This is in addition to half the story posted already. When we had switched rooms nobody Had asked for a card they just "charged" the card on file. I had woken up to banging on the door, getting called at 9:30 in the morning. I had a note slipped under my door. Just the note would've been okay. I had also gotten calls from the fraud company saying that my card is locked because of multiple transactions. They tried charging my card five times for the room price which was $95. We had already paid them in cash for the first two nights and the last night we thought we already paid for it. We never gave them this card for file. There were also two other transactions on there one for $50 and one for 80. I immediately went up to the front desk with my card to pay. I was OK with paying for that night but what I was worried about is why they had charged my card that many times. I voiced my concerns and all she said was cards do that sometimes and the fraud company will let you know. And I told her that I never gave them my card for that and she was confused as to why I was up there, talking to her about it and not the fraud company. I then proceeded to pay with my card and tell her that I was worried that my car was still going to get charged for $400 that was not needed. She told me I needed to take it up with my bank and not her, even though she was the one that tried charging my card that many times. When we were leaving my boyfriend also talked to them and told them that he won't be able to pay his bills because he has to destroy his card and now switch accounts. All she said was nothing got charged they tried to, but nothing was charged. And the last thing is the hot tub was closed and they told me that it would be open on Tuesday night. So I went to go and talk to the lady and she said you can go ahead and get in it but it's just not warm enough yet. So I waited three or four more hours and then sat down there and put my feet in the water with my friend. I then got my feet out of the water because it wasn't warm enough so I didn't feel like having my feet in there. The next day it was still closed so I went and talk to them and ask them why they told me that they got the chemicals wrong and they didn't know what it was gonna do to my skin. So therefore the same lady that was working at night told me it was OK to put my feet in there and then the next morning told me that they could've given me chemical burns. Overall the crappiest place I've stayed. I have stayed there multiple times and never once had this bad of a problem with them. It has always been fine staying there. I will never go there again and I do not ever recommend anybody traveling to stay there or anyone that's just Trying to have a fun night to go there. they were way too many problems to have a relaxing getaway.

Couldn't give a 0 star even though it's much needed. My stay here was completely unbelievable. The amount of times we tried even getting in and out of our hotel room. Our cards didn't work to get into our room or the pool area. We had about 10 cards just in one room made. Our first night was okay until I got locked in the bathroom for an hour while my boyfriend and his brother went to go to the pool. I was banging on the door I tried everything couldn't get out. So immediately after being freed I went up to the front desk and told them about it and the girl laughed at me. Literally laughed and said "oh my well I'll leave a note." Not at all concerned about the fact I was locked in the bathroom with no way of getting out. So my boyfriend and his brother had went up there again and expressed how concerned they were about it happening to someone else especially someone staying alone. She proceeded to roll her eyes and tell them how she already left a note and finally I went up there and told her to switch us rooms because I can't go to the bathroom with the door open because of my bfs brother, that isn't okay. She moved us rooms and charged us for that night still. At least I would think they would have taken off money or something for the great inconvenience and scare. The second night we were sleeping on beds that were greatly uncomfortable and also had multiple times of changing our cards out. We immediately switched rooms in the morning to a nicer one. There are only 2 remodeled rooms in that place and I told them I wanted one of them. We slept fine and that was the room we should've gotten in the first place. The only nasty thing was behind the cabinet there was molded food, vapes, garbage that had been sitting for a long time. The bathroom wouldn't close all the way same with the second room we were in. None of the bathrooms lock and none of them close all the way. That's a necessity for a bathroom. The fridge wasn't working and was plugged in just wasn't cold enough. Our frozen food we had put in there was completely thawed out. Even though we put it on the top where the freezer is at. We had nothing to eat so we still had to eat the now thawed food that was sitting there for 5+ hours. We had so many problems getting in and out of that room as well.

DO NOT STAY HERE! My husband and I stayed at this hotel, Rodeway Inn, in Kalkaska on August 11,…read more2021 and we were charged incorrectly for our stay. We asked the woman at the front desk to correct the charge based on our email quote and she told me it was Choice Hotels cost and she couldn't fix it and if I have an issue I should call them. So we called Choice Hotels and the first person we talked to was not helpful and told us we had to join their travel club to get that price. We then asked for a supervisor to speak to and after a very long wait, we finally got Nami on the line and again after a long discussion (1 hour and 25 minute call) she called the hotel to ask the manager to adjust the cost to meet our original quote. The next morning when we checked out I requested a copy of our bill and was given a slip indicating a credit. It took 3 more calls to the hotel over 3 weeks to get the actual refund. To top it off, the hotel was gross (bed was clean I think) and the people were very unprofessional. Stay anywhere else!!

Stayed here while in town for a wedding. Prices were quite low since it was winter (March)…read more Pros: Cute, clean, spacious room with a comfortable bed and huge, lovely pillows. Nice common area with a fireplace and comfy couches. The views were amazing. Cons: The front desk staff seems unhappy and passes that along to you. As other reviewers have mentioned, they aren't flexible when it comes to changing your stay or checking in/out earlier than the stated times, so make sure your plans are very solid before booking, even in the dead of winter. Parking is very limited. We were expecting guests to drop by for a quick visit (two hours tops) and asked where they could park. We were directed across US-31 (a busy four-lane thoroughfare) to an overflow lot. We asked if there was anything closer, as one person is in a wheelchair, but they didn't budge. (The parking lot in front of the hotel was empty except for our car at that point.) I'm giving this four stars because it is an impressive property and the winter prices are quite low, but keep in mind that the customer experience wasn't great.

Don't book until you know how long you want to stay. No refunds. We had a one bedroom condo on the main level. Comes with one dedicated parking spot and extra parking on the west side of the lot. The styling is craftsman and is holding up nicely despite the harsh winters and water. Rooms are nicely maintained but the furniture is showing some wear. It was clean and well organized and it felt safe. Access to the beach is easy and each unit has a patio. Views are stellar and it's well worth the price. They come by to clean rooms and tidy up every day. The kitchenette is helpful and the fireplace is also a fun compliment to the space. Staff at the front desk is not award winning for personality but they got us what we needed. Bar was never open and the sister property down the beach has a restaurant and rooftop bar should you need that. We would return.

The owners Damon and Angela are real friendly, and want to make sure your stay is a good one. The cabins are old and may be a little creeky, but the insides are lean and updated with new bath fixtures, new kitchens with new cabinets, sink, counters, stove and fridge. They have been busy remodeling and cleaning them up. They are only 1/2 hour to sleeping bear, Traverse City, or Glen Arbor. They are on the Platte River, and Damon will drive you upstream, drop you off with tubes so you can cruise back to the cabins. There are firepits eveywhere for you to relax quietly, and even chat with neighbors or the owners if you like.
