Unfortunately on their return trip home, the van quit on him on I-10, way out in the middle of nowhere West Texas. As luck would have it, he had cell phone service. He was able to get a tow truck out to his location, and he also found Hernandez Diesel Shop on-line, and saw that they had good reviews. The problem with the van was the coil pack, which as I found out through two mechanics, does not throw a code. Therefore, I believe the mechanics at Hernandez had to trouble shoot the old fashion way (Spark? Fuel? Compression?, etc.) to find the cause of the problem. Fortunately they found the problem and fixed it in a reasonable amount of time. My son and his friends had to stay the night on Ozona because the auto parts store was closed for the evening. However, the very next day Hernandez got the part, put it in, and my son and his friends were back on their way home after a week at Big Bend. I also check with my own mechanic, and brother who works at General Motors, and they both agreed that the price Hernandez charged for the repair was very reasonable. My son said Hernandez repair shop was not fancy, and did not look like a national repair shop chain like NTB or Pep Boys. However, they were able to get all the work done to complete the repair. I am very pleased that my son was able to get the help he needed to get our van back on the road! After not hearing from the tow provider I called Caprock Diesel and they assured me the tow truck would be there in less than 10 minutes. After waiting on the side of the road for nearly 2 hours the tow arrived. After the problem was found with my car Fred informed me I should find a hotel room, because it was late in the day. He told me that the workers from the local oil fields booked up every hotel room in town, so he called a friend that managed a hotel in town where i was able to find a vacancy- for $150. Later on I got the suspicion that Fred was sending out-of-towners to his friends hotel, because he assured me that no other hotel would possibly have a room but I called another much cheaper hotel that said they had plenty of rooms. The facilities at Caprock were not nice, the waiting room had broken auto parts and shipping boxes lying around, the bathrooms were disgusting. A part for my car could not be found in a timely manner, so some of the guys at the shop did a great job (its held up so far) of patching together my car from what they had. Even though they did make some silly mistakes along the way that prolonged my time in Ozona (breaking bolts, forgetting to plug in sensors, repairing their own repairs) what the mechanics did are the only reason I'm not giving 1 star. Three days, and several hundred dollars later (they charged much more for labor than I would expect a dealer to charge) I left Ozona Texas less than satisfied.

I had a 26 foot U-Haul truck break down on my about 25 miles east of Sonora Tx (east bound on I10)…read more TRETO'S TIRE & TOWING. was the towing company that U-Haul used to take care of me. The first tow truck that they sent out was to small, so they had to call for a bigger tow truck. The first driver was not about to leave me on the side of the road. He took me and my 2 travel bags back to Sonora Tx. Stopped in front a restaurant and waited for me to get my food then took me to my hotel. He made sure I got checked in and even took my bags to my room for me. He also made sure I was going to be on the first floor. I am handicapped and can't climb stairs. After that TRETO'S TIRE & TOWING and U-Haul both made sure I knew the status of the truck and when it would be towed to the hotel. It with my contents was parked in the hotels lot under lights nice and safe. The next day TRETO'S TIRE & TOWING towed my replacement U-Haul to the hotel. That insured it had a just as much gas as the first U-Haul. I am truly grateful for how well they took care of me. Ken
