on getting this move done, so I let that go. He also asked if the woman present ( my wife ) was my mother, yes another red flag that we chose to ignore. He stepped out of the apartment called the office I presume and came back with a quote which was a little high, and then left. But because we were in a serious time crunch, the company had favorable reviews, and I like to support local family owned businesses, I called and left a voicemail accepting the quote. I lost three valuable days waiting for a call back that never came. We called back but never spoke to a human. I don't know why we were ghosted, and it might be possible that the high quote was to scare us off instead being straight with us out of some concern that I could not pay them, or simply of telling us they were fully booked or maybe the the third floor apartment was a concern. But that is only speculation. I do hold out the possibility that perhaps something serous like a family emergency might be a factor, but I still should have received a callback. I eventually called another company (ATHENS which I already left a yelp review for), they moved us without issue and they got my money because I did have a job. They even picked up new appliances we purchased on the way to our new home. I hope my experience with Taylor is the exception and not the norm.
