Randy saved and fully restored my circa-1970s Howard Miller wall-hanging pendulum clock in lucite and brass, and I couldn't be happier with the result. From our very first conversation, Randy took the time to carefully explain all of my options for restoring the clock. I quickly realized I could completely trust him with a piece that means so much to me. His level of talent, craftsmanship, and expertise is incredibly rare, but what impressed me just as much was the person behind the work. Randy is empathetic, kind, patient, and completely honest. He genuinely cares about both his clients and the pieces entrusted to him. I will only use Randy for clock restoration and repair from now on, and I would recommend him without hesitation to anyone looking for exceptional craftsmanship and expertise. read more

It was a gift to get my clocks repaired by Randy!! I took a collection of random beloved clocks to Randy. Regardless of monetary value, he administered the same amount of care and service to each piece. He tactfully presented the prescribed repair needed and offered choices. He presented care options which went beyond the mechanical needs, and even addressed the aesthetic. His prices were reasonable. Randy's communication is excellent. It was a pleasure to interact and converse with him. This was an excellent experience, and I'm so grateful to see my pendulums swinging and hear my clocks ticking, dinging and gong-ing again!! read more

Very knowledgeable, courteous and prompt. A bit pricey but worth it. Highly recommended.

We found Randy a few years ago when my cuckoo clock stopped working. He did a great job restoring it. So, when I recently inherited an old mantel clock and an ancient grandfather clock, both with complex and archaic mechanisms and neither of which worked, we knew we could trust Randy. He meticulously refurbished and even hand-crafted a few missing and broken parts. Now, all three clocks run smoothly and we are very pleased! read more

I have a 1920's Winchester chime mantle clock that is a treasured family heirloom. It hadn't been used in 15+ years, so I wanted to be sure it was in its best possible condition mechanically. Additionally, the hour chime was 'off', sounding the wrong number of times on the hour. Randy worked his magic on my beloved timepiece and gave me a little history on it, too. Apparently, it's all original, never been repaired, and in great condition. He gave me a brief refresher on the 'care & feeding' of my clock which I appreciated very much. I am absolutely delighted to know my clock was in the best possible care with All Clock Repair and will continue to be part of my family history. read more

I greatly appreciate Randy's expertise and workmanship in repairing a Peugeot bicycle shop clock that I acquired in the mid 1980s. These clocks were quite common back in the day but now they're rare. When I took it to him it was running badly--loosing time. When Randy gave me a repair status report, I was amazed that he rebuilt the mechanism/motor and restored the sweep second hand feature that was disabled in a previous repair. He also tested it thoroughly to ensure it's keeping time. When the Covid-19 Crisis hit it was a challenge picking it up. But Randy came through and delivered it to my apartment! He was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend his work. read more

This summer we got an antique pendulum wall clock from Vienna circa 1900 (no instructions). It worked well until the Fall time change. When we turned our clocks back we began having a problem with getting what the hands read and chimes rang to be coordinated. I contacted him and he and I were able to work the problem over a video call. It not only worked well after that but he gave me a lot of helpful knowledge. Then when there was another adjustment needed about 1 week later, he generously gave more time and more helpful instructions over the telephone. I feel confident that I know how to care for it in order to keep it running smoothly. He is a very good source. Kathleen read more

Losing your last parent is one of the deep emotional experiences of life. Along with the grief of missing them and the sadness of things said and unsaid, comes the responsibility of determining what of their things you want to preserve and bring into your own life and home. For me, one of those things was my mother's grandfather clock. And as she would say, "This is not just 'a' grandfather clock, this was 'my Grandfather's' clock." So with the responsibility of preserving a family heirloom into its fourth generation, I was lucky to find Randy Berning of All Clock Repair. He not only understood the mechanics of his job, but also the emotional link that I had to this clock, which had not run or chimed in seven or eight years. I had been told on more than one occasion, by lesser repair shops, that the clock was not repairable and that I should replace the innards with a new set of works. Randy came to my home, professionally removed the clock works, took the works to his shop, and diagnosed the problems (yes, several problems). In the end, he was able to replace bearings, realign gears, and fully service the movement. The clock now maintains time to match some of my fine Swiss watches. I highly recommend Randy and I will be using him for all my clock repairs until he decides to hang up his spurs. read more

Randy is A-OK. We were referred to him by Ethan Allen Furniture in Pasadena. We purchased our grandfather clock in 1978 for our sixth wedding anniversary present to ourselves. Randy has been providing the continuing maintenance care for our clock for several years now. He is very knowledgeable and always willing to answer our questions. read more

I just got off the phone with Randy--I had questions about whether I should have a crated grandmother clock that my Dad built repaired before I sent it out to my son on the East Coast, or wait and have it repaired after it was shipped. Randy spent a half hour on the phone with me, gave me great advice about grandfather clocks and life in general, and didn't try to up-sell me for his own benefit. I myself own a grandmother clock and a grandfather clock that my Dad built, and when they need repairs/maintenance, I will be sure to call Randy in the future. I called Randy to learn more about the nature of grandfather clocks, and how to move one out of state, from CA to OR. He was very knowledgeable and even volunteered to help me find a reliable moving service, all of this without securing a job from me. The reason I'm writing this is because it's so rare to find someone to share their expertise without anything in return, and I've very grateful to Randy for getting me started. I ended up following his suggestions, and found a local, mom n' pop shop in my area to move my clock personally, while on a trip to L.A. I ended up scoring a deal, costing me 85% less than what I would've been charged by a moving co. A big thank you to Randy for working with me to hash-out the details and giving me these ideas. Should my family ever need your expertise, I will surely send them your way! read more

I have several nice clocks from the 18th and 19th centuries. I despaired of finding someone competent enough to make them great again so they sat around the house gathering dust until I found Randy. He fixed my clocks and they are now running like new. I can't say enough good things about Randy. He is experienced, does a great job, is very quick and doesn't charge a king's ransom but is very reasonable. On top of that he is a very personable guy. read more

Randy repaired and cleaned up an 1880's vintage Parisian mantel clock I had inherited from my antique clock collecting father. After speaking with him, I immediately felt I could trust him with this valuable asset. My father had become expert at restoring and working on clocks in his extensive collection (many of which were museum quality) and he and Randy spoke the same craftsman's language and shared the same passion for their work. The repaired clock (starting with a frozen mainspring) once completed works like it's new. I couldn't be happier! read more

I left a message for "All Clock Repair" here on Yelp to inquire about a grandfather clock that my elderly neighbor wanted to sell. What can I say !!! There is not enough good things I can say about Randy and his service. He fixed two clocks for me , one was antique and quiet valuable. We agreed on a mutually drop off location. He picked them up. Sent me a quote which was extremely fair given the amount of work that was required. I paid half. He accepts Venmo. Clocks were fixed and again we agreed on a drop off the location and paid the remainder of the balance. He was courteous, prompt and professional. I could not recommend his services more. Thank you Randy. read more

I own an IBM master clock that was used as a time-keeping device at the Los Angeles Woolworth's building around the 1960s. I wanted to have it repaired to working order before I moved out of state. When I learned that my go-to clock repair technician (with generations in the business) could not figure out how to repair my clock, I found Randy on Yelp and was impressed by his Yelp reviews. During my initial call with Randy, we agreed that my move schedule was too tight for him to actually repair my clock. However, he offered to take a look at photos of my clock to see if he could offer suggestions. I sent him photos, and we got on another call. He proceeded to spend over an hour on the phone diagnosing the issue and offering solutions on how I could have it fixed after I moved. He explained that he has encountered this type of clock before and gave me the confidence that he would have been able to fix the clock if given the chance. If time had allowed, Randy would have been my new go-to clock repair person. Not only did he demonstrate his expertise by explaining the technical things about my clock and suggesting probable causes/solutions, but he was also willing to consult with me for over an hour when he knew I would not be a paying customer. I would highly recommend Randy based on his expertise and personable approach to sharing with and educating people about his passion of clock repair. Thank you, Randy! read more

I have an old wall clock that was damaged years ago in an earthquake. It sat broken in a box in the garage for decades. Randy was a pleasure to work with - he is helpful, knowledgeable, and really listened to what I wanted. Apologizes in advance for the lengthy review but I always feel an obligation to provide details when I come across exceptional service. I originally called Randy to see if he sold specific types of clocks (English bracket). I had found one that I really liked at a charming antique store in Solvang, however the price was out of my budget. So I have been on the hunt to find something similar that is more in my price range. Randy let me know that he did not have anything similar and mostly just does repairs but told me I could send him a picture of the clock and that he could give me his thoughts on it. He also knew the owner of the shop of the clock I was interested in. After I sent the picture of the clock I saw in Solvang, Randy called me back and gave me his thoughts on the clock, and highly recommended the shop and shop owner in Solvang. He also inquired about having the Solvang shop reduce the price for me. Unfortunately, even with the reduction in price that was offered, the clock was still quite a bit beyond what I could pay and it didn't work out. That being said, I would 110% recommend doing business with this establishment. I did not purchase anything from Randy, yet he still took quite a bit of time to follow up with me, gave me detailed info (on an item that he wasn't even selling) and took it upon himself to call the other shop owner. He didn't try and sell me anything from his shop, only tried to encourage me to purchase the original clock I liked in Solvang. It is rare nowadays to get this quality of service, especially when the company isn't profiting directly from you. I do know that one day I will find a clock I love that fits by budget and Randy will be my go-to person for repairs or maintenance. He is highly knowledgeable, understanding and a true gem. read more
