After Hurricane Florence we were given a name from our insurance agent to contact for tarps to be installed on our damaged roof. John collected a list of people needing this service on Saturday after the storm had passed. On Saturday evening he called us and advised us someone would be available either Sunday afternoon or first thing Monday morning. We agreed to whatever worked for their schedule as nobody needed to be there when they would be working. First thing Monday morning I got a call from Chris DeHart the owner of All About Energy Solutions that he would be out shortly. I forgot to mention that nobody was home so he called back for permission to enter the backyard when there was no answer at the front door. After surveying the damage he called back with the bad news, good news, and great news. The bottom line was he didn't think we needed tarps with the type of damage that had occurred. There were no entire patches of shingles missing but rather a shingle here and a shingle there. He advised me that the nails to hold the tarps in place were more apt to cause water leakage than to just leave the roof temporarily as it was. I thanked him and told him to charge whatever their callout service fee was. He replied no charge, just tell your insurance agent that we treated you fairly. Avoid this company. They do not follow up on their work, even for items under warranty. There are plenty of reputable companies that do attic insulation, who will answer the phone and call back. And beware of their Radiant Barrier. It is just a flimsy piece of foil that doesn't stay attached. My attic heat problem has been worse after paying them $6,000 to fix it. We were in need of a company to blow insulation into our attic after finding out that the contractors that built our home never did so. We used Angi's to find a contractor and unfortunately for us All About Energy was the only option presented to us. At first, All About Energy was great. The receptionist or scheduler was so nice and friendly and we were contacted quickly to set up a visit from one of their inspectors to come out and give us a quote. That's about where the positives end. On the day they were scheduled to come out I get a call from the inspector letting me know that I had to be bumped until later in the day. I had an appointment at 1 so he said he'd be by at 2. I agreed. He doesn't get here until 2:20. When he arrives I lead him up to the attic space where he notices he needs a ladder. He asks if I had one because he didn't want to go out to his car to get his. So I grab him a ladder and he does the inspection. After coming down he is repeatedly telling me that this is a small job and they don't typically do these jobs but he's do us a favor by doing it this time. We tentatively agree on the time and date that the work is going to happen and he informs me that he's get the quote out to me that night. That night I never got the quote so the next day I text him. He says that he sent it and that it must be in my spam. It wasn't. An hour later I call him and he is insistent that he sent the he quote. I send over my email address again and that's when he notices he had the wrong email address. No big deal. He sends me the quote and I tell him at that time that we were in the process of getting a second quote from a mother company that k had found that day and I'd be in touch once we made a decision. A week later the other company comes by to give us their quote. An hour after they leave All About Energy arrives to do the work. We never got a confirmed date or time of when the work was going to be done. We never paid a deposit or signed a contract. The driver was super nice and apologetic though and left without any issues. I get a phone call from the inspector just a few minutes later aggravated that I had turned away the driver. He said we had agreed to the work. When I told him no one sent me a confirmation of date and time he reached out to the home office and that's when they found out home office had my wrong email address. The inspector was very rude the entire time and told him we were going in another direction. I called All About Energy's home office and spoke with the receptionist again (again super nice!) and told her how unprofessional this inspector was. I informed her of why we weren't going with their company and she said she understood and we got off the phone politely and professionally. Enter Chris, the owner of All About Energy. He calls me up within minutes of speaking with the receptionist and at first Chris is nice and apologetic for what we have had to deal with. He offered to come back out to our home and redo the quote since our last quote was missing information. I agreed and he came out that afternoon. The first part of the inspection was totally fine. He explained to us some things more thoroughly and took his time answering questions. Then towards the end he asked my husband to test our thermostats in our house and to send him the information and Chris said that he would follow up with advice as to what we should do about that. Then at the very end Chris started getting political. And as he was leaving he told us that he was firing the guy who came to our house as well as one or two more guys who were just as bad as him. This seemed pretty unprofessional to let potential clients know that you have several employees who are about to lose their jobs. That night my husband sent Chris an email agreeing to the work and answering the questions about the thermostat Chris had asked about. My husband gave Chris a date of today to have the work done and asked that Chris let us know when they were expecting to come out to do the work. Chris never responded to that email. So fast forward to today and we still don't have a confirmed date or time for the installation so I call the main office and I'm told it was sometime today. When I ask when I'm not given any time and am told that they sent me an email about, which again I never got. I told them I do not want to work done due to the unprofessional service we had recieved up to that point and asked to receive no further contact. 3 minutes later Chris texts me going off on me about us agreeing to the work. When I called he immediately cuts me off before I can get a word in saying that he's not going to deal with a customer yelling at him and he was going to do the work for free but not anymore and that he hopes I enjoy paying more for the same service he was going to offer us. When purchasing my home, the seller's agent hired All About Energy Solutions to replace the vapor barrier and some insulation in the crawlspace. The total invoice I paid was $4797.50 ($2172.50 to remove the old vapor barrier, $2437.50 to install new 10mill vapor barrier, and $187.50 to replace "some" insulation.) **I later found out that this was an EXTREMELY HIGH PRICE for that work. Once I moved in, I contacted the company that had performed the bug inspection to do termite prevention and general pest control. When they arrived, the technician said "oh, I was just here about a month ago - I did the bug inspection on this home" and after he went into the crawlspace, he came out and offered me an estimate to replace the vapor barrier and install a dehumidifier. When I told him that the crawlspace work had already been done, he said "it looks exactly the same as it did when I was under there before" and showed me pictures confirming his story. I showed him the invoice where I'd paid All About Energy Solutions, and he said "they didn't do that, and that's not 10mill poly under there." I looked under the house myself and saw that it was an absolute mess - definitely didn't look like anybody had done ANY work under there. After finding this out, my realtor contacted Chris with All About Energy Solutions to come speak with me regarding this issue. When he came out, he stuck to his story saying that they had indeed replaced the vapor barrier. He did, however, offer to do MORE work (install a dehumidifier and close the vents) for an additional $2000 ("his cost"). I declined. Fast forward, I had 3 more crawlspace professionals come out, all of which said that what was under my house was NOT 10mill vapor barrier, but instead the original 6mill that Chris said they'd replaced. So I called my ex-husband (a machinist) who brought a set of calipers over to measure the plastic. Much to my LACK OF SURPRISE, it measured 0.006 (6mill, NOT 10mill.) We called Chris out again, showed him what we'd found, compared the plastic in my crawlspace to the new 10mill plastic sample in his truck (VASTLY DIFFERENT THICKNESS) and he said that I "might" should get a refund, but still wouldn't confess to not doing the work he was paid to do. And the next day, wouldn't agree to the refund. I've since hired another company to come out and tear out the original vapor barrier, remove miscellaneous debris (like bags of cement mix, cups, cans, and other random trash), rake and grade the ground, install 10mill vapor barrier, clean up the insulation, install a dehumidifier, close off the vents, and build a custom door - all for $4400. I kept the calipers and measured the plastic as it was being removed (6 bags) and replaced. It was NOT 10mill. Measurements were from 0.006 to 0.0075. Proof that they did NOT do the work stated. I've asked for honesty from Chris. I've asked for a refund from Chris. I didn't get either. So now I'll be taking it in front of a judge. read more

This company was hired in 12/2014, the contract calling for installation of a radiant barrier to my attic, addition of (additional) blown-in insulation to the attic, and installation of a ridge vent on my roof. The intended benefit of this work was to reduce energy usage needed to keep the house at its desired indoor temperature, while simultaneously reducing energy costs for heating and cooling. I was assured that this was not an unreasonable goal. After an initial delay of a few days, the workers arrived to do the attic work. It was done in what looks to be a thorough manner, and completed in one day. The balance due on the contracted amount was paid at the end of that day, though the installation of the ridge vent still remained to be done. I was told that the roofer would be by within a few days - when he did not show after several days (maybe a week ... its hard to remember for sure, as this all occurred some 7 months ago), I contacted Matt (employee), who was not aware that the roofer had not been here to install the ridge vent. He promised that he would get back to me shortly ... he did not. Over the next 3-4 weeks I attempted to contact both him and Chris (owner) via phone and/or email - phone calls were at first not returned, and subsequently voice mail-box was full and could not accept any additional messages. Emails were not replied to. Because I had based the reliability of their work in large part on reviews from Angies List, I wrote a partially negative review on Angies List, and also contacted the editors of that company. Only after that did I eventually hear back from Chris. A few days later, the roofer came by to install the ridge vent, so at that point the work was essentially done, even though only 20' of ridge vent was installed, while the contract called for 30'. I let it slide. For readers of this review who have access to Angies List, a more detailed review is posted there. Of note, at the same time I experienced the difficulties described above (failure to complete the contracted installation of the ridge vent in a timely manner, and failure to return phone/email inquires over a 3 week period about this matter), other negative reviews began to appear on Angies List. Finally, after 7 months of living in the house with the improvements made by All About Energy Solution to reduce energy usage and costs for heating and cooling, I have seen no change in my energy costs or usage, based on my monthly statements from Duke Energy. read more

This company was hired 24 months ago to install moisture barriers and a dehumidifier in my crawl space. I have been trying to contact them for over a year now about the unit that had failed. Now that I am trying to sell my house, contractors say that a indoor unit was installed and that moisture barriers need to be redone. This company is not reliable and does not know what they are doing, especially in a crawl space. They won't even fix the issue they caused. Stay away!! read more
