I did not know Jim, nor was I referred to him. I read about his business and background ( his…read more"story"), talked to him at length, and decided to give it a shot. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate Jim and the quality of his work at least a 15. Jim sent me photos, of the various stages of the restoration, on a regular basis, just to keep me in the loop. And, the job was done without any excuses or delay. I also saw some of his other projects in his workshop ~ his work is just excellent! Jim is a fine, upstanding person, who sincerely cares about what he is doing. I gladly, and highly, recommend him to anyone looking to do a restoration/refinishing project. I couldn't be happier with the results (as the photos show).

I had the pleasure of using the The Furniture Shop for a small antique coffee table I recently…read moreinherited, which is very sentimental to me. My plan was to use this coffee table as a bench at the end of the bed, however it was very wobbly, not sturdy enough to be sat on, and had at least a 5" crack in the middle of one of the legs. I contacted Jim via email and sent pictures, to which he replied to promptly and provided a rough estimate.... so I made an appointment to bring it in. Jim is both a gentleman, who was a pleasure to deal with, and an expert craftsman, who has 28 years experience in both furniture repair and upholstery. He knows his stuff! His shop was absolutely immaculate and he was both kind and easy to talk to. Top notch customer service :) 4 days later my table was ready! Apparently, it required pretty much an entire deconstruct of the second shelf and all the legs, regluing and reinforcing all interior dowels and then reassembly. The cracked table leg? I couldn't even notice it was repaired! I'm thrilled to have my treasured sentimental table back with the ability to use it in more functional manner as a bench for the end of the bed! I would absolutely recommend Jim to anyone who needs furniture repaired. Overall it was a top notch experience in every way.

In the midst of putting up the first painting, he literally packed up his tool bag and left after I kindly requested him to move the positioning a quarter inch to the right since it wasn't centered on the wall. Literally no conversation at all except, "I don't want to do this job." When I called the main number, the dispatcher apologized for the worker's behavior and offered an alternative handy person to stop by 2 days later. I was literally left speechless by this level of unprofessionalism - especially when the person is being paid by the hour and not a flat fee. Appreciate that the dispatcher took responsibility and was apologetic, and not defensive at all. However, having planned for more than a week and having moved work commitments for this, it's not acceptable.

I'm still thanking my contractor for bringing Tim onto my renovation project. Tim is the definition…read moreof a perfectionist--in the best possible way--and his attention to detail shows in every inch of my new hardwood floors. From the start, he took the time to explain his process and think through every scenario. I have flexible central‑air ductwork running under my kitchen, and before he put down a single board, he went into the basement and marked every duct location to make sure he wouldn't accidentally hit anything with a nail. That level of care is rare. He also worked seamlessly with our schedule as we moved appliances and even a radiator. Nothing rattled him. He planned ahead, communicated clearly, and treated the project like it was happening in his own home. We moved out during the staining process, and when we returned, Tim had even repaired some wood work that had been destroyed by our dog! The end result? Absolutely beautiful floors--true perfection. If you want someone who is meticulous, thoughtful, and genuinely committed to doing the job right, Tim is the one you want. I couldn't recommend him more highly.
