Well-Loved Piano

Well-Loved Piano

Instrument: 1969 Kimball Console piano. Activity: Regularly…read moreplayed several times a week. Was behind approx 7 years in regular tuning routine. Prior to that gap, was on an annual schedule. After a not-so-good tuning from another piano tuner earlier this year (who broke a string and blamed the piano's age on the string's condition and also as being the problem of why it did not hold the tuning 3 months later), I reached out for a second opinion and re-tuning from Well-Loved Piano. Best decision I made this year! Not only did Kenny assess the condition, he replaced the broken string and tuned the piano to perfection, but also fixed the root cause of a long time sticky key that was able to be replicated on my test-play before he left. Taking the time to find the root of that problem won me over! I have already booked next year's tuning before he left. Kenny knows his stuff!

I made the appointment online and Kenny came to the house right on time. Kenny was polite and professional. He has a warm, friendly manner. I was worried about how poor the condition of our piano might be after 4+ years of neglect. To my surprise and relief, Kenny said our piano was in good shape. It needed to be tuned but was otherwise in solid operating condition. The tuning lasted an hour, and the piano sounds great. Kenny does high-quality work, is very knowledgeable, and is a pleasure to speak with. I highly recommend Well-Loved Piano for piano tuning! Michael L

I was looking for a baby grand piano to replace my digital piano. After doing some research online…read moreand went to a few big piano stores, i found my love - a Yamaha C1 in great condition in Pianotek. Dennis, the owner, was very helpful and knowledgeable. He has a great selection of pianos in his store and the price is very reasonable compared to other big piano stores in the area. Dennis said I can even use the price i paid for my Yamaha to upgrade to a Steinway as a credit within 10 years! After sale service is great too. I got my C1 6 months ago and Dennis is the one who maintains and tunes it. I will highly recommend Pianotek to anyone who is in the market of buying a quality piano.

What more can I say than has already been said? I'll give a personal experience. My pianos have…read morenever sounded better. Dennis reinforced that the work that has been done was up to standard. My pianos have never sounded better. He gave me a welcomed and thorougd history of both of my Steinways. Having gone through multiple tuners, it is of no doubt that he is the one. His wisdom of the mechanics and the intricacies of the instrument is evident. I have had the same tuner for several generations and he is the first one that has respected the instrument and the work that has been done. Every tuner has their own phrases that they test during tuning. Dennis is a genius. Plain and simple. His tests are the equivalent of a Carnegie Hall performance. An absolute brilliant mind. Most tuners are a chore to get through and with him, it is a performance. He taught me many things I would have never known. He is as good as it gets. There aren't enough food words. An incredibly kind and knowledgeable gentleman and a master in his craft I reinforce the other voices on Yelp and would wholeheartedly recommend Pianotek and their services. It doesn't get any better. .

I needed to move a grand piano from Westchester to Queens. I contacted this company and was given…read morean estimate which seemed reasonable. There is also an extra 3% surchage if you use a credit card. There were no long, twisting stairwells to navigate (which I believe increases the cost), so a relatively straight-forward move. The company was very responsive via email with answers to my questions (usually within a day) and we booked a date. It snowed the day before the move, but the movers showed up on time, were very professional, and the move went very smoothly. I did not notice any issues upon delivery. I have a Dampp Chaser system attached to the bottom of the piano to help regulate the humidity around the sound board. About 1 week after delivery, I noticed that one of the bars from the Dampp Chaser was on the floor hanging from its power cable. It turns out that two clamps that hold the bar in place were broken, and the bar eventually fell (I think from general vibrations from playing the piano). I suppose maybe this could have been from just general wear, but the timing with the move was just a little odd, and it was two clips, not just one. I contacted the company via email (using the same e-mail address that I had used previously) with photos of the problem and received absolutely no reponse. Eventually, it was a pretty simple, inexpensive repair, but I was a little disappointed in their lack of response (which is why I took off a star), and just wonder what would have happened if we were dealing with a bigger problem. I'm not going to pass judgement, I was otherwise happy with the move, but you can read about the interaction and decide for yourself how important this is if you chose to use this company. Update: So the company did reach to me, took responsibility for the damage, and offered to make it right. At this point, I did not take them up on their offer since it turned out to be a relative easy and inexpensive repair, but I just wanted to acknowledge their follow-up.

The "magic" in the name is absolutely true! They managed to maneuver a Steinway studio upright…read more(approx. 600 lb) around a hairpin turn as they carried it down the stairs, turned it within a narrow hall as they headed toward the door, and eased it down some more stairs to reach their truck. It was astonishing. The three gentlemen who did the move could not have been more courteous and patient, as were the folks who I spoke with on the phone as I set up the appointment. Five stars isn't enough!!!
