David of Open Range Tours is incredible! He is very accommodating, easy-going, and friendly. He was always available for questions via text or a phone call during our planning phase and made sure our girls day out trip was a memorable one. We loved that it was just our group too. We saw other tours at one some of the wineries and you can tell it was large groups or mostly strangers being packed in together, our tour was just us three and we got to pick each of our stops. We had the most amazing time on our wine tour!!! David was our driver and went above an beyond to make us feel welcome and was always offering to take pictures. I went with a group of my coworkers (we are all nurses) and he encouraged us to let loose and have a good time. He was very communicative when making the reservation and flexible with our requests. I wanted to make my own custom tour since I didn't anticipate all 13 people to get full tastings every time and David gave me great recommendations ahead of time and helped us have the perfect experience! If anyone tells you that you HAVE to book all tastings ahead of time they are wrong, you can bring larger groups as walk-ins and do individual glasses/share bottles for a more casual experience. What a great experience! The 2 Davids were great. We booked this last minute due to the recent snow/ice storm and they were very flexible. We started at William Chris, headed to Pedernales and ended at Augusta Vin. The 15 passenger van was great for our group of 11. They offered water and took care of checking us in at each winery. David was a complete gentleman and carried all of our purchases and secured them in the van while we enjoyed our time tasting the different wines. He even dropped us off downtown so we would be on time for our dinner reservation. read more

David was so great! We had so much fun with him and he was very accomodating. At each place we visited, he knew the owners and would introduce them to us, which I thought was neat. He didn't just hang back at the van either, he would constantly come up and take the things we had purchased and take them back to the van. I absolutely would not recommend this service. It started off great 15 ladies two Van's, but David ran out of gas and all 15 of us ended up in one van, sitting on each other! Our lunches were incomplete because he kept part of them. Not to mention him eating of our plates. He got us another van for the next winery's. But by the time we left Luckenbach one of the Van's was gone! Back to being sardines again. We had a great time but not because of this tour company!! "Double Pimp D" aka David was absolutely phenomenal. We had a group of 13 in San Antonio go wine tasting in fberg for the day. He picked us up from San Antonio, drove us up to Hill Country and around to 3 wineries. As this was my first Texas wine tour, he did an AMAZING job of helping us select which wineries would be a good fit for the group. As we had a decent amount of guys with us- he suggest Garrison Brother's Distillery which ended up being a HUGE hit! He was extremely professional, courteous and just an absolute delight to spend the day with! He also has a wicked funny sense of humor. He was also very accommodating and ordered and picked up lunch for us so we could continue to enjoy beautiful Hill Country. We had a group of 13 trying to get out to a few wine tastings to celebrate a birthday and I am so glad I reached out to David, the owner of Open Range Tours. He was quick to respond and helped me schedule a party bus big enough for all of us. David, our driver, showed up early and made sure we had everything we needed for the trip. He had a giant cooler with ice and waters that we were able to load up with seltzers. I booked our wineries ahead of time which made getting into the tastings a breeze. David made sure we got to each winery on time and went in ahead to ensure each winery was ready for us when we arrived. He even coordinated to have the band at one of the wineries sing Happy Birthday! David was absolutely fantastic, and we had a great time with him. Do not use Open Range Tours they are out to rip you off and their employees David the owner was supposed to meet with his cutsomer and never showed...which looks really bad on his part but he charges the customer 20% gratuity even thou the customers tiped and then does not pay his employees what was promised..he took my tip out of what he owed me....Im sorry i busted my butt off for that tip..and if you say your going to meet with the customer you need to show up. read more

I arranged a Girls' Getaway to Fredericksburg, so naturally I wanted to do a wine tour. I contacted several tour companies. D'Ann was extremely responsive and gave me several suggestions of where to go. Since I'm a wine club member at quite a few wineries in the Hill Country, I opted to do a custom tour and made my own reservations. David was horribly unprofessional. We had a group of 15 ladies going on a wine tour. He brought two vans, because he was training a new employee. Thank God he did, because neither van could fit 15. Well, the van I was in(David's) ran out of gas before we even got to the first winery! We had to stand out on the side of the highway and wait for the other van to turn around and pick us up! We had to sit in laps to get to the first winery, which is against the law. Ok, so things happen. He promised to buy us all a beer at our last stop, which was Luckenbach. So, we were happy with that. Well, unfortunately this tour didn't get any better. His driving was terrible. I assume because he was looking at his phone the entire time. He was also very inappropriate. He was acting perverted, even asking to be spanked! When he delivered our food to one of the wineries, he literally ate off of some of our plates! He also saved all of our dirty plastic forks. When we finally got to Luckenbach, he disappeared. When he showed back up, one of the ladies asked about the beer he offered. He asked her why the f### would you ask me that, this late? She told him that she was sorry that she had already paid him. Most of us paid up front, with a substantial tip. So, when it was time to leave, one van was gone! So, stacked in the van like sardines, AGAIN! I absolutely do not recommend this company! read more

D'ann went above and beyond for the tour for my sister's bachelorette party! There were some general issues with scheduling and logistics that were my fault, but she very kindly fixed everything! Our driver David was on time, helpful, and a lot of fun. They know a lot about the wineries and have personal relationships with the owners/managers/tasting staff. David also went above and beyond by making an extra stop for shopping/pie-indulging and by dropping us off at our dinner restaurant so we didn't have to walk from the visitor center where he picked us up. Do NOT recommend! We booked a tour for 8 people and everything was a mess from the beginning. We were told we would be upgraded to a 15 passenger bus. A 15 passenger VAN showed up with a dent in the side and ripped seats. We were told we could bring coolers. We were only able to fit 8 adults in the van with our two coolers- no way we could've had another person in the van. None of the wineries had been scheduled yet and the ONE we had specifically requested was not available. We had to scramble ourselves to find wineries, in which we were promised everything would be done ahead of time. The meat and cheese tray that was promised was a small tray that was bought during the tour at a convenient store to feed 2 people. Our driver was great, however the owner did not deliver what was promised and we were highly disappointed. There are plenty of companies to choose from, and I would NOT recommend Open Range. read more

We went to Fredericksburg for a girls trip and wanted to spend a day at the distilleries and breweries. David was fantastic to work with planning everything out. I wouldn't have changed any of that part. But, once the day rolled around we were met with a hiccup. The driver, not David like I was anticipating after multiple conversations, arrived in a mustang for 5 of us. Obviously that wasn't going to work so I was offered by the driver only to cancel or reschedule. Our trip was planned around spending our day out and about so cancelling wasn't an option for us. After a phone call to David, we were assured our day wasn't ruined just a bit delayed. The driver left and showed back up with an SUV and away we went. The driver wasn't interactive and she didn't seem to even be having a good day... It happens I get it but come on. Anyway, we made the best of our day and enjoyed ourselves. When we were dropped off, I tried to pay but she said to get with David. No problem but I did have a problem with her then saying that she'd go ahead and take the gratuity and that the standard is 20%. I didn't even know what our total cost was to figure 20% but asking for the gratuity before I even paid for the day was in poor taste. We did go ahead and tip, and well mind you, because that's the kind of people we are. I ended up calling David and finishing out the transaction and once again, he was a pleasure to deal with. Overall, we'll use them again because I appreciated David that much. But, I'll definitely make sure we don't have the same driver. 5 stars for David but 4 stars overall for the above mentioned. read more
