TWO NIGHTS AFTER CHRISTMAS by JAVIER D…read more 'Twas two nights after Christmas in the southwestern sand the family did travel back to their own land. The air was cold, the hours did while, songs were sung as uncle Sammy counted each mile. The children did snack on cereal bars, and when Javier drove they passed all the cars. Sharon and Sarah slept with their noses in the air, Maddy used fingers to comb Abby's hair, When under the hood there arose such a clatter, The dashboard was quick to tell what's the matter. "The alternator's busted, it belongs in the trash!" The hotels and mechanics would be counting their cash. The car went no further than DQ in Ozona. They would not make it home from ole Arizona. But what to their surprise on the iPhone did query, but a guy with a Napa, like an auto parts fairy. He was closed for the night and 'twas a Sunday, but that made no matter to him he did say. He would turn on his computer and sell them the part. He would go out of his way and show them his heart. "Ya'll are here, in Ozona?" He sounded surprised, "Only in a small town", they would later surmise. With a shuffle and a grunt he smiled a big smile, "you'll be back on the road in a very short while." It took longer than expected they thought they'd imposed, but through it Vince smiled, his face quite reposed. He sold them the part, the sockets and soap, those things in skilled hands gave the girlies some hope. Bryce, Cammy and Aili ran around while they toiled, not by the suburban, would playtime be foiled. They wrenched and they pounded on the serpentine belt, almost impossible at one point it felt. At the end it looked easy, as it certainly should, no one overstressed, yet not feeling too good. As Texas laid ahead, almost half of the state, it seemed four more hours their beds would await. Had it not been for Vince and his generous heart they would be in Ozona the next day to depart. So let it be known in all of the land, if you ever have trouble out there in the sand, if your luck is mixed and your car's broken close by, there's no other place better you're likely to try. This family shop truly goes out its way, to make sure you and yours can be on your way.

While it had been about three years since I had the battery replaced, I didn't quite like the $155.00 price tag the Front Desk Associate quoted me for a replacement. Sooooooo on Tuesday I went to AutoZone for a price comparison visit and asked the Associate if he would provide a quote for a new battery. BEN informed me that the battery prices were similar, BUT that he would price match any price that was lower. He then picked up his personal cell phone and went to Wal-Mart's website and found a battery for "$93.76", and then he proceeded to ring up my new battery! What's more, when he attempted to open my hood to replace the battery he recognized the latch "thingy-ma-jiggy" was broken, which prevented him from fully opening the hood. He went inside and came back out with a MacGyver-looking scissors which he used to pass through the grill of my hood to catch the hook on the broken "thingy-ma-jiggy". Well by this point I am beyond "awed" as I gave the Toyota Service Receptionist a play-by-play account of what BEN did to open my hood, which was "fully-functional" when I visited their Service Department on Friday (lips pursed). While BEN worked with his rubber mallet to dislodge the battery which was severely corroded with acid from it's docking station, I frustratingly secured a "please bring your car in at 1pm" appointment with Toyota. After it was all said and done, BEN installed the battery and he added some petroleum jelly looking goop to the battery to prevent further corrosion. Thank you BEN for your willingness to go ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty. You--and your rubber mallet--are greatly appreciated. While I did have to wait 40 annoying minutes in Toyota's Waiting Room, they did fix my broken hood. Until the next car emergency ***

Visited the Autozone on Ave N to purchase some auto parts. Went into the store, stood right behind…read morethe only other customer in the store, (at the time) at the parts ordering computer terminal. Even mentioned to the sale clerk that I needed to order some auto parts. For some reason the store has several parts ordering terminals but only allows sales transactions for another area of the store even though there is a terminal at the parts ordering terminals. When the clerk headed over the the cash register to check out the customer in front of me; other customers entered the store and proceeded to the cash register to paid for their merchandise. I didn't mind at first, but after, 15 mins and 4 new customers jumping ahead of me, without the sales clerk even mentioning to me to "hold-on, I'll be right with you..." I departed to store without ordering my parts. I went back to the Autozone about two weeks after the first incident to attempt to order auto parts, (I wanted to see if the same thing would happen - and this Autozone is the closest auto parts store to my house.) And, to my discoverly - it did. Stood there for waiting to order parts while the sales clerks helped other customers whom enter the store after me. I will never returned to this Autozone. They must have a "store policy" to not help customers waiting to order auto parts if there is customers waiting to check-out. Even if the auto ordering customers have been waiting for a long time. Autozone needs to change its check-out procedures for better customer experience or lose good paying customer like me. That Autozone lost over $1,000 in auto part orders (first to Advanced Auto then to O'reillys.
