What a great spot for some delicious, homemade ice cream! They tout their ice cream is made using handed down recipes from the former Anderson's ice cream of Joplin, MO. My salted caramel and chocolate double scoop in a waffle cone was delicious! While we didn't order any burgers, they looked yummy! A large selection of homemade ice cream that is very good! Also their frozen lemonade is sweet and hits the spot on a hot day. They also offer burgers and hot dogs, but we've only tried their cold treats. We were also greeted with great friendly service. The ambiance was also relaxed and you could dine in a train car. Best ice cream I've had in a long time. I tried the Ozark Stinger and it was delicious. The people were super friendly and helpful. They talked me through the flavors and mentioned how they created them and all about the local honey. My 3-year-old had a blast eating on an old mail train. Cool spot on the banks of Shoal Creek - a couple miles south of Joplin. Wonderful homemade ice cream - almost a gelato type of richness. Flavors change in and out constantly - they probably had 15 or so options today. I tried the Cherry Mash - excellent. Others had chocolate - super rich chocolate flavor. My sister had a chocolate shake - dark chocolate shake with a scoop of chocolate ice cream on top. Hamburgers are "Whisler's" and are really tasty...and inexpensive. The original Whisler's in Carthage is a legend. We enjoyed out lunch in the KC Southern rail car (air conditioned) on the property. Kids love this place for the play area and choo choo rides. read more

Meh. The train was broken. The train you get to eat in was kinda dirty. Went on Tuesday and it was closed, had a water line broken, but no note letting you know they're having problems. Came from outta town to visit granddaughters, and was disappointed when we got there and it was closed. Went back the next day to try again. Food is.......not great. An excellent stop for anyone looking for a nice hometown diner vibe. Helpful and efficient staff. They got us our ice cream quickly and answered questions we had about the flavors. We ate in the railcar and it was cool to see all the historical items in it! The only problem we had with the place was another costumer. We were walking out and we hear "DOOR DOOR DOOR!" from behind us. It was a family that was trying to tell us we left the door open and we should shut it. Carly N. got most of the history right. I grew up in Joplin and Mr. Anderson was the nicest person. He had his store on south Main near South town bait. His big ice cream cone was less than a block from the large fish for south town bait. His "home made ice cream factory" was in the building behind the small store. Some of the non tasty, neat items was the pictures in the store of local national celebrities with Mr Anderson and his famous , Dennis Weaver & Bob Cummings The owner and location changes a couple times, but the kept the same awesome tasty recipe. The current owner really has made this a special place adding Whistlers burgers/hotdogs and the train ride for the kids really make it a special outing. This place was a lucky find. My son LOVES trains and begged us to stop in. My son had a cheeseburger and chips. My husband and I had double cheeseburgers and chips. The patties are 1/8th of a pound. They were perfectly cooked and made fresh- so delicious! You go into the train car while you wait for your food to be cooked. In the train car, there are 3 train tables where kids can play or they can watch an old-time US Postal Service delivery video (which was actually quite interesting). They also have a big roll of paper that you can tear off of to give your kids something to color on, accompanied by a bucket of crayons. Outside the train car is a mini train that kids can ride and a sandbox with toys. They also sell ice cream and candy, but we didn't really look at any of that as we were just grabbing lunch. The restroom is very clean and has a changing table, as well as one of those Koala baby seats on the wall. The staff is very friendly and informative. We will definitely be back! read more

I've been here multiple times and both the food and service is wonderful. The food is cheap and the hamburgers are delicious. Their ice cream is homemade and every flavor I've tried is incredible. My favorite is their salted caramel ice cream, and there are times I've come just for that. The workers come out and for $2.00, give the kids rides on a little train they have out front. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a real train car outside you can eat your meal in. They have a sandbox for the kids and a bell they can reach to ring. It's also down by Shoal Creek and a trail by the water that I enjoy walking on. It's a great family-friendly place, and my favorite for warm summer days. read more

You must go to this burger and ice cream shop! We are traveling east on 44 and got hungry for ice cream. I then Yelped and found the All Aboard Ice Cream shop. WOW very family oriented with a play area, an old train postal car to eat in and a small little train to ride on. The most important thing was the ice cream... it was creamy,smooth and full of flavor. (A party in your mouth) We met the young man who makes the ice cream right there at the shop. He had a passion for what he does and freely shared the humble beginnings of the shop. We did not get to try the burgers but I'll bet they are wonderful. This place is worth the stop. read more

The owners of course changed a year or so ago... and it's obvious. As far as being concerned with safety in a pandemic, please don't eat here. There is no masks on cooks or the cashier. The guy scooping ice cream wiped his hands on his jeans. No screen to protect either. No hand washing I could see in between guests. Service is slow and the once great burgers were meh. This place is really cool to take younger kids to. Burgers are really small, but very good, and the prices are not bad at all. Just understand that a Triple patty burger feels like maybe the size of a junior bacon cheeseburger from Wendy's but with more meat. So if you are hungry, grab the biggest thing they have.
