Had a great time! Larry is absolute blast of a tour guide. I will definitely be booking with him next time we go to Fredericksburg.

Brewery #373 This…read moreplace is like the Biltmore House of breweries. It's beautiful and huge! If they didn't have a big sign out front, you definitely would think you are in the wrong place. We came in just to get some beer, but it had more of a restaurant feel than traditional brewery. We sat in the bar area, and whenever I go to a new brewery, I always get a flight to try multiple beers. Altstadt has flights but they are prefixed, you can't make your own. Slight irritation but nothing major. I ended up getting a more German style flight with a Kolsch, Hefe, Lager, and Amber. They were all good with the Hefe being my favorite. I am usually an IPA fan, and they had one, but I was not able to try it. We weren't that hungry, so we just ordered some fries with beer cheese. These were crisp little pillows of heaven, and the cheese was a perfect dip. The menu was heaven on German food, but there's a wide range with some upscale items as well. The place was probably too fancy for me and my Homer Simpson hoodie, but they were still accommodating. Next time I will wear better clothes and have dinner but let me pick my own flight please.

However the women's bathroom was scary. There was a water leak that had clearly been there for a while as mold had started to form. No way could this have been overlooked or unknown to management as it was very visible

Since there are no business owner responses, the problems could be persisting. However, we've enjoyed our time here in the past so we thought we'd try it again. We got here at 5 pm on a Thursday and the place was mostly empty. That usually translates into better service and likely a better prepared meal as well. Sure enough, this theory was correct. We had two craft beers on the table within three minutes followed by Ruben fritters five minutes after that. The menu here is pretty simple with the expected German twist to it. We just stuck to a salad and burger. The salad was fresh and good, but the burger was pretty average and you have to add your own mayo and mustard. Even by adding cheese and mushrooms it still fell within the three star range and the fries were just OK. The beers were correct to style, but the hoppier beers were slightly tame. It's pretty much three stars overall, but the service was great so 31/2*. I'd still come back and try something else off the menu before the weekend and before 6.

Brewery #374…read more Ordinarily I hate giving 1-star reviews because that means I had a bad experience. A month has passed since I visited, and I am now happy to write this review. We came in sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas on a rainy night and were seated right away. After waiting like 10 mins the waiter came and took our drink order. The ladyfriend had a water and I got a flight of beer. He showed up 5 mins later with her water and took our food order. We order a pretzel as an appetizer, and each ordered a salad as an entree. Then queue the Jeopardy theme as we waited. 1st came out the salads after 15 mins or so. I asked about my beer and the waiter says, "yeah dude I asked the bartender and he said you'd get it before Christmas" and proceeds to laugh. I smile and let it go. So now I am watching the bartender and he's not busy. He actually took other people's order at the bar. Then comes the pretzel 10 mins later. The waiter says, "Can I get you anything else?" I say, "Yeah my beer. How am I supposed to eat this without anything to drink?' He says " woah dude don't kill the messenger". I then went full Karen and asked to speak to a manager who never came. Finally, after finishing the salad and a piece if the pretzel, the beer came. I got my order completely out of order. The pretzel was stale, and the cheese was cold. The salad was fine, and the beer was average. The service sucked and the bartender was an assclown. Tourist trap craphole and oh they didn't even have brewery stickers.

The 3rd was The Speakeasy at Salvation Spirits which had a really cool vibe awesome service and the best cocktails! We had lots of laughs and great wine and cocktails. Alan was very knowledgeable of the area and the wineries and we can't wait to go back and visit more wineries! Kenneth was a great tour guide, giving us information about each of the breweries we went to. He also sat with us at each location and it was cool getting to know him. Searched online for brewery tours that included this and finally decided on Austin Brewery Tours. Almost daily tours, online booking was so easy, and we got a reminder, a couple of days earlier to our tour, via email. Tour starts at noon. Meetup time was 11:30am. At around 11:25am the van was there. Out comes Shane, owner and tour guide. He immediately introduced himself, thanked us for being on time and proceeded to ask us our names and where we were from. Once the other people taking the tour arrived, we were all introduced and in the van we went. During the time we were driving, he would ask us questions to get to know us better, and see the style of beers we liked. He also gave us an intro of each of the breweries we would visit. He made the time driving pass by fast and welcomed all questions we could have. At each of the breweries, he explained the process and what we had included in the price of the tour. At Jester King, they even had a special release and he bought a sample of each (which was not included in the price but he gifted us with it) making sure we had the complete experience. You can tell he enjoys doing these tours and meeting the people. He even took us to Revolution - which was in front of one of the breweries we visited - to try locally made flavored gin. So greateful he allowed us to do this quick stop - this was delicious, and gave me the opportunity to talk more with one of the ladies on the tour, exchanging ideas on recipes with the gin we had just tried. Shane is grate at incorporating everyone in the tour and conversations. He allows you plenty of time to enjoy each brewery and every beer you choose. He is now friends with the staff at each of these breweries, which works on the advantage of everyone in the tour since we got excellent/ friendly service at each stop. Best part of this all, is you meet new people, get to enjoy all the beer you can drink, and don't have to drive. Great way to spend a day in Austin. If looking for a beer tour, look no further, this is it!
