We were in town for a wedding and were lucky enough to get a couple of rooms here. Our experience was top-notch and we have recommended this place to many other people. I cannot comment on the tiki hut or the breakfast, as we got there late and left early the next morning. But the woman (I wish I knew her name) who checked us in was so warm and welcoming, and the rooms were just perfect. All the little details you typically get at a high end hotel - slippers, robes, nice soaps. And the bed and linens were very comfortable. What a gem of a place! First timer at Springbrook Inn and I was amazed at what a wonderful place it is. Kathy the owner/host, is one of the most charming, hardworking and fantastic cooks we've ever have had the chance to meet. The inn is SPOTLESSLY maintained, cleanest room I believe I have stayed at including all the Hiltons and high end resorts. Every morning at 9:00 a home cooked (by Kathy) breakfast is delivered to the room which was an unexpected treat. The onsite Tiki Bar and it's fabulous staff takes care of anything else you might need. It is a 21+ destination which was a plus for us. Thank you Kathy for a wonderful (extended) weekend! What a beautiful place to relax, have a great meal, and the comforts of a well designed room. Had dinner at the Tiki Bar with family from the area who met us there. The service was outstanding and the food was second to none. Interesting place. The last dinner seating is 8pm, even on a Sat. There is lovely outdoor seating at the Frog Tiki bar, a stones throw away, but the indoor decor in this place is... Country? Vinyl covered chairs.....let's just call it no frills. My sister and I got talked to by the waitress for being too loud. We were talking in a normal tone of voice. Apparently some the patrons here have an abnormal sensitivity to noise, and complained about us. Seriously, we weren't loud. Not even close. I know what loud is, and we weren't even approaching that. That said, I had the walleye and my sister had the perch. They were both good. Not bad, not excellent, but good. read more

Our friends have a place in Roscommon and they brought us here. I really WISH we could have something like this near us! We didn't stay at the Inn but, we ate at the tiki bar. We absolutely loved the backyard party feel of this place. Live music, games... it was like being at a friend's house. There drinks and food were excellent. I had a peanut butter painkiller to drink. The steak bites were delicious and the creamy horseradish sauce they came with was perfect. Stuffed mushrooms? Get them! I was full but, they were so good, I had to finish them. Great place to get away! We had the hot tub room with fireplace. Hot tub was clean and water temp was perfect. Room was clean too! A little balcony to sit out on to watch nature and a view of the coolest tiki bar in MI that's actually part of the Inn. Good drinks & food at the huge tiki bar. The Inn also have a large koi fish pond on the grounds and a couple cornhole boards that we enjoyed using. This is an all around nice place for a stay close to Houghton Lake or just looking for a place to get away for couples. Thank you for a great overnight stay! We'll be back. read more

The Springbrook Inn is a hidden gem. Not only are the rooms a good size and clean but even better is that they treat you as if you are family there. This is my 3rd time here and as always worth every penny. It is super clean and whats not to love about rooms with private over sized Jacuzzi tubs? Just a short drive to the beach and the grounds here are so pretty. We read on our balcony at night while the sun went down and they serve breakfast right to your room in the morning. Not having to mingle with others when you want to just spend a romantic weekend alone is just a added bonus. Stayed a week at this great Bed and Breakfast Inn in Houghton Lake. Room was clean, well-kept and service excellent. This is the best kept secret just an hour and half north of Saginaw. Breakfast served daily to your room during our stay. Breakfast was not continental ranging from eggs with bacon on an English Muffin to Belgium Waffles all with fresh fruit and coffee. We found Springbrook Inn back in 2017 when we needed a last minute room near Houghton Lake on a holiday weekend. All other places were booked, so we took a chance on this one. We had stayed at a few of the big hotels on the lake before, and we really did not love the atmosphere of any of them, one was even what I would call disgusting! Fast forward 3 years, have stayed in the Springbrook Room (2-3 times per year) every time we have visited the area since then. Breakfast is never a disappointment. We love the Tiki Bar, so relaxing to sit outside near the fish pond for lunch and drinks, before a trip to the lake-house of a friend. The rooms are, well stocked, nice decor and probably the cleanest I have experienced anywhere (my husband and I both travel for work and have had a few years where we have stayed over 100 nights in hotels). I would highly recommend you check this out if you want/need to stay near Houghton Lake. read more

My husband and I have been coming for 8 years, twice a year, more if we are able. It's absolutely perfect, the owner and staff couldn't be nicer. The accommodations are great, the food at the East Bay is outstanding. We always look forward to breakfast left at the door, always just right. We love to go to the Frog Tiki Bar, attached so no driving, with things to do like Trivia and Dueling Pianos. Just a great romantic and relaxing getaway, and we look forward to our next visit every time we have to leave. We have literally never had one complaint. Husband and I booked for 1 night Labor day weekend. Hotel is an adult only establishment made for couples looking for a relaxing, unpretentious experience. I had not stayed at a bed and breakfast in many years, so my experience is limited, however. I cannot think of anything that might have been lacking, it was more than i could of hoped for. The host Kathy took us to our room and explained all the features. The room was clean, comfortable and included details, that I thought must of been a result of her world travels. (There are family albums all over the hotel, I wish I'd had more time to look at these). Room details such as reading material ..a little book on Michigan travel, a cozy blanket on the sofa, wine glasses and cork screw. We enjoyed the Tiki bar and frog pond area and they had a special pig roast on Sunday. Several entertainment acts were performing the night we were there, I imagine it depends upon the timing of your stay. We were told when we booked that music would make it a little noisier than usual, that was appreciated, although we enjoyed it and made several trips down to the Tiki bar on our visit. I wish i could remember our server's name. College girl, wonderfully attentive. Everyone was friendly and looked like they enjoyed working there. The regular dining room was not open during our stay, I imagine due to the labor day weekend and pig roast. Although they had other menus items in the Tiki bar-- all very good. We most definitely recommend this hidden gem and plan to return as soon as we can. read more

*Long but worth the read if you plan on staying in this establishment to know what management is about* My friend and I rented a room for the July 4th weekend. We are both in our mid 20's. We checked in and went to the beach where we drank and had fun. We get back to our room and decide to invite over a friend and check out their tiki bar. Well after our friend spent money on food and drinks at their establishment he wanted to use the bathroom and check the place out. As I was starting to open the door a woman appeared out of nowhere and rudely stated he is not a registered guest. I understand that but we are paying more money than the room was worth already so we aren't allowed to even have guests? She jumped straight to accusations and told us to go somewhere else to have our "dirty three sum". Extremely unprofessional and offensive if you ask me. I told her he wasn't planning on staying there and we have all been drinking so we cannot drive anywhere and we already spent $100 plus on cabs for the day and couldn't afford to spend more on that. She did not care at all. I told her you realize you are putting drunk drivers on the road to which she stated she is going to call the police and report us for drunk driving. That is entrapment and I would think such a "family oriented" establishment would be above that. She brought up our young age multiple times negatively so I wholeheartedly believe she discriminated against us which led to the terrible treatment. She accused us of the room "being disgusting" when it was just our clothes and personal belongings spread about the room. We were in the room a total accumulated time of an hour if that. The bed was still made, we didn't use their bathroom once, and when all our stuff was packed it looked like we were never even there. *I am going to mention that we didn't know the door was locked from the outside so we used the lock on the door frame from the inside so we could leave from the patio in the back since it was pouring rain and would have been faster. I completely forgot we used the lock inside so as I opened it I accidentally pulled a tiny portion the door frame out a half inch from the wall. I apologized for it as we are not the type to destroy someone else property and took full responsibility.* She said she called a hotel down the road and we can stay there. Once we were in the car and called the hotel she spoke of they told us they are booked and have been booked. So not only did she lie she did not care about our lives or the lives of others on the road. We are lucky we met our friend that day so he could find someone sober to come and drive us to their house. read more

This was a true relax full get away. A very unique experience. First night was a stop to the tiki bar. Not your average bar..felt more like being in friends hutt. Chatting with the owner, relaxing with a new friend. Second evening was spent in. Watching movies, relaxing in the Jacuzzi. We first stayed at Springbrook back in the early 2000's when the original owners built it. It appears that the new owners have maintained and continued to improved the property since their purchase. They switched from water beds to conventional beds, and added the Tiki Bar next to the main building. The owner, her staff, and the restaurant are first class in our opinion. The food in the restaurant is excellent, although a bit pricy. Tiki Bar food and drinks are very good. The Tiki Bar is enclosed during the winter, but we found it warm and comfortable. It should be a blast in the summertime. A note to the ladies, the Tiki Bar does not have indoor restrooms. Two portables are located outside the building, which are lighted, heated, and very well maintained. The lobby and all of the rooms are nicely decorated. The hot tubs are large, allowing you to stretch out. A hot breakfast is delivered to your room around 9 am. read more
